So I've bought 5-6 bicycles from Trek over the last 3 years and never once had a problem. Fast forward to now... I came in the store and ordered a bike from Devon and I had great customer sales interaction. He helped me find my bicycle online, we ordered it and about 2 weeks later I got a phone call to come in and pick up my new bicycle. When I walked in, I was greeted and I told them who I was and what bicycle I ordered. They brought it out front and it had a pretty bad scratch on the rear of the bicycle. (Not something that would go away) I also noticed it had a lot of grease/ hand prints all over it and the grips were not the ones pictured online. Thought no big deal, I'll just clean it when I get home. When I said something about it, the sales associate knew exactly there was a mistake but had to speak with the manager. Well the manger, Patrick comes out and starts finding excuse after excuse not to address something like the bicycle grips, (said, Trek has the right to put whatever parts on they want) sales associate tells him this is not correct and it's one of the selling points of the bike. So Patrick finally caves in and pulls something close enough off the shelf in stock to the Bontrager Satellite IsoZone Plus grips. Still not the same but I'm like whatever at this point, I'm not tryin to be that guy. Honestly I didn't like the fact I had to explain myself on why this wasn't right. But the grips were close enough, so why make a bigger fuss? At this point I'm tryin to be super cool about everything but also kinda taken back at the Trek sales experience. So I take the bike outside and load it into my truck and I notice the paint is chipped where the cable is routed through the frame and it's very sharp and could cut you if you accidentally touched it. I also noticed a lot of marks, scratches all over the bicycle. They also forgot to give me a take home bag, it's this bag with the warranty card and other Trek bicycle care cards and a tune up. So I bring the bike back inside and maintenance guy is more than willing to find solutions to try and fix the bike, unfortunately there is no paint touch up left to match. But the entire time the manger had a poor attitude towards what I felt like was me and to find any solution to fix what was wrong with this bike. So these weren't issues that were something that occurred from shipping, these were issues that were caused by whoever built the bike. Now mind you, not one other bike in the store look like this. None of them had excessive grease or fingerprints all over not to mention deep scratches. Those showroom bicycles were all nice and shiny and squeaky clean so my question is why didn't they just clean the bike after calling me and told me to come pick it up or look it over to see all the flaws? I just had a very poor interaction with their manager and I asked if I could return the bike and could they do anything as far as a little discount if I spent more money on a nicer bicycle and he said no. So I just ended up returning the bike on the spot. At this point I was just done with my new bike experience. Needless to say that all the staff members were wonderful but the manager wasn't the best at customer service. Definitely not the way a customer wants to pick up a brand new bike from a company such the Trek Store. Mind you these are $1000+ bicycles in here. But I'm sure sales are great and who cares about one persons bad experience? What's sad is that, at the time I really wanted another Trek bicycle and I would chalked up half of the stuff wrong with the bike, have I of had better experience picking up a brand new bicycle. read more

I have been a pretty serious road bike enthusiast for the last 15 years or so, and primarily ride the Trek brand. I recently moved nearer the Maxtown location and began doing business with this shop. From the start they made me feel welcome and gave me their time and advice no matter what I was purchasing. From just a pair of wool socks to my new Domane 6, they always had time to answer questions and talk about my passion, cycling. Amy, John and Wes are tremendous associates and if I could remember everyone else's name I would compliment them as well. i highly recommend Trek Westerville!! i took my Trek road e-bike in due to an electrical issue with the bike. Joshua, one of the technicians, pushed hard to get the computer chip that was under warranty, shipped from the manufacture. i had several charity rides before my bike would be ready to ride So they gave me a loaner e-road bike to ride in these events and train with. I decided that my 25 year old Trek 7000 mountain bike was at the end of life. I worked with TREK staff on what a replacement might be best for a 78 year male. We originally decided that a FX 3 would be a good replacement. After riding the FX 3 for a time, I decided that the geometry of that "narrow" tire sit up straight bike did not work well for me. I went back to TREK and they allowed me to switch my selection to a MARLIN 6 mountain bike, a bike geometry that I had been comfortable with. Was in the market for a new bike. Heard trek had some nice stuff going for it and on a bike ran across a trek dealership. Was waiting at the highest end bikes row for 10-15 minutes and the place wasn't very busy or full of customers. Meanwhile the employees were talking in the back amongst themselves. Finally Matt came and asked if I had any questions. I had a time sensitive ride with a group and so I told him I would return for a test ride and questions. When I got back, waited yet again 15-20 minutes until I seen an employee named Denis. He was helping a customer out and said someone would come by promptly to help me out. Waited another 10 minutes with no help. So went back to the service side while watching Denis try and avoid me. Finally asked him for help and he got Robert to helped me out. I had my S-works with me and asked Robert to compare the two and why I should buy trek over specialized. He only mentioned the fork and front wheel and aerodynamics but did not mention geometry, mechanical vs electric, comfort/fit, performance vs relaxed type or anything.. So considering the research I've done beforehand despite the little knowledge the employee had (Denis had a mechanic help me out) I decided to test the ride bike. Took the mechanic about 10 to put my pedals on and fit the seat height. As I was walking out for the test ride, Denis asked Robert for my collateral, as if my 7k bike was not worth enough testing out a 5k bike.. Test ride: The electronic shifting was out of this world. Although it was not adjusted properly. Just as I was feeling the test ride was not a complete mistake..... I got off the saddle to try some sprint shifting and almost went over the bars.. The shifters were not properly tighten up. So as I pulled, they moved very easily. Test ride lasted no more than 10 minutes. No bike is worth braking a body part over. Needless to say, when I got back to the shop. I just wanted to get back in my bike and go home. But unfortunately my pedals were on the trek.. So that meant waiting another 15 minutes. I asked Denis if I could barrow a wrench to do it myself. And he barked at me like a child that I needed supervision using tools. So here I'm watching 4 employees, non of who can take my pedals off for whatever reason off a bike that nearly killed me.. Long story short, Denis is a rude old bitter man who does not know the value of customer service or how to manage two customers at the same time. He lacks great deal of management and personality and needs some training on it. Robert might have been just hired from my experience with him not being able to swap pedals in a way but he was super polite and tried to help me out as much as he was allowed by Denis. He over torqued the seat collar with a torque wrench.. I am not getting a trek and sticking with specialized. A shame this was a bad experience. I wasted my time here. Go else where or don't talk to Denis. read more

I really can't make up my mind on this place. Sometimes the service is great, other times it isn't. The assortment of merchandise isn't so great here that service doesn't matter. But I do love having a bike shop up the street from me. When you can't get a tire back on the rim, you need a tube, etc. it is so great having a place nearby that can help. Here's an example of the "tale of two services." Last summer, I was highly involved in my work-place's Pelotonia effort. I went into my local Trek store to browse but also to ask if they would be willing to donate anything to our Pelotonia-benefiting auction. I never got the chance to ask for anything, out of the 5 employees working, none of them were interesting in speaking to me despite my interest...about anything! Last Sunday, I had a tire that I wanted to change. I wanted to put an old tire on an old bike on my bike trainer. But I just couldn't get that tire changed! I showed up to the Trek store before they even opened, and they let me in, helped me out, and sent me on my way. I don't understand this discrepancy. I don't have any brand loyalty to the Trek brand; I have one Trek bike, but it is hardly my most-frequent ride. I like having a bike shop nearby, but the fact that it is a "Trek-branded" store does nothing for me. Regardless of the brand the shop pushes, I value good service, good prices, and good selection over all else. read more

I love my Trek Mountain Bike. I've had it for years now. It's one of those purchases I made that strapped me financially for a while, because of the high ticket price. Has it paid for itself? Yes, in spades. I have to recommend this brand of bicycle, especially if you're looking for the best in quality and service. The crew at this Trek Store not only know what they're doing, they really enjoy what they're doing. This does not happen often enough in the retail industry. The store is very big, so you can definitely find whatever you need in stock. They are conveniently located between Morse and Rt 161 on North Hamilton Road, so it's easy to find and easy to get to. Track on over to this Trek store, but be ready to spend some coin. If you're a true "Trekky", you'll enjoy the atmosphere and you'll enjoy their bikes even more. read more

Aggressive upsellers, deceitful (I'm being nice there) and not interested in selling parts. I had one bad experience and I let it slide, but recently it took three trips to Trek for my kid to get the (easily available) part he rode two miles to buy. Trek is careless and uninterested in helping people. 1. I took a bike there for repair with a very specific problem. I was sold into buying one of their "package" deals which, I was told would cover the issue with my bike. When I picked up the bike...the desired repair was an "additional charge" above the "package cost" and I ended up paying more for repairs than the bike was worth! I was lied to bold-faced and never consulted on the matter in the meantime. 2. My kid tried to buy a tube but was given the incorrect part even though he showed them the original. When he returned it....they gave him the wrong part AGAIN....so he had to go back a third time. Who is paying attention? Who is interested in helping a kid? Not Trek....they took his money and sent him along for a very frustrating experience. Trek wants you to pay them to fix your bike rather than sell you a part, and it shows. Never again for me. Westerville still lacks a decent bike shop. read more

So this just happened. Yesterday I discussed purchasing a Dual Sport 2 that they had on the floor with an employee at the shop. I needed to discuss the purchase with me wife and make sure I could cancel an order that I had made with a different shop. He suggested I get on-line and reserve the bike for 24 hours - which I did. When I called them this morning (less than 24 hours) to tell them I was purchasing the bike - they sold it yesterday just hours after I left to someone else despite me reserving the bike for 24 hours. Now - I have a cancelled order at the other shop and no bike. BEWARE - their word apparently means nothing. Doesn't say much for the type of people running this shop. read more

Im surprised at some of the negative reviews on here as my experience here was great. That being said, my wife and I are relative novices when it comes to cycling. If I were looking at getting a $5k-$7k road bike, im sure I would have different questions for the staff here. This place is definitely not the cheapest but the quality is just so high. The experience: This all started when I decided to get my wife a new bike for her bday. We did A LOT of shopping around locally at large stores (REI, Dicks, etc) and small, local shops (BikeSource, Once Ridden, etc) and Trek was by far the best place we went. Chloe was the rep who helped us and was fantastic! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the different models that would fit her lifestyle. She test-rode an FX and fell in love. There were a bunch of FX models ranging in price from ~$370 all the way to well over $1000. Chloe was super helpful in telling us the differences in the models and what components a novice rider like my wife would really need. In the end we settled on the FX 7.2. It was such a great experience that I actually got one as well! Update: I bought ergo grips after the fact and took them home convinced I could install them on my own. Im also cheap so I was trying to avoid the $10 install charge. After realizing I didnt have the right size allen key I had to take it back and have them install them after all. The manager on duty was SUPER nice and did it free of charge. We will be Trek customers for years to come! read more

This was my first visit to this bike shop. The space is fantastic! Big, room to move around, great use of space. John, he must be a seasoned Trek worker was very nice. Since I'm relatively new to the pedal biking world, I still don't know correct terminology. He explained what could be the cause of my squeaking. He also noticed by chain was in need of lubing. He explained the process, while showing me, so I then knew the steps. I could most definitely tell the difference in the smoother churning of the pedals. They were able to assemble but first told me it could be up to 5 days. The gentleman helping me could see the disappointment in my eyes. Rude, just RUDE! An out of town friend and I went in to find a simple accessory for her Electra Townie. We looked around, waited for the one employee to get off of his cell phone, while not even acknowledging us. When he finally got off the phone, he (reluctantly) came over to talk to us. When she mentioned her Electra Townie, he honestly almost sneered, and said, "sorry, we mainly deal only with Treks" and walked off. I brought my Specialized bike in several times for repairs or adjustments. I am really surprised by the accommodating attitude of the sales and service folks. I expected to get a dirty look and rejection but was treated like my bike was a Trek. Service has always been done correctly and on time for a reasonable cost. I recently shopped for bikes for my grandsons. John was very helpful and informative. Unfortunately, the bikes that matched the boys needs were on backorder. Not a surprise when bike shopping the first week of bike riding weather. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality bike. read more

A great store with great personnel and great customer service. Each time I've walk in, I've been warmly greeted and helped almost immediately. When I bought shoes, I was properly fitted and shown several alternative ways to lace and tie the shoestrings. I ordered bike shorts and had them within a week. I had a flat tire fixed within 30 minutes. Most amazing to me and proof that this is an outstanding company occurred when I bought an electric bike. I rode it for 80 miles and discovered it was not the type of biking I wanted to do. I was given a full refund for the bike and all the added accessories. I appreciate the staff especially Jon who make me feel like a wanted customer and friend. I don't know of any other store where I am greeted by name and where I know the employees' names. I can attest they are well stocked with clothing and accessories. The service department is knowledgeable and friendly. What an awful experience! I had experienced a blow out by running over a nail that totally destroyed my tire. I limped along to the closest bike store which was this Trek store in Westerville. I was happy to be there due to the circumstances. While there the sales person proceeded to tell me all the things wrong with my bike and said it was urgent I get them repaired. I didn't take his advice stating that for now I just need a new tire and get back to my ride. After paying $130 for a new tire and tube I felt trapped as I was in no place to negotiate. I took my bike in to another bike repair shop to have it inspected and for a tune up. When they didn't express any issues I began explaining the urgent repair situation as was voiced to me at Trek Westerville. They did not agree. How sad to take advantage of someone in distress. While I didn't totally fall for it, I would not recommend this establishment. read more

A bunch of my friends have recently gotten into biking, and so I decided to jump on that train! I am pretty accident proned so I decided to bring in my bike to Trek for them to check over before I did any riding (it's been a while since my bike has seen the light of day). All I have to say is that this store was absolutely fantastic! As soon as I walked through the doors I was greeted with a smile, and John was quick to help me out! Being new to cycling, there is a lot that I have to learn, and I never felt belittled by any of the employees, and they were very patient in answering my questions. The service manager, Michael, looked at my bike and took the time to fully explain to me what needs to happen with my bike so that I have the safest and funnest ride possible. When I came back a few days later to pick up my bike, the bike looked brand new! I rode it around in the parking lot in the back and it felt great. The employees also made sure that my bike fit me properly and sized me to the bike. They also showed me a few things that would be helpful on my rides like lights, bottle cages, flat pack, and even a new saddle that is designed for women. And I have to say that each of those things have been a HUGE help during my rides! And the saddle is AMAZING!! I have never felt this comfortable on a bike ever!! Great experience! I felt cared for and they went above and beyond to make sure that my riding experience is the best I can have! I will definitely be returning for more gear and service in the future! read more

I've been very pleased with both my experiences at the Trek Bicycle Store on Maxtown Rd in Westerville. The employees are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I had a couple minor repairs needed on two different bikes and they were eager to help, got the job done in a very short time while I waited, and the price was right. No charge at all on my last visit when my bike just needed some adjustments. I have been in to this shop about three times in the past year and have always been very happy with their service. I have a carbon road bike and a mid-level mountain bike with disc brakes and have had both of them in for work. Their prices might be just a little bit more than average, but the work has always been exceptional. On one stop in the store to just look around I asked Dennis in the service area about some adjustments I was wanting to make on my bikes and he was extremely helpful. I saw where another reviewer was very unimpressed with his single experience at the shop, but I think both he and the store personnel must have been having a bad day because they have always been helpful and nothing but friendly with me (especially Dennis). I will continue to use the Westerville store as it is convenient for me even though there are other shops I could also go to just as easily. I have a Trek road bike and another brand of TT bike. I am always greeted when I walk into the store and directed to what I need. All the guys and gals are helpful and very nice to deal with. They have installed race wheels, replaced my chain, calibrated the gears many many times, re-taped the handle bars, installed the cleats on my shoes (waived the $10 charge both times) and done other maintenance on my bikes. No matter how many times I bring it back, many times they will tweak the gearing and install something without charge. I have nothing but a positive experience each time I step into the store. read more

Great experience here. Ran into / dealt with several different employees on my latest round of visits to this location....All pleasant and easy to deal with. Went in looking for specialized tools for my Specialized brand bike. They had the tools but the labor was less than the tools, so went ahead and had them repair my crank and true my rim. These guys were happy to work on my not Trek brand bike; which, I bet some folks wouldn't realise. Very happy with the price, service, and the speed. This is a much better experience than what I used to get at the Westerville Bike Source location.
