Avoid any online orders through them. This is the first negative review I've left in my life... I ordered shoes today and then called to cancel that order same day (within 2 hours). Despite the shoes not being shipped out yet I was charged a 30% restocking fee on a $240 pair of shoes. Instead of just charging me the shipping label they won't use (which was likely $15) I'm now paying $70+. I'm happy to pay for the shipping label but ridiculous and unethical to charge a restocking fee when the shoes are still in their possession. I'd caution you against this shop. read more

I've been hunting around for a road bike and after a couple other stops around Dallas ended up at Playtri based on their online inventory. Online inventory was a little out of date - they didn't have what I came in to try, and apparently had stopped carrying the line due to quality issues - but they did have a few alternatives and high quality names. They seemed happy to let me try a few frames out back to compare, were knowledgeable but not pushy - bringing out suggestions and letting me figure out what I liked/disliked. They clearly like what they do and are interested in building a community with different events. Would absolutely recommend and will be back as needed. read more

Ordered a very expensive bike, order processed, when it comes time to ship, the manager of the store, Todd Gordon, calls me to inform me they don't have the bike in inventory. I really like the knowledge of the salesmen here. I found this place while drinking my pumpkin chai from Scooter's Coffee & Yogurt. I told my Hubby to go check it out because he is the one that is getting into cycling. I won a new bicycle from a fitness challenge at my work so Hubby brought it here along with his own to have them looked over, tuned up. Gilbert, the master mechanic, was vary knowledgable and did a great job on both bikes. Quick service. Dropped off on Thursday and picked up Saturday. I got a new seat and it was raised in height for me to be sitting correctly. Pete adjusted the seat and handlebar so I had good posture and I was comfortable. I also got a new Helmet and they trained me on all the gears. I will be going back and looking forward to building a relationship with the shop and their other patrons. read more

My wife and kids wanted to get me a bike for my birthday and we had been to a few stores already. This store was by far THE BEST. As soon as we walked in, they were courteous and attentive. I told them that I was a novice and was looking for a road bike. The guy showed me a few bikes and explained in detail the difference and then came Steve. This is a triathlete's paradise! They have all of your needs if you are an outdoor fitness enthusiast. Threre's fancy bikes, bike shoes, tools and clips to keep you happy in your ride. They also have gear for runners like shoes, energy gels and what not to keep you properly fueled for those miles. I love Nuun hydration/electrolyte tablets and they have those in just about every flavor. The shoes were a bit pricey and they do not have a huge selection but definitely check out their bike shoes. I hear they also do social runs and training sessions here if that is your thing! The sales guy was super peppy and enthusiastic and got me everything I needed. He seemed to be an athlete himself and tried to answer all of my questions which I truly appreciated! I would definitely return to get a few odds and ends for my next run. read more

I am an average age grouper just chasing another PR. This is my 3rd year competing in triathlons. My training had become a bit stale. I had hit plateaus across the board, that is until I connected with the team at Playtri Colleyville. These guys (and girls) have taken the time to get to know me. Know my story, my history, my goals, my life. They have come along side me in my journey with encouragement, coaching, equipment and resources. These guys go above and beyond. In just the short time I have been with them, I have seen huge gains in all 3 disciplines, as well as in my overall strength. I am not only faster, but stronger. I recently was re-fitted for my tri bike. I have been fitted before, but not like this. They took the time to do a thorough fitting, making sure everything was exact. And OMG!!! It made an immediate impact. I saw my power #'s jump by 20%! That is huge! I went in for a blood lactate test. Same thing. Very thorough. It has now changed the way that I am training. I am designing my training, not around some ambiguous feeling, but by exact #'s that came as a result of the testing (if you have not had your blood lactate #'s tested, it is a MUST). It is awesome! I purchased a pair of running shoes from this store. After wearing them a few day round my house I felt as if they were not the right shoes for me. Drove to the store and was refitted for a different style of shoe that was going to be order in. Long story short is this store never order the shoes. After three weeks I gave up and now I'm just trying to get my money back in the form of a refund. I tried to get the refund over the phone but was told that I needed to come back to the store. Drive back to the store and then was told that all we need is your info and I didn't need to come in after all. Very frustrating. I'll be buying online from now on... cheaper prices and no hassle customer service. This is my experience, maybe your experience w this store will be different, who knows! Playtri Colleyville has everything you need for triathlon or any of the three disciplines. The staff, particularly Aaron, is service oriented. They take the time to assess the level the athlete is at, and will tailor product selection to match, rather than just try to upsell everything. When I purchased my last bike, we tested four different options, with adjustments. It probably took an hour. Never did I feel rushed or pressured. There is a plethora of nutritional needs available, too. Training, group and individual, is available, with some of it free. Free group bike rides on Saturdays are a great way to get outside and to meet others with similar interests. In addition to gear and coaching, there is a full service mechanic on hand. Gilbert does a great job of assessing and addressing problems, with a typically quick turnaround. I mentioned service oriented - here is an example of how great these guys are. I was injured during a race last year, cracking my helmet and dinging up my bike. Playtri gave me a new helmet for free, and Gilbert fixed up my bike at no charge. Admittedly, the bike didn't need much work done, but he didn't have to do it gratis. This is how local business should be! read more

Returning to the road bicycling world after 5 years off the clips, my wife and I had a better-than-novice understanding of the new equipment that bike shops sold...we visited other shops prior to our visit and the first thing other shops wanted is put you in something that was way too much of a bike for us...But at Playtri, that never occurred...from the first minute we arrived, we were treated with respect and dignity from Aaron, the business's coach and salesperson...he listened to our situation and our motivation and he properly fitted us in bikes that were the entry level as well as found ways to outfit us and save money altogether...we were never pressured to purchase anything that was out of our price range or beyond our expertise or what we did not need...Aaron was diligent in setting up our bikes to properly fit us before and after our test ride...when we left with our purchases, we felt that we were treated like kings/queens and we both agree that there is no other bike store in the metroplex quite like Playtri...we would recommend Playtri to anyone without any reservations... read more
