you would think you buy a 800.00 bike and it would come with a kick stand, nope they want to charge you extra buyer beware

I went there to look for a hard tail mountain bike to upgrade from my old Scott XC bike. Matt was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and found a bike that checked all the boxes for me. Roscoe 7 Gen 4 in a cool Army olive green color as a bonus. It actually fit my short little legs being a small size with 27.5 inch wheels. When I came back with my bike rack and my wife, she had questions for Matt regarding an electric cruiser. He directed her to an Electra Townie, with a paint scheme that looked like the clouds at sunset in Hawaii (she's Hawaiian). This bike checked all the boxes for her as well. He was able to answer her many questions and give her some pointers from first hand experience. He and his wife own the same bike. I have used their bike assembly services twice now and both times were great. It's a challenge when you don't quite have the proper tools or knowledge to assemble a bike. The first time was for a DMX bike I ordered online. It ended up being child size (whoops). So I posted it and found a great kid who loved it. I had piece of mind knowing the bike was very solid and well put together. The second time was for a cool cruiser bike I got online as well. Again excellent job. Brought in my used Electra Townie ( purchased elsewhere) because of perceived noise in hydraulic disc brakes. The man at the counter was very helpful and put the bike up on the rack and did a close inspection. Said everything looked good-- and even test rode it outside. Gave it a good bill of health. No charge. I was expecting to at least have to do brake pads and was pleasantly surprised . What a great shop-- I would definitely recommend. Honest and friendly-- great advice. Excellent buying experience and excellent customer service when picking up the bike. Purchased an FX2 about ten days ago, paid for it and waited for it to arrive. In the meantime a Sale went into effect on both the bike and helmet I had ordered and paid for. On pick-up today, Trek honored the sale price and refunded the difference. Today we added some extras (water bottle, etc.), I was shown how to remove the wheels (hydraulic disk brakes) and we spent time in the parking lot positioning the saddle and familiarizing me with the machine. Earlier this year, I purchased my new Trek Mountain Bike via the Trek Store. The bike had to be ordered, but still arrived ahead of schedule! They got me setup and out the door! Douchebag bike shop. I don't know how they got "best bike shop in Sonoma county"... They raped me on cables and housings (over $50 for housing, and one brake, and one derailleur cable). WAY too much. The guy at the register was so embarrassed when he rung me up that he gave me a 10% discount. Lame. EXPENSIVE AS HELL. I guess they would have rather tried to get me to buy a nice new bike, instead of fixing my own. Also, why do bike sales people there wear slacks? This isn't IBM folks, it's a bike shop. Lame. You look like poseurs, and it just makes look like a fool when you do things like tell customers that they shouldn't buy premium protective gear. They actually tried to talk me out of looking at the their higher-end helmets "because we sell a lot more of the cheaper ones". That's what I want to hear. Oh yeah, and when I went in (giving them a second chance - shame on me) to check out some helmets, the sales people tried to tell me the only reason that companies (Bontrager, Giro, etc) make really expensive helmets, is to sell the mid-priced ones. Uhhhh... Yeah... No, I don't think that's actually it gang - and thanks for telling me I DON'T want to buy the best helmet, and that the features that I would buy the BEST helmet for, aren't worth the money TO ME. Invalidating customers, remedial sales personnel don't make for a good sales experience. I will not ever go back to this store. Shops like this are the reason online sales are thriving. Maybe they just need to flush their staff, and hire some people who actually know about bicycles and equipment, and aren't wannabe Used Car Sales people. Try someplace else... I bike commuter so I use my bike every day. When I first bought my bike I was a complete rookie. The folks at Trek were extremely patient with my silly questions and offered no pressure to buy. I have been back since and they are all very friendly and helpful. I buy all my accessories (bag, lock, gloves, etc.) at Trek and would not go anywhere else. I get my bike serviced there and they always do a very nice job. I am only in 3-4 times a year and the staff all know me by face and many by name. Top notch, friendly, knowledgeable service! Trek was the bike shop at the recent Ironman Vineman in Windsor. I had transported my bike via the awesome TriBike Transport. It started raining when I was riding to my NY bike drop off - I didn't realize until I picked up my bike in CA that my pedals had rusted shut and would not turn. The Trek guys took my pedals to try and fix them and were kind enough to bring a new pair of pedals back from the shop the next day in case the repaired pedals didn't work. Thank goodness - on my test ride, the right pedal completely fell apart because of the rust and stripped bearings. This was 2 days before the race. Cue the panic. Even though they looked completely shot, several of the mechanics tried to save my grubby looking pedals. If they hadn't been thoughtful enough to try and fix my pedal (and save me some $), AND bring a back-up pair, my 7 months of training would have gone to waste. They were not pushy at all trying to sell me anything, despite how busy they were. I even went online and couldn't find anyone that could deliver new Speedplay pedals via next day delivery. Thanks sooooo much Trek!! I had an awesome race (PR'd my bike split!) and appreciate your help/professionalism - will definitely visit when I am next in town. read more

So only really used them because the guy I got my bike from works with them. Mostly just went for things like tires and tubes and that had been fine so figured time to go to them for more. So a couple weeks ago went in asking about a problem with my derailleur, getting a new tire and asking questions about a tune ... Which I guess was a mistake because they perked up a bunch and immediately took my wheel back saying they weren't sure they had that exact tire for what I had assumed was just to look and match. And since they come back saying they don't have that exact one but have a better one for a little more even more backs that up. Turns out not the case as after having to look away for a bit I see them already trying to change it and them ringing me up for both the tire and the apparently iirc $17 worth of work changing it. Not wanting to really make a deal about it I just joke oh I guess you are changing it too guess that saves me time. Before I leave the person talks to me about how the whole front derailleur cable assembly probably needs replace and I mention I only really use the higher gear so I'd probably just fix it in place or remove... and this is where I start perking up as they try to convince me the only reason the chain isn't constantly coming off the gear is because it is there. Then casually mentions that the brakes aren't good and the back wheel is a little wobbly. I admit both true but not really a huge deal. I ride back home and immediately notice the back wheel is much more wobbly. But more than that I have a completely new issue that has taken me a little to to completely figure out but now think I have it down. As far as I can tell the bearings in the rear wheel are messed up now. All of a sudden I can hear a metal scraping noise come from there. And while I am just coasting the cassette will now attempt to move all on it's own now and then. I say attempt because if my feet are on the pedals the chain isn't going to move so that sometimes holds it in place... sometimes the move is big enough it just jerks and makes the chain jump... in a way that weirdly might just make it come off the front if the derailleur wasn't there... but I'm sure that is just a coincidence. If my feet aren't on the pedals it just moves and the chain moves with it Go back in next week but none of the maintenance guys are there so that's fine. Try again another day and get the same guy I got before and bring up the old problems with the new and wondering how much I could get done with the tune up... and that was a clear mistake. First non-stop gaslights me on how just changing a tire could've done any of that... despite the fact he clearly messed around with it a bit more checking it out before and well ya know it immediately started right after. But don't worry he can fix the problem that definitely wasn't caused here but will likely cost a bit. Wont let me get any word in edge wise constantly talking over me as he explains can't just fix these few issues it would be so unsafe they'd be responsible or something... so I must spend $600 repairing a bike I just spent $100 getting a new tire from that I only spent $700 for 5 years ago. So that's a big no. Apparently though it isn't unsafe for me to walk out with nothing so that happened. So yeah can't speak for other Trek stores but this one trying to hustle you crazy like and will do and charge you for things you didn't ask and upsell everything read more

Thanks to the pandemic, I have found myself in THE WORST shape ever. Working 12 hour night shifts as an RN at a busy local hospital (up to 60 hours in a week sometimes!), I simply couldn't find the time (or motivation) to get out and ride. So I decided to look into e-bikes. By phone my interactions were great. They explained what they had in their inventory and what my best options were. Once I got there, I was met by a very sweet young man named Clark that had a plethora of knowledge. My boyfriend who came with me was so taken back by this young man's knowledge he ended up buying tires etc while there. Clark is very approachable and easy to talk to. He had great ideas and knew the products well. They adjusted the bikes to my size/weight (I was debating between the powerFly FS and Rail 7). The mechanic James offered up more insight into the mechanics aspects, pros/cons of each bike, based on my type and style of riding. I was able to test ride each of them in the parking lot. After signing a release, I decided to test ride the one I felt I was leaning more towards. For anyone thinking ebikes are cheating, I can guarantee you it's not "cheating.' They are SO FUN and their prices have really dropped making them marketable to so many! A little help up hill so I'm not exhausted down hill, and motivated to go out and ride after a stressful night of being on my feet for 13+ hours is exactly what I needed to get back towards getting in shape. Trek shop stands behind their products, they offer free adjustments first 30 days, $100 off your first service, and so much more! I can't wait to see where this bike will take me and I feel reassured that if anything happens, Trek will stand behind their product. Great job Trek Shop!!! read more

Trek Bicycle Store Santa Rosa gets 1 star for their awful customer service. They were the sponsor for VINEMAN 70.3 and total snobs to the pricing policies of the other Trek stores. Do NOT communicate to the blonde gal with glasses unless you want your head bit off. This is extra disappointing because I've been to several Trek stores where the service is excellent, which is why I kept going back until this event. I recently decided to move from mountain to road biking. It had been 10-15 years since I had been on a road bike and the technology had become a little overwhelming. I stopped into the store and talked to several of the staff who were all very helpful in bringing me up to speed. Bret, the owner, spent a significant amount of time helping me road test a number of models. I was never pushed or coaxed to more bike than I needed. After a little more research, I ordered a 2.1 and took delivery a few days later. The bike was set up and customized to my needs, and I headed out on my maiden ride. Not five miles into the ride I experienced a flat tire and spent 1+ hours fumbling about trying to fix it. Unsuccessful, I pushed the bike back to a main road and called a cab. The next morning I returned to the store where I was given a first-hand private tutorial on replacing a tube by owner Bret. Bret and his staff were intent on turning around an unpleasant experience and ensuring my satisfaction. I was also surprised to see the tech collaborate with his co-workers over the issue, which I found the be very positive. I got out of there for $24 in parts and tips on a few simple repairs. Would have loved to have dropped $500 on a bike today but they didnt take American Express. I can understand a little cheap place not taking amex. A place where everything is over $300 chould definately accept Amex. They said they would take a check but I didnt have one with me. Maybe I will go back with my check book, maybe not. Trek helped me out in a pinch when a broken shifter would not allow my front sprocket to shift. The tech fixed it no charge in 5 minutes. I vowed to bring it back for full repair when I had time. This place has really knowledgeable and friendly staff. Trek bikes are some of the best known for both road and mountain. While this store only caters to Trek's their selection is wide and also includes bicycle clothing, shoes and accessories all at reasonable prices. Plus if you talk with the sales rep's they will usually let you know about sales and discounts available. They'll let you test ride anything you want and give you tips about fit and feel to the bikes they have. Easy parking and great location. read more

I am so thankful for this bike shop. I was in town last weekend for the Vineman full triathlon. I noticed on Friday morning that my rear derailleur was making an unusual sound. In a panic I called the Trek store and spoke to John. Despite being booked for service he helped me out and serviced my bike so it was shifting smoothly again. John was so helpful he explained to my husband and I what work I should have done to my bike once I return home. Turns out I need a new chain and some other minor work done to the bike which I will do back at home with my LBS. I really appreciated the time he spent with us and the fact that he didn't try to push any products on us. read more

Generally when buying a bike I look for a dinged-up $1000 bike at pawn shops and such for $100-200 or so. Apparently everyone else in the Bay Area knows that trick, though, so after finding nothing I decided to buy Trek's cheapest mountain bike here (which was still $350). Everyone is professional as can be here and the customer service is great. But the big bonus? Apparently you're supposed to bring any bike you buy here back in in like 60 days or so for a free "initial tune-up". I didn't ride my bike hardly at all for the first 3 or 4 months, or so, so I totally forgot about that. Fast forward to nearly 2 years laters and I decide it's time for the bike to get annual TLC before winter, so I bring it down. I have $50 in hand ready to pay for maintenance and they're like, "Hey, computer says you never got your initial tune-up, we'll take your bike for free brah." And they did. I didn't ask for this, they just volunteered it. I bet the hipster commie bike shops wouldn't have voluntarily turned down $50. Also 5 stars for being able to watch football while waiting rather than having to listen to Pomplamoose being blasted by some guy with a neckbeard and a preposterous hat. read more
