I was sad when Bicycles, Inc departed Keller and headed east to Southlake. Bicycles, Inc has been my go to bicycle shop for a long time, over 20 years now. Having them in my 'hood was icing on my cake. I bought my first real road bike, a Serotta, from the old Harwood location (from Ian). I still have that bike. It's a keeper. If I'm driving past the store, I'll usually stop in to say to Rick. I know Rick from the (old) Harwood store too. I'm always impressed with the selection of bicycles here. They cover the basics, right up to high-end road bikes. So no matter what your needs, check out Bicycles, Inc. As I said in my previous review, don't expect Wal-Mart prices, but do expect a quality bike backed by a quality store. If you have a bike in need of repairs, Bicycles, Inc is your place too. My brother recently brought in a bike to have a hub rebuilt, as the ball bearings fell out. It was done while we waited and at a very good price. We did bring in the wheel off the bike, and I suspect that sped things up a bit. Lastly, Bicycles, Inc has all manner of clothing and accessories. If you need some kit, or a new farckle, check this place out. Bottom line: If you don't have a bell for your bike, please come in and buy one (and use it). Walked in for bike tuneup and supplies for my kids bikes, first guy at counter immediately asked if he could help and he walked me around the store to gather all that I needed. Wow!! I will never go to another bike shop. This place is unbelievably awesome -- as opposed to the national chain with a bike shop in it down the road that I made the mistake of using previously. Understand that I am a bicyclist the way a kid with an Easy Bake oven is a cook. I don't know what I'm doing and I'm ripe for being taken advantage of. So first what happened at the other place, so you can understand how great this place is: I took my wife's bike into the other one. It had been sitting around and needed obvious attention. Rather than helping me find the cheapest solution -- they up-sold me and talked me into the most expensive option they had. So long story short, after my "discount" I walked out over $300.00 poorer and had to wait several days for the bike. Now to my experience with Bicycles Inc: When I got my new bike from an online vendor, I found that it needed some adjustments. Since the only word I know in the world of bicycle repair is "tune-up," I walked in with my bike, went up to the service counter and told them that my bike was not shifting properly and that I needed a tune-up. The gentleman looked at my bike, and rather than just saying okay, he told me that all I needed was an adjustment to my derailers. He also told me that he could do it while I wait. When I was done shopping for a helmet -- something that they also did not up-sell me on -- the man at service told me that I only needed an adjustment on the front one. The bill for the adjustment was only $15.00!! I could say several other great things about this place, but the short version is this: They are very honest, patient, and helpful. I highly recommend them, and especially Service Manager Jose Galvan, the one in service that helped me and did not take advantage of my lack of knowledge. read more

I have recently started using Bicycles Inc in Southlake to work on my bikes (a Specialized Enduro and a Stumpjumper) and I have been very disappointed with the cost, the wait times and the service. Two recent incidents have caused me to re-evaluate using them for any future work on my bikes. I had the Stumpjumper in with them for a full tune up and 2 weeks later when I got it back it was leaking hydraulic fluid from the rear caliper handle. The tech said that he "forgot" to call me about it even though he called about the chain being worn the day before. My choice was to take the bike and pay the $90 shop fee or leave it for another 2 weeks for this issue to be addressed. This is not the level of quality service that I expect from a shop charging as much as they do. On the Enduro I had a bolt come out of the chainstay. I called specialized and they informed me I had to order the part from a dealer. I called up the shop and was told you have to order the full kit - it will take 5 days to get here and it will be $40. The fact that you have to order the full kit is not the shops fault that is Specialized so I cannot fault them for that. What I do take issue with is going in to pickup the aforementioned bolt kit and being told it was now $60. When I get handed the kit it still has the sticker on it with my name, my number and a line that says "dealer cost - $30". Be aware that ANYTHING you are buying from these guys is being marked up 100%!!!! I understand that it is a business and everyone has a right to make a buck but that is ridiculous. My advice - order your parts online and use Blue Bonnet Bikes in Lewisville for the work. Their pricing is far more reasonable, they don't price gouge their customers and you get timely friendly and knowledgeable service. read more

I have been a customer of Bike's Inc for years and have purchased a LOT of bikes from them. In fact my entire family is riding a bike purchased from this store. I like this store because they don't nickel and dime you for small jobs and they will typically try to do minor repairs on the spot while you wait. It's a great shop that carries good products, but the thing that sets them apart is the people. For example, I recently broke my mountain bike frame that required a completely new frame from the manufacturer. I worked with Stewart at the shop who spent a lot of time dealing with the company to get the right part. After the company sent the wrong part twice, he was able to get me a completely new bike under their warranty program! Finally got new wheels about a month ago, and I looooove 'em! We still go in and bug John just about every Sunday, and he continues to be tireless in answering ALL of our questions. I use both this location and the one on Harwood. I think the selection is good on much better quality bikes than can be found at walmart or Target and fair prices. There we met Stewart, who we told that we were interested in buying in the future, but it wouldn't be for a while. Even so, he spent a good hour with us that day assessing our needs, our goals, height, etc, to match us up with the best possible bike, tell us what accessories we would need, and even talk about local trails. Got my 10-yr old Trek 820 fixed up there. It was done in a week with a new chain, seat, hand grips, and cables. The whole thing was cleaned up and gone over with a fine tooth comb and was like new when I picked it up! Kudos to the Bicycles Inc. team! 2nd time to take our bikes here!Took it in for a tuneup and chain replacement and so called deluxe tuneup $160 +they washed it put a chain on it but didn't adjust the gears at all not one gear worked funny every gear worked when i brought it in !The fact the gear was in the same gear i had it on tells me they didn't work on it and the fact they didn't put my bags back on or with it and i had to come back to get them kinda tells you they didn't finish the job!One star because my husband was happy and i think he just got lucky!Get it together $500 later not a happy customer and you really afford to treat us this way?Now i will take it elsewhere to fix what they did! read more

Very friendly salesman who seemed honest and sincere. The real downside to this place is the service guys. They will tell you one thing on the phone then you show up and the story changes. I wasted about 100 and several days trying to get my road bike worked on and never got anywhere! I ended up switching shops to Grapevine Bike Center. They are much better. read more

Went in to get a replacement inner tube and told the sales person the size I needed. He started walking to the part of the store where the inner tubes were but urged me to stay by the counter and he would be right back. Wish I had followed because I feel I would have been more likely to notice that he got the wrong size tube. As it was I didn't realize it was wrong until I arrived home and I don't live right around the corner. Very aggravating when I called the store to complain and was not offered any apology. Also while I was in the store this same sales person told me to be quiet while he finished talking which I thought was a bit rude. So we had been talking about getting into biking for a while, and we did a bunch of research before going into shops. One of the things we saw were the recent positive reviews for Bicycles INC so this is where we stopped by. We knew about what we wanted and had a set price range, so armed with that and the few questions we had left, we came into the store. Jose was the guy that helped us. He was working with someone when we came in, but told us he'd help as soon as he could. We told him what we were looking for, and then he honestly and openly answered our questions. When the answers indicated a bike that was more expensive, he straight told us instead of just trying to get our hearts set on the bike. It was refreshing to have good help without the hard upsell. We also needed a bike rack to put on the hitch of our SUV. He answered the questions we had about that just as well and even helped us put it on my car. While he worked, he told us what to expect for maintaining the bikes, including bringing it in every so often. Since we haven't done any biking since we were teens, this was very helpful! He gave us a quick layout of trails we can go to and gave us a website so we can find out more. All in all, I am very please with the service we had here and we will be back for our maintenance when it is needed. Jose mentioned that he usually works on the bikes instead of selling them, but I couldn't have been happier with how he helped us. If you are looking into getting into this sport as well, I suggest you come here and check them out. It won't be Wal-Mart cheap, like another review said, but you get what you pay for.
