Very romantic feeling. Great for a date night. The food is excellent. Authentic, fresh, delicious. The service is 7/10. Which I don't entirely hold against them. It can get very crowded and busy. But sometimes you're left needing a drink refill for a while. We have been coming here for several years for our special occasions. Admittedly we have had one bad food experience. But it was Valentine's Day a couple years back, which is notoriously a bad day to eat out anyway. They have redeemed themselves since. I would just advise to not go on a holiday, for the demand of the crowd and limited staff may be why the quality in food dipped that evening. Had a 7pm reservation and arrived early at 6:55, checked in with the hostess, and then the wait began. By 7:20 we still hadn't been seated, even though 2-3 parties who arrived after us got tables first. The hostesses seemed overwhelmed when I asked about it. The manager, Nickola, was great under pressure though -- he offered our party the lounge to wait in and brought over some Prosecco (I don't drink due being allergic to alcohol, but I took a few sips just to take the edge off). At one point he pointed out a table clearing behind the lounge and said it would be ours shortly, so we watched it get bussed... only to see another party seated there instead. You could see the stress on his face as he and the hostesses tried to sort it out. We finally got seated at a different table at 7:40, 40 minutes after our reservation time. I get being busy, but an improvement on their process and have everyone from hostesses to managers communicate who is being seated where and what can be done to streamline their seating process would be a huge plus. As a first-timer who'd been looking forward to this, that start really changed my excited to experience this place to sadly disappointed. One-star on the reservation and wait. Once we were seated, though, things turned around. We started with the calamari and meatballs since we were starving, then split the Roma pizza, Chicken Piccata, Orecchiette Alle Cime Di Rapa, and Paccheri Pistacchio. Everything was excellent. Our server and the rest of the staff were attentive and warm the entire meal. The owner, Marco Palazzo, even stopped by our table, asked how everything was, chatted with us about water polo, and thanked us for coming in -- it was a nice touch. Our server also sent over complimentary limoncello to close out the meal. Four-stars on the food. So, mixed feelings: the wait and the mix-up with our table were frustrating, especially for a first visit. But the food was great, the service once seated was wonderful, and the gestures from both the manager and owner to make it right didn't go unnoticed. The pizza was so floppy, moist in the center that all the toppings slid off into a big pile when I lifted a slice. I understand the Neopolitan style pizza is meant to be crispy on the edges and soft in the middle, but this pizza was so difficult to eat and was too moist/wet in the middle. The girl bartender and her young assistant were great . Then we ordered an appetizer, the arancini verde which are breaded and fried spinach risotto balls with mozzarella and a delicious sauce. Then for our entree we ordered the Reggio Calabrian pizza - which has calabrese salami , Italian sausage, Mija spread and mushrooms. This pizza was amazing from the sauce to the dough!!!!We also ordered parpadelle al brasato which is braised short rib rags, parmigiano and bread crumbs. We have had our share of short rib parpadelle from other restaurants and this one was the best by far! The sauce is so different and so delicious. Came for dinner and drinks the other night and had a wonderful time. This spot is located a bit removed from the craziness of Costa Mesa/Newport, in a little plaza with valet parking. Most of the seating is outdoors, with plenty of heat lamps. There's also a lounge you can eat at, or grab drinks at. They take reservations for both areas which is much appreciated. The restaurant and lounge both have a great vibe, especially during the holidays with the extra lighting. Service across the board was excellent, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, and things moved quickly. On the food front, we got the Caesar, Bologna pizza, and Cacio e Pepe (which was a special). The Caesar was fantastic, probably one of my favorite Caesar salads in recent memory, and best in OC. The Bologna pizza was good, I think I wasn't a fan of the salami used but otherwise an excellent pizza. The Cacio e Pepe was also quite good, definitely one of the best ones I've had in OC (my wife thought it could use a bit more Parmesan, but I really liked it as-is). We closed out our meal with the chocolate cake, which was also delicious. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. What a fantastic spot! In February on my trip home my friends booked a dinner for us at Trenta. We walked over and had a wonderful dinner! The owner came over to check how everything was going with genuine care. It was my first visit here and the server explained the menu and offered some fantastic suggestions. Then we did the trenta trio pizza - we learned trenta which means 30 refers to the 30" pizza.. I couldn't remember the flavors we got, I think one was the Torino, caserta and amalfi. We also ordered 3 pastas.. the pistachio paccheri, orecchiette, and papperdelle. All great selections ! And yes this was only for 4 people. Parking: You can't park your car and must go through valet unless you find parking which is about half a mile away in my experience. Valet is about $8 but with tip it's about $15. There are no other options based on city regulations. Service: We waited 20 minutes past our reservation time. I think that usually when someone makes a reservation they're seating within a few minutes. Staff were friendly but some seemed overwhelmed and busy. I don't blame the staff it was a Friday night.
