I almost missed trying this place because of some 10+ year old reviews, so be aware of that when assessing this business. I was incredibly impressed with a caramel cake I purchased. It was truly wa sone of, if not the best, caramel cakes I've ever had. I am very critical of baked good because I am a baker myself. She does a masterful job of developing and balancing flavors without her desserts being overly sweet. The texture of her caramel is silky and the flavor was decadent. The cake was the perfect balance of the appropriate moisture and density, especially for caramel cake. I had no issue with my customer service. The prices were more than I was expecting but when I tasted her cake I understood how they are justified. I am eager to try more of her treats. Kudos! read more

We always get our holiday desserts from here. The Carmel cake is so delicious and always a hit and we do the sweet potato pie too. You can order ahead and pick up the dessert a couple of days before. When it's not the holidays I love to get the cupcakes which are more like mini cakes because they are bigger than a normal bakery cupcake. They are really tasty and moist and come in different flavors. If you're looking to support a local business and love yummy baked goods, you should try this place. read more

I was able to enjoy one of the best cupcakes I have ever had the pleasure of eating today because I made a random stop into Nordstrom's. I was having a pretty rough day and Bernadette and her moist, decadent treats saved my afternoon. I was lucky enough to run into her pop up display at Mayfair Mall, but her location is at 7934 W Burleigh Street! I always look for a local bakery when I need to bring a dessert to a party and Bernadette is now on the top of my list. I inhaled my Red Velvet cupcake so fast I wasn't able to snap a photo, but I was able to capture the deliciousness of my sister cupcake (German Chocolate). If you're looking for some baked goods to bring to your next birthday party, or simply need a sugar pick up to brighten your day, I highly recommend you check this place out! 10/10 from me! read more

For some reason I've been on a real Cupcake kick lately. I think I've watched too many episodes of Cupcake Wars while I've been on vacation. I stopped by this small shop this morning and was very impressed. I was tempted by the Miniature Pecan Pie and other treats, I decided on The German Chocolate Cupcake. Moist Chocolate Cake covered by the Classic Coconut, Caramel and Pecan Frosting. The price is a little steep, but it was a very high quality Cupcake. The store is very Wheelchair friendly. read more

Around Christmas, I bought a sweet potato pie from this place, and every aspect of the experience was great. The ambiance and look of the store is adorable, and the man working there was more helpful than I could have imagined and very gracious. When I got home and shared the pie with my family, everyone raved about it; it was amazing and tasted like it was made from scratch. I really hope this business does well! I LOVE cupcakes. No seriously, I LOVE cupcakes. I was expecting great things from this place but was left wanting more. The cupcakes were ok, not dry but not that really moist yummy taste i was craving. I also think that the frosting makes the cupcake and this place definitely fell short. I stopped in this store on my way into Mayfair Mall (in the back covered movie entrance) because it was so cute and inviting. It's decorated so well, and everything looks awesome! I had a red velvet cupcake, and it was by far the best I've had. It was moist, great-tasting, and the frosting was really good. I'm not even a sweets person, really, and I usually scrape frosting off cake, but you won't want to do that here! The prices are reasonable, especially considering you can't find this quality anywhere else, and they also have the ONLY caramel cake in Milwaukee. I haven't tried it yet, but that's next. AVOID!! Oh my goodness talk about deception. Not even worth the worst rating. Far below. They show you a cupcake, you order, and when you pick up you get a mini version of what was displayed. You get a choice of four varieties. Remember they are large in the case. But that's not what you get. You get your selection of scantly frosted, dry, flavorless and by all means a small version cupcakes. Not gourmet by any means. These cupcakes were not even worthy of being samples. PLEASE if you purchased a groupon, and were disappointed in the quality and value...please contact Groupon. This should not be allowed to happen to anyone else. If only I had seen these reviews first. On the positive side....I did travel down the road to GiGi cupcakes and was totally impressed with selection, quality, value and of all taste. I heard of Treats by Bernadette from a number of acquaintances and finally had a chance to check out the Mayfair location in person. Generally I'm not that much of a sweets person, so I selected a cupcake that didn't have loads of frosting - the caramel cupcake. And what a treat it was! Some details: They travel very well - I purchased them at about 4p in the afternoon and didn't get home until close to 9:30p. They are moist - I bought one for myself and one for my hubby. He ate his straight out the container, I put mine in the microwave (because I like my pies/cakes/etc to be warm/hot), both were equally moist. They are flavorful - you can tell that it was made from scratch. They will make you want more - Kinda wished I had an entire cake and not just the cupcake :-) Will definitely be back! read more

My daughter and I were dying for cupcakes the other evening, so we ran into the mall for Treats by Bernadette. I was disappointed. I consider myself somewhat of a cupcake snob, enjoying great treats in Cleveland, where I live. We ordered the Red Velvet and Chocolate cupcakes and felt the frosting was way too sugary and not the consistency of a good butter cream based frosting, which I prefer. I had high hopes for these cupcakes, but I was disappointed by the experience. I called about 5 days in advance to reserve the cupcakes that I wanted. I asked that these cupcakes be organized, so that when i picked them up, they would be ready. When i arrived, the guy could not find any record of my order. Luckily, the cupcakes i wanted were in-stock, but I still had to wait until they were boxed up (i knew i was going to be in a hurry-which is why I called). The cupcakes were good but expensive. Every place have pros and cons. I agree, the shop is very adorable and the cupcakes that I purchased were pretty good and not dry at all. The peach cobbler is also a winner. The prices are no different than Cinnabon and the other eateries in the mall, they're all pretty costly and of course they must adjust their prices to pay the bills. read more

I purchased a groupon for one dozen cupcakes. First, it was only valid for four flavors (vanilla, caramel, coconut and red velvet...no chocolate, seriously?!?). Second, they are not the jumbo cupcakes featured in the display. These cupcakes were the same size as what I would make at home. As mentioned in previous reviews, the cupcakes were dry and not at all worth the money, even with the groupon discount. Save your money and go to Gigi's cupcakes on Mayfair & Center. read more
