Bratwurst Sandwich with Rotkohl (Red Cabbage) and Kartoffelpuffer (Potato Pancake)
    Alan B.

I was shocked to see a German restaurant near all these businesses. Thought I'd give it a try, I got the bratwurst sandwich, with red cabbage and potato pancake. The red cabbage was pretty amazing, I'd order a whole plate if I could! I went ham on the spicy mustard, thinking it wasn't gonna be bad. It's a different kind of spicy, not the kind that you have to down a gallon of milk for, more like a hot heatwave to your face!! It was actually kind of addicting, I kept trying it for the experience haha. The brats were good and the pancake was "on point". Not like moms, but next in line. The red cabbage was better than moms! I really wanted a slice of Black Forest cake, but I was stuffed and had a long drive. For sure coming back. The inside is very homey and calm.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, and incredible service from Davonte. Don't be fooled by the tucked away nature of this restaurant- the flavors delivered and the drinks were also great. This place is definitely worth the visit! If you want great German food- this is the place to go!

From the moment I walked in, it felt like a little slice of Germany with all the German writing, photos, fresh flower centerpieces and beautiful landscape scenes decorating the space. Even our server spoke German, which was super cool and added to the vibe. We stopped in just for drinks and a small bite to eat. As soon as we saw the XXL pretzel on the menu, we knew we had to get it! Wow... it did not disappoint! It was warm, soft, and paired perfectly with the cheese sauce. The service was great! Our server was super friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. They also have a pretty spacious patio area. We didn't sit out there, but I took a sneak peek. It looks like an awesome spot to hang out and socialize with friends on a nice day! Already planning to come back and try more of the menu! The currywurst, schnitzel, and goulash soup came highly recommended. Plus, I'm definitely getting another pretzel!

I wanted so much to love this little German restaurant. The venue is cozy and looks and feels the part. We had reservations and were sat at a high top for two. The high top chairs were wildly uncomfortable. Our server was very attentive but did not seem to master her role. Maybe she was a bit new to the position. I tried the German Whiskey and the Cherry Brandy. The whiskey was fine but the brandy was oxidized. I do not think the spirits get ordered very often. My whiskey glass was not clean and I could see mouth marks from the last guest The food was OK. I had the pork schnitzel hunter style. It was cooked properly but the seasoning was meek. The mushroom sauce was tasty but there was very little. My wife had the meatloaf. It is very akin to fried spam or a hot dog. The best bite was the pretzel roll. It was warm, soft, and delicious. We spent $100 and I left wanting something more. Three stars is generous.

Amazing little German restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely and they treat you like family. The food is homemade right there in the restaurant and is delicious. We were greeted by Carolina who is so warm and welcoming. It's a very small restaurant so I would recommend reservations. I can't emphasize enough how delicious the homemade food is and how cozy and inviting the restaurant is. Oh and the prices are absolutely affordable and the portions are large. This place is definitely a gem everyone should go to..!!!

Enjoyed the meal immensely. Ordered pretzel, goulash, and spaetzle. Authentic fare. Save room for dessert.

11/10 food and overall experience if you're looking for traditional German cuisine. Could not recommend this place more. Excellent service, but nothing comes close to the food here.

My husband and I were craving Bavarian pretzels after looking at all the cool Christmas lights in Scottsdale, this was the perfect spot! According to their instagram and yelp they were closed but google said open so we called to check. We ordered on DoorDash and it was ready on time for pickup. It's tucked away, was tough to find especially at night! It's a little place! Pickup was quick and easy! We got two pretzels with beer cheese and I got a cucumber salad. The salad was fresh and vinegary! The pretzels were warm and soft, super delicious. I liked the cheese but my husband wasn't a fan as he doesn't like Brie cheese. Really good place for authentic German cuisine!

Not the best Vienna schnitzel and spatzle I've ever had

I love German food and was excited to come try Treffpunkt for Restaurant Week but ended up disappointed. We were told you could only order off the Restaurant Week menu, which has three entrees. I've never encountered that restriction in all my years here in the Valley. That's fine if that's your decision as a business but then you should note that on your website and on the AZ Restaurant Week site. (I had checked both.) I wouldn't have made the thirty minute drive up if I'd known, as my sons wanted items off the regular menu. To make matters worse, they were out of rouladen, leaving only two entrees to choose from. Though our server was nice, service was very slow and uneven. Once our food arrived it was very underwhelming. The pretzel was very dry and bland with an odd tasting cheese sauce that had a crust on it like it had been sitting around. The schnitzel and spatzle had no flavor and just weren't executed well compared to what I've had before. I will say that the apple strudel was fine. I left very dissatisfied and sorry I'd made the trek.

Came here to get some lunch and we were pretty upset about the service. From the moment we walked in it wasn't very friendly and we should have left. It wasn't busy either, there was 1 customer when we went in and then throughout our experience it was three of us including my baby. The older gentleman that brought menus was pretty rude and you could tell he didn't want to help us but my mom wanted schnitzel so bad so I stayed. We ordered some goulasch which was good, the schnitzels were alright, the potato pancakes were extremely doughy and weren't cooked all the way inside so we ended up not eating them. We had the worst service, nobody checked on us, didn't bring any condiments, didn't ask if we needed anything else. Ashley the General Manager came over and introduced herself during our meal and finally brought some ketchup. The older gentleman was sitting down on his phone the entire time, walking around the dining area. It took a good 15-20 min for us to get our bill when another employee finally walked back in (they were setting up outside I'm assuming) the dining room we asked him for our check so we can leave. Again, no kind of interaction really he just handed my mom the check. It just wasn't a pleasant experience at all and we didn't enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant one bit. We won't be back. I do like that they sell lebkuchen herzen but I was so over it, I forgot to buy one.

You walk in and it really does feel like a lively bier garten. There's many sections, and most of it outdoors. The colors, furnishings, patio games, TVs, music, etc make it feel like a place you could relax for hours Their menu boasts an impressive 28 beers on tap (including imports). They also have a large variety of appetizers and other tasty dishes meals. These dishes are made from scratch and much of the cuisine is European inspired. You'll find a variety of brats, burgers, salads, etc. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. We could have easily have spent many more hours there but there was more of Scottsdale to see Some tips: We went in the spring and it was absolutely gorgeous outside. It's now summer hours and it looks like they're adjusting their schedule accordingly. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The rest of the days they're open 12-9pm (they open an hour earlier Saturday and Sunday, and they close an hour early on Sunday) Our server was incredible gracious, attentive, and professional. She gave us recommendations for the area and also food/drink to try You can make reservations, but we just did a walk-in. I think this more applies to larger groups as they're able to accommodate that. They also accommodate private parties (see their website) There appears to be a trivia night every Wednesday at 7pm. There's Girls Night Out Friday specials from 3pm-close. Join the Stein Club (rewards program). Ask your server how to join Explore Old Town Scottsdale either before or after. We were reluctantly let into the small inside eating area being followed by the manager after he stared unbelievingly at my ADA documentation. The manager was not reasonable with my sister when she explained he is welcome in public accommodations as a service animal; he glared at us until we walked out! I am a HUGE fan on Brat Haus but this discrimination is unacceptable especially with heat as an excuse on a water cooled patio bc of my invisible disability. EDIT: I have changed my 1 star to a 4 star review as I genuinely appreciate the owner's fair explanation/ accountability and do not want to inhibit this genuinely awesome restaurant from succeeding. I love my dog and I want him safe as well... but yes, this experience was NOT ideal. There were many shaded, misted patio areas with wet floors spots as it was a watery event. He would have been comfortable and safe on the ground, not in lap, if seated appropriately. There was not a large crowd for this event and therefore a LOT of room to accommodate. That said, from prior visits, I recommend the beer "Fin du Monde"

For me, it was a big hike up to the north side- but totally worth the haul! I grew up in the Midwest, occasionally going to one or two German restaurant/ clubs, so this was not an unfamiliar atmosphere to me. It is definitely a "seasoned" vibe, having immediately taken over the space by a former western bar/beer hall that had been in existence for 50+ years. Their menu says "German and Hungarian" but all I read was German. They have a solid European beer selection, including taps and bottles and some cocktails with a German twist. The one that threw me for a loop (in the best way) was Kriek! So ofc I got a pint. We shared a (fairly large) pretzel to start, which comes with beer cheese. Tasty, but I was genuinely shocked there was no mustard. I ordered the jagerschnitzel (pork) and just overall the meal was as expected as if I was in the Midwest - amazing, delicious, insert chef's kiss. I wish I could have joined the clean plate club. The cucumber salad was flavorful and not too sour/pickley. My friend and I both noted how umami the savory sauce was- not too bacon, not too mushroom. The potatoes were not too salty or under-seasoned. Literally willing to drive up again if/when someone tells me to go. It wasn't horribly busy so it didn't take forever to order and get everything we needed. Our server was super nice and patient. She even gave a bar suggestion that ended up being a nice cherry for the top of the evening.
