The decor, the entertainment, the products all struck a chord with me. On one side - a super cute pour over/loose leaf tea shop with some records for sale. On the other - a cute bar and lounge area equipped with a vinyl player (Bring one in on a Monday for them to play). You have some house pants, checkered floors, and cool vinyl covers all over the walls that make for some great & hip atmosphere and vibes. Their restrooms, though small, and clean and cool. Their pour overs are so flavorful, strong, and made with beans grounded on your visit. I love that they're flavored and sweetened in a way that allows the coffee to shine. If you're into sweeter drinks, ask for a bit more sweetner or add in a brown raw sugar packet yourself from the straw station. I hear their chocolate pour over is a hit. Matchas - prepared in a similar fashion. Slightly sweetned with subtle flavorings. I tried their carrot cake matcha today and really enjoyed the housemade syrup they used to flavor it with. I also love that they offer loose leaf teas. Their chai was nice, fragrant and great with a little sweetner and milk. Shelby over at the bar area was sooo patient with explaining their menu and suggested a isla bonita pineapple shrub drink for a non alcoholic option. Similar to their other drinks on the coffee side, it was tamed in sugar yet still fun and flavorful. I really enjoyed the tang from the apple cider and the spice from the tajin chili powder as a contrasting flavor. Double check their website for bar and coffee shop hours as they differ from one another. And follow them on Instagram for updates on seasonal specials & themed gatherings. An interesting combination of coffee shop, bar, and vinyl lounge, EP is located on Wells Avenue. Took a break from checking out other neighborhood shops to sit and enjoy an afternoon cocktail with friends. Plenty of various comfy seating areas and about six spots at the bar. I tried the Float On, a boozy adult root beer float using local gelato from Bibo. It's a coffee shop, so my friend sipped the 9 to 5, their version of an espresso martini. The Soul Sipper, a beautiful orange colored cocktail was similar to an Aperol Spritzer. Located on the corner of Wells and Vassar, there's a little more street parking available.

I came to Crystal Cove in search of rings, bracelets, and earrings. I have enough crystals in other forms to sink a ship, but it's always nice to browse. I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She did some small talk asking me about how my holiday season was. Then she gave too much information about her and her family. She said I was free to look around and to let her know if I needed any help. She gave me a tiny wicker basket for shopping. The place is very small and it is packed with glass shelves so I had to be mindful of how I moved around the store. There were signs letting you know that you were being watched and to "Smile". I get it, tiny items can easily be shoplifted, but the cameras kind of take away the zen feeling. I found a case with a few trays of rings that I wanted to look at and try on. I asked the employee for help. At that time there were at least two other shoppers in the store and it was getting a bit packed. So I took the tray to the main counter thinking that way I would have more space to try on the rings and she could keep a closer eye on the other customers. She told me no. So she and I huddled next to each other as I tried on rings under her watchful eye. It felt very awkward. I quickly chose a ring, paid, and left. While I was checking out she again asked me how my holiday was. She also made a negative comment about the city of Reno. I don't plan on returning. I would probably like Cracker Barrel better if I was a brand- new customer and not used to the unique experience once offered. Atmosphere: was a big one. There was always a feeling of dining at a loved one's home, the service was special. The Food: was a huge part of the experience. Every single time I went there was a FRESH basket of biscuits and breads that were brought to the table when I was seated. The food had flavor and tasted good. The Store: is cool and always fun to shop and buy things I wasn't shopping for. The Reno store finally open, but without many of the things that made Cracker Barrel memorable. Things were missing. The service is cookie cutter like a pancake or waffle joint. The food is the biggest difference. The biscuits are now only served with certain meals and you have to beg for them as the server will not bring them unless you ask at least twice. When they do bring them 80% of the time they are hard and clearly microwaved from frozen. The most of the food that I have consistently ordered over 12 years is also prepared from frozen, bland and rubbery. The actual store is fine and well stocked. All restaurants that answer to a corporate entity are subject to cutting costs and increasing profitability. What they need to realize is that they also need to remain competitive and offer something that makes them stand out. The Reno store represents the "new" Cracker Barrell in all of the worst ways. I have spoken with the manager who assured me they would not go out of business over 22 cents worth of biscuits but that "corporate made the change." Watch any Kitchen Nightmares type show and see that food quality and customer service standards are always what make restaurants fail, big and small. How did they eke out 2 stars? I wish there were a 1.5. They have new menu items and specials that keep things interesting and the decor still feels comforting.
