I've been hunting around for a road bike and after a couple other stops around Dallas ended up at Playtri based on their online inventory. Online inventory was a little out of date - they didn't have what I came in to try, and apparently had stopped carrying the line due to quality issues - but they did have a few alternatives and high quality names. They seemed happy to let me try a few frames out back to compare, were knowledgeable but not pushy - bringing out suggestions and letting me figure out what I liked/disliked. They clearly like what they do and are interested in building a community with different events. Would absolutely recommend and will be back as needed.

I really like the knowledge of the salesmen here. I found this place while drinking my pumpkin chai from Scooter's Coffee & Yogurt. I told my Hubby to go check it out because he is the one that is getting into cycling. I won a new bicycle from a fitness challenge at my work so Hubby brought it here along with his own to have them looked over, tuned up. Gilbert, the master mechanic, was vary knowledgable and did a great job on both bikes. Quick service. Dropped off on Thursday and picked up Saturday. I got a new seat and it was raised in height for me to be sitting correctly. Pete adjusted the seat and handlebar so I had good posture and I was comfortable. I also got a new Helmet and they trained me on all the gears. I will be going back and looking forward to building a relationship with the shop and their other patrons.

Steve is a rude and pushy salesman. Sold is a bike that was too small for my wife just to make the sale. Can't trust people these days.

I also really liked how is all the questions we were having with them when they were not 100% sure about something, instead of making it up or pretending, they said effectively, I think the answer is this but let me double check so I don't quote you the wrong battery life or wait on the bike car rack. Also, this location is their 'clearance center' so everything is seemingly on sale and it is huge so they have everything ad have a huge service and maintenance area which I think i probably becoming a bigger and bigger deal as more people are going to pedal assist e-bikes which is what we did. Generally we ride pretty flat areas but if we are riding hills or going a long way the pedal assist ebike is really nice. You don't have to use it but it allows people of different levels to go on rides together and lets you not have to avoid longer or harder rides because you know you can turn on the pedal assist if you want or need to. Lastly, they folks there make sure you know the features of whatever you are buying. It isn't a take it home and go on the internet or dive into the manual, even though you can always do that. They actually walk you through how it works and also say to come back in anytime with questions. Totally a lost art in service that it is cool to see still exists in some places.

This is my go-to REI and I often find myself here on accident with no intentional shopping list!…read more This type of experience has occasionally led to me buying the best gifts due to the ever-present associates that are always waiting (and asking) to help! The staff are outdoor-experienced and knowledgeable and friendly, but if you like shopping without being bothered, you may want to get creative or hide when you see them, because they truly are trying to help! (Yes, the membership is worth it...) The value is great and sales are typically pretty good (in-store and online), but what's really great is the dividend members get at the end of every year (like cash back on purchases), PLUS the really lenient return policy, they know you have to try some of this before you know it's a good item for you - gotta love the co-op! Note: they recently when bagless, apparently except for the holiday season as I saw they had paper bags for those gift-purchasers this weekend. So, in a non-holiday season, if you plan on grabbing a haul (like I do, apparently), you'll want to bring your own bag(s) or plan to take a few trips to the car! (They will hunt down a bag for you if you need it, or they'll help you to your car!)

We were able to hop in line at the cashier, and make our return in less than 5 minutes. This might not seem like a big deal, but this simple transaction during the holiday hustle and bustle is worth shouting out. We had a paper gift receipt for our return, but you can also use a barcode in the REI app if you're a member of the Co-Op for returns. P.S. If you're not a member of the REI Co-Op, it's well worth it to sign up. It's a one-time $30 fee, and the benefits are great, even if you only shop here once or twice a year. (Free standard shipping forever? That alone is worth $30).
