These guys are complete pros! I'm so impressed by the talented team at Vista Tree Service. The bid to thin my 2 heavy eucalyptus was attractive at $1150 (June 2023). Within 3 weeks, the job was scheduled. I watched multiple tree climbers tie into harnesses and ropes and climb my trees with their chain saws, then artfully perform a careful ballet of thinning and lacing. The ground crew kept all the lines free and hauled away the most spectacular amount of branches to the chipper. They had 2 trucks available for the haul away. Then came the rakes and cans and the blower to clean up all the leaves. The whole team worked so hard. I've never seen anything like it. We've had other companies come out to trim trees and none of them hold a candle to the service, professionalism, and care that they took while trimming our huge and unruly native sycamore trees. They were very responsive from the get-go, and Mike came out shortly after to take a look at the trees in question. Day-of: Christian and his crew arrived on time and they were very courteous and confirmed everything that needed to be done prior to starting. Called them to come to my residence to get a quote to trim/clean a palm tree. I was told I would receive a phone call prior to Mike arriving at my residence; I did not. I work from home and I was on a phone call when I noticed someone at my door on my Ring camera. I could not get off my call and Mike did not ring my doorbell. Instead he looked at the palm tree located in my neighbor's yard (behind a clear and noticeable fence) and assumed this was the palm in question. It was not. The palm I had called to request a quote on is in my backyard which is not visible from the front. He left a piece of paper with a quote at my door and failed to even attempt to speak to me. They've been frustrating me for three years and I just screamed at them and threw them off my property, after having nicely asked MANY TIMES that they quit inconveniencing us. The first time I hired Vista Tree Service, the crew did a decent job trimming my trees. However, they were careless in protecting the surrounding landscaping and irrigation system. Water was shooting straight up from broken sprinkler heads. Ultimately, Vista reimbursed me for the expense to repair the irrigation. Today I had an appointment with Mike (owner) for an estimate to trim trees in an area with below-ground irrigation that I didn't think Vista could damage. Mike was a no-show. When I called to ask where he was, I was given a bunch of excuses about how an employee was out sick the prior day. I then spoke with the other owner Sheila. When I expressed that I was disappointed in Vista disrespecting my time, she became defensive and belligerent, telling me I should understand that someone was sick. Indeed, I understand that an employee will sometimes become unexpectedly ill, especially during a pandemic. But, there are multiple other employees (including Sheila and Mike, who clearly was aware of his own schedule), who could have given a repeat customer the basic courtesy of informing me that he couldn't make it. Dropping the ball when an employee is sick demonstrates poor business management and customer service. An owner being rude about her business's mistake is even worse, and very off-putting. I would not be writing this review had Sheila been more professional and accountable. read more

We had two large, overgrown trees that were swallowing our house from the solar-paneled roof to the plumbing and foundation. A contractor friend recommended Vista Tree Service for being the best, fully bonded and licensed service at the best price. Ty came out right away to give us a bid and took the time to answer questions about all our trees. The team arrived before the appointed time, verified what we wanted done and got to work simultaneously on both trees and another small one (at no extra cost.) It had been years since another service worked on those trees and left them in very poor condition. The Vista Tree Service team beautifully sculpted our trees with careful precision, surpassing our expectations. They also dug a trench to cut through the roots that were infiltrating our plumbing and inserted plastic to redirect them. Had the owner Mike come out to review the tricky removal of a pepper tree & stump behind two storage sheds that was intertwined with a couple of fences. Please note, some fence removal would be required for the job and there was also a bee problem living under one of the sheds. Mike's estimate was fair provided he would be able to access the other side of the fence (neighbors side) with the stump grinder. The neighbor had no issue with Mike accessing from his side however, a large tree and a ditch on neighbors side did prohibit this access. I called the office and asked Mike to take another look asking if he'd be able to remove a larger portion of the fence from my side in order to access the area. Mike then states he "doesn't do fences" and suggested just trimming the tree up on both sides of the fence, across the top, then spray it with a chemical to kill it without having to remove the fence, the portion of the tree stuck between the fences, and the stump. We agreed this would be fine. Mike said he could take care of it Friday February 4th at 1:00 pm. I forgot to enter the date/time in my calendar as a reminder so January 28th I called Vista Tree Service to confirm the date/time. No answer. A message was left to return my call. Monday January 31st nothing. I called back late in the day and left a second message asking for a return call to confirm the date/time. Tuesday I finally received a call from their office and was told they would be out Friday February 4th between 7:45 - 8:00 am. I said great........ but was wondering if I had not called and requested to confirm the date/time, would I have been informed of the time change?? You'd think they would have called to let a customer know a change in either the date and/or time. I roll out of bed Friday morning at 7:00 am thinking I had plenty of time to get ready prior to their arrival. At 7:05 Mikes worker (son) is buzzing to get in and get started. Mind you I was told by their office just 3 days prior that they would be here Friday between 7:45 - 8:00 am. What changed? I told their "worker" about the scheduled time and early arrival and was not overly pleased with their lack of informing a customer of changes in schedule. From the start he comes across cocky, arrogant and hot tempered and said because we have a "bee" issue in the area they will be working they wanted to get started as early as possible while it's cool and before the bees become active. I completely understand this and would have been more than accommodating however 1) do you think you might want to call the customer ahead of time (maybe a day or two prior) and let them know of any change in the scheduled date/time??? Isn't that what a good reputable business that gives a shit about their customer does?? I'm quite sure you have a damn phone.......... use it!, 2) for their employee to come off cocky, arrogant and hot tempered with a customer, and while on my property....... there is no damn way I would EVER hire them or refer them to anyone. Their customer service and relations are horrible and that's putting it mildly which from reading several of the previous reviews is not the first time it's been on display. They may do a good job from some people, however if you want to roll the dice and see if you're one that get's treated like shit go for it. Myself.......... They struggle to answer the phone but usually give a call back after a few messages. They showed up an hour late for the removal then asked to borrow our shovel and pick axe. Seems strange not to bring your own tools for a bamboo removal. There was a misunderstanding the quote and price but eventually they did what was promised on the quote for the price given. I wish I could give them 0 stars. We had an estimate scheduled last month and the gave us a two hour window and they showed up right at the two hour mark. Today they were scheduled to do the work between 1 and 3 pm and never called at 230 we called dispatch and she said they should be there at 3 maybe 330 at the latest. Well, it is 515pm. No call no show and dispatch won't answer the phone. Wasted day!!!!!!!! I added two stars because they finally showed up two hours late outside there 3 hour window and did a pretty good job. I had them take down a tree last year and was very happy with their service. I now find that they do not return phone calls most of the time and do not care about responding to their customers. After many phone calls to schedule a quote, I discovered that they went to the wrong address. When I called them to notify them of their mistake, they never returned my call. They might be good at trimming trees but are not good at informing neighbors. They did my neighbors trees and in the process let branches fall on my herb garden and on some glass shelves with clay pots. The workers did look over the fence and saw that I had lots of planters near the fence. They did not seem to care so I though the "professionals" would know what they were doing. Accidents happen and that's okay but I was not informed branches were falling in my yard until I heard a crash and my herb garden was smashed. Then they finally said they need to clear some branches in my back yard. The guy tried to be helpful but was also not following any of the safety protocol put in place for Covid and got mad when I asked him to stand back. I do not want a sweaty stranger on top of me in my back yard. He should know to keep his distance. Workers were rude and also could not keep 6 feet away. We strongly recommend this business. They showed up 20 minutes early to trim our evergreen ash. We were really impressed! They had three very large trucks, two chippers (they only used one), and six workers. They worked very efficiently. Before they started trimming they completely cleared off our patio and they even wrapped tarp around our air conditioner to protect it. They completed the job in just two hours. When they were done they moved all furniture back onto the patio and did a terrific job of cleaning up the debris. Vista Tree removed three troublesome trees from our property in Carlsbad, one of which was very tall (50 ft?). They arrived on time with a team of about 6 or 7 men and several heavy equipment vehicles. I could tell they were very experienced in the manner they were taking down the tree. I also noticed they practiced safe work practices. OSHA would be pleased! They were here most of the day and when they were gone, so were the troublesome trees. They also cleaned up after themselves and left the place tidy. Moreover, their price was reasonable considering all the work that was done. We met the owner previously to get a quote and he was a great non-nonsense type of guy. Better yet, he was a certified arborist, so we knew things would be done right. And they were. My sister uses Vista Tree for her estate in Vista which has many palm trees. That is where we heard about them. She said they were the best and we agree. read more
