It moved from Connecticut to Belgium, to Miami and now California with me. I wanted a flatter bar, three piece crank and a modern derailleur and, of course, needed new tires, steering head bearing work, brake setup and new cables. So not cheap, but within what I expected and I can't complain about the results. Before and after in the photos. They even retained one of the steering head original shifters to shift the now one by 9 (or is it eight) sprocket setup. Highly recommend these folks.

They figured it out with what they had in stock and had us off to the venue that afternoon with working dropper post! This is just the most recent excellent service experience i've had with these guys. I've also stopped in with random issues like broken brake lever and breaking the end off a bolt from over-torquing (user error) Highly recommended these guys for servicing your bike!

1 STAR -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more Absolutely horrible experience at the REI bike shop. I brought in my own wheel to have a hub swapped, and I was initially quoted $140 for the job. I received an email saying the wheel would be ready in four days, so I waited. Four days came and went -- nothing. After I reached out, I finally received a call two days later telling me they hadn't even started the work and that the price was now going to be another $100 for spokes. That was completely unacceptable. I already had access to the correct spokes for around $20. If there was going to be an additional charge, that should have been communicated clearly before taking the job and making me wait nearly a week. Then, two days later, I get another call saying the wheel is ready. Except it wasn't really "ready." They essentially built the wheel and handed it back bare bones -- no tire installed, no cassette installed, and no rotor installed. And here's the part that really irritated me: they wanted to charge me another hour of labor just to install the cassette. We're talking about installing a cassette onto the freehub -- something that takes minutes. I was honestly shocked. I've used this same REI bike shop in the past for a similar wheel build, and the experience was completely different. A few years ago, I paid around $140, and the wheel was properly put together without all of these additional charges and headaches. This time, the whole experience felt like they were looking for every possible opportunity to add another charge instead of actually helping the customer. The lack of communication was just as frustrating as the pricing. To make matters worse, I was asked to sign a release of liability essentially because I didn't pay extra for them to install the tire and cassette. At that point, I couldn't help but feel like the entire experience had become ridiculous. A bike shop should make things easier for the customer, not turn a straightforward repair into a series of unexpected charges and delays. I won't be returning to this location. After being a previous customer, I expected much better. Extremely disappointed and definitely not the level of service I expected from REI.

I was on a mission to buy my husband a great bike as a gift. We made our rounds to many bike stores and wete so happy with the selection and service community bikes had to offer. Everyone was so kind. They have a huge selection and the bikes are extremely reasonable. Nothing there is new but all donated and 2nd hand and refurbished. I would highly recommended them for a 2nd hand bike. My husband liked the new REI bike better so we went back for that.

I ended up purchasing from them and am quite happy with my new bike and their customer service. They also rent eBikes here and have suggestions for nice country paths to take originating from their shop, up to varies wineries. I plan on taking my new bike on some of these paths sometime. Revel is not just a bike shop but they also do repairs and tune ups, and sell various accessories such as locks and Camelback Podium water bottles, etc. They're friendly and accommodating here and I dig the location in The Barlow shopping district, which is really nice.

Instead I took my BIKE FRIDAY to Dan at Revel Cycles. He repaired with tools and parts he had in the shop. Took him about an hour and he charged me a very reasonable rate. What I thought was gonna be complicated for me turned out to be straightforward at Revel Cycles. Revel Cycles is full sales and service bike shop. It appears to have a large selection of new bikes and accessories. I would highly recommend checking out Revel in the Sebastopol Barlow for your cycle needs.
