I have a 50--60 foot Deodar/Himalayan Cedar, about 40 years old. It was leaning enough to be of concern for it falling onto the house, and was also very thick. Althought normally the Deodars are not to be pruned, mine had to be to prevent a sailing effect during Santa Ana winds, which could contribute to the tree falling. A Certified Arborist was required. After numerous calls and online searches, I found Tree Barber. They were very responsive, booked an appointment, and came out and assessed the tree. I was concerned that after the truly surgical pruning, that I would not have much left of the beautiful tree. However, Tree Barber did an expert, artistic job of selectively prunning. My mom was in need of having a fruitless olive tree in her backyard trimmed-it had many dead branches (including some on the roof of the house), she also a needed a diseased Meyer lemon tree removed. The olive tree had previously been trimmed by somebody else several years ago and we were all extremely disappointed by the work and apparent lack of knowledge of how to properly trim the tree. After doing research we chose the Tree Barber. A call was made and an appointment set with Luke Rider to provide an estimate. A few days later, he arrived and explained to my mom what needed to be done and he gave her an estimate including clean up and hauling away the branches along with the diseased lemon tree. He also gave her an estimate for trimming the 2 liquid amber trees in the front yard-which he said should be done in the fall. Both estimates seemed quite fair and a week or so later the team arrived to do the work. A final inspection of the job was done by Paul Rider. Have been using The Tree Barber on our acre of forest for 15-20 years. Both the owner and his son are certified arborists and their knowledge is exceptional. This time around, a miscommunication occurred between the work order and its execution and a 28 year old bush was removed at its base rather than just trimmed as desired. Mistakes and accidents happen in life and, of course, there was no way to replace our mature bush. That stated, the owner sent a stump grinding specialist to grind down the original stumps and then purchased a replacement bush of our choosing, all at his expense. They were very inefficient and slow to respond and ultimately never got around to providing the quote. It was a pleasure working with Luke and his crew at Tree Barber. They were prompt, professional, courteous, and fast. I had 2 palm trees that needed trimming in my backyard. I really like that Tree Barbers does not use shoe spikes to climb the trees, instead they use a rope and pully system which doesn't scar the tree trunk or leave them vulnerable to infection unlike spikes.
