Besides helping me out over the phone, and in person he was so nice to me and said there was no payment since he just adjusted it. Just about everyone I've been in contact with has been fairly helpful and professional. Not a huge selection of bikes at this location but they will certainly help find the right ride from their inventory. If looking to purchase, do your homework and research their brands before you go in as they are not necessarily competitively priced on all models and accessories. The guys in the shop are heavily involved in promoting cycling in the community. It needed a bit of servicing since then. Admittedly I weigh more than I'd like to and I ride hard but that's where the beauty of these gentlemen come in. They are all passionate cyclists with an obvious love for the sport and great respect for anyone else who cycles (no matter how much they weigh, lol) They take it as a personal challenge and mission to solve whatever problem comes between you your bike and the ability to truly enjoy your ride. The only thing they don't like and actually seem upset about is the time you will be off the road. Anyway long story long, these guys went above and beyond to make sure I was properly taking care of and that my bike is performing as it should or even better. Great staff and very knowledgeable. Try to come during the off season (not summer) to buy a bike for a wider selection. Fall is when they get in new season orders. If you want to try out a bike to ride there is a giant parking lot in the back with plenty of space. Wear something comfortable to ride. Don't be afraid to test different bikes out. I originally thought I wanted a hybrid but actually worked out better getting a road bike. Any accessories can be found other places but I'm not sure if it'll be cheaper. My first experience was a great one. It's well stocked with experienced folks. I found the prices competitive.

I had two LBS options in mind for a fitting. One said, call the day of and see if we're busy and BB was able to set an appointment. I'm a planner so their Tuesday & Thursday options worked best for me. My road bike and I met with Scott on a Thursday. Friendly and knowledgeable- his first question was "What's your goal" ... I appreciated the concern for my needs. I want to go faster and rack up for miles. He took measurements and made adjustments to saddle and handle bars all while giving explanations and providing feedback while watching me on the trainer. A man helping a woman with saddle adjustments must be awkward - but he asked the right questions and I was comfortable sharing my pain points. All and all a good visit and I can't wait to ride this evening. He gave me things to consider to increase efficiency (pedals & shoes) which I will keep in mind if these adjustments yields the results he was certain of. Every rider is different so take the time and invest in yourself & your ride. Money well spent. read more

I was needing some bike accessories for an adult bike and some training wheels plus a kiddie bell for a kiddie bike. There were 3 employees when I walked in on a Thursday afternoon, none of whom even acknowledged I was there. Nobody asked if I needed assistance. Nobody said hello or smiled. I walked around the small shop, searching for the accessories I needed, but I didn't find what I needed. I might have bought something if an employee had tried to assist me. DO NOT GO HERE FOR CHILD BIKE ACCESSORIES. They had zero. I stopped by Target next, which had everything. I love to support small businesses, but I will not be back to this place. The staff at Trek in Kingwood has a sincere interest in what my preferences and needs are without ever being pushy. Their turnaround time on bike maintenance is always quick (if not immediate/on the spot), thorough and very reasonably priced. I am not an "elitist" cyclist. I am a typical middle-aged Dad who happens to love riding my bike and, although most of our family's bikes happen to be the Trek brand, my non-Trek bikes and I get treated with equal care. I have always enjoyed visiting them at their old location when they were the Bike Barn in Atascosita but their new location in Kingwood is even better. One of the two previous reviewers encouraged me to check out Bike Barn when I told him I was in the market for a new bike. I haven't had a bike since my middle school days, so needless to say I had no idea what I was looking for. After some discussion with a few other cyclists and research on the interwebs, I knew I wanted a hybrid bike and really hoped to find a leopard print helmet to finish the look! I had Ryan R. meet me there so I could work the buddy system and have someone who knows the lingo. As soon as I walked in the door the staff was friendly and helpful. I actually ended up working with Steve, who is also the manager and he took his time walking me through what they had available. He took into account the type of activity I wanted to do, my physical frame and my budget. After only a few minutes of discussion he was ready to let me get on a bike and start test riding. I initially went with a bike with more suspension in the seat, as I was worried about the comfort of my bum. Then I test rode the Trek Neko Hybrid. Initially I thought the bike made me lean forward too far and put a lot of strain on my hands and shoulders. After discussing this with Steve and expressing my need for a pretty bike, I noticed the other Trek Neko that was once size larger than the one I test rode. He agreed that it might actually be a good fit and I went out on the third test ride of the day...and as they say, third times a charm! Not only where my hands and shoulders more comfortable, I didn't miss the seat suspension because this one offered front suspension. I was sold, and after a few more accessories (but no leopard print helmet), I can officially call myself a cyclist! I've done a few rides on the bike so far, and could not be more happy with my purchase. The Bike Barn offers adjustments and tune ups, as well as a slew of bike accessories and gear. While growing up, my parents owned a successful bike store in Colorado; so, I tend to have higher expectations than some. I am mentioning this, because I feel that my past experience and knowledge is an important factor to this review. I am happy to report, that I have been extremely satisfied with the services, which this store has provided. I found, that everyone that I spoke with were both knowledgeable and friendly. Walked in here with a plan to spend up to 2 grand on bikes and accessories, left with still fat wallets and nothing in our hands. Why? Because they are seriously lacking in the customer service department. Though I really liked the bikes we were planning to buy, I was so put off by the attitude of a few employees that I decided I could find the bikes elsewhere. I'd rather give my hard earned money to a company that treats it's customers well. So what happened? When we walked in, no one said hello or asked to help us, though there were at least 3 employees on the floor, and only 1 other customer. Finally a guy approached us and asked what we wanted. He acted nervous and agitated. He mumbled ok and left. After a few minutes he returned with another guy and said, Ummm...this guy (name) is going to help you now...ummm...I ...ummm...have to ...do something else." WHAT?!?!?! Did we smell? Was he working there undercover for the FBI? I have no idea, but did see him go towards the back of the store and stand by a counter. And do nothing else. The other guy was fairly kind, though not especially helpful. He seemed nervous and a bit put off that he had to help us rather than do whatever he had been doing prior to being handed over. I tried out a few bikes, as did my children(we are planning to purchase 3 bikes as well as gear such as lights in the next 2 weeks). At one point he was telling me about a $550 bike I wanted to buy and only noted the range of colors and that the "chain thingy" could move with a "button"! OK, so I've never been in Tour de France, but I'm not a biking idiot. Bikes have other names for the "chain thingys" and "buttons". Pre-children we biked quite a bit are about to start our oldest child in triathlons. Though currently we may be a bit out of shape; this ain't our first rodeo. At one point one of my kids ran into a bike. Not 1 but TWO different employees took the opportunity to scoff and tell us to watch our kids. What do you expect? I'm not going to buy $600 of children's bikes without them touching them first. If I was just going to grab a bike and go, I'd go to Target. Due to the unpleasant attitude of virtually everyone in the store, I decided not to buy local and have now ordered what I need on Amazon. Big business wins again. I bought my first road bike here this year! Going into the store I didn't do too much research. The sales guy wasn't high pressure and I really felt like he was trying to understand what I was going to use the bike for and try to fit my needs. He let me test ride the bike I would come back to buy, but suggested that I research for myself since he knew I was new to the hobby. I did come back and purchased a Specialized Sectuer, I look forward to riding it for years and will definitely come back for service here! Serious case of buyer beware. On two separate occasions at two separate stores (Atascocita and West U.) did this company price their product over the Manufacturer's Suggested Price. On one occasion, I used my phone to look up the price and the sales person corrected and discounted in apology. On the second occasion, I didn't think to look until I got home. It's just a cheap "department store" bike but when I walked into Bike Barn they treated me like it was a $2000 Trek. Long story short, I received a new bike mail order yesterday. It was built and I just needed to put the seat and bars on the bike. It has the new electronic Ultegra DI2 shifting and regardless of everything I tried I could not get it to charge. The shop where it was bought said to take it to a local shop to be checked out and let them know. I was a bit apprehensive to go to a shop with a new bike not bought there. Well Bike Barn Atascocita said no worries bring it to the shop. Turns out a tool to securely snap in one wire was missing when sent to me. Ben quickly found the issue with a bit of input from Craig. I had the best experience at this Bike Barn. From the moment my wife and I walked in, we were greeted and assisted by the most positive individuals. Felipe fixed our bikes for us, and he explained and demonstrated everything he was doing in order to repair our bikes. He even showed us how to fix an issue on our bike that could have been harmful if we rode the bike without getting fixed. Felipe showed us different things we could use for bike repair but I never felt pressured to buy anything. The repairs were done quickly yet very efficiently. After struggling with my bike, researching good bikes, reviews and feedback from staff, my wife and I returned ours and started investing on good bikes. This is my third experience at a Bike Barn and each have been terrible. I walked into this location to get basic pedals to ride in Critical Mass the coming Friday. I walked in no one greeted me or any other customer in the shop. I walked back to the shop area and waited with a another family that was in the back. No one in the shop area acknowledged our presence to see what we needed or answer a quick question. The pedals I needed were behind the counter so I didn't want to go in an area not easily accessible for customers. Waited for about 10min with employees walking back and forth saying nothing to us. The family left irritated, but I waited longer to see if anything would happen. Waited another 10 min and nothing, with employees walking past me. A guy that saw me waiting in the back actually had the nerve to help another customer that walked in after me without speaking a word to me. He literally avoided eye contact with me to help this customer. Not sure what is up with Bike Barn but I'll stick with Performance Bicycle, NEVER had an issue with them unlike this company. read more
