We were there on the night that guitarist & vocalist, Toty Viola was performing so that was a major plus! The calamari is huge and delightfully crunchy! The patio has a garden-like feel. It makes you forget that you are just by the parking lot and the main road. Service is exceptional. I would've never known this place was here, had my friend not told me about it. There's lots of outdoor seating and some indoor by the pizza oven. Such a fun way of serving pizza. I love how thin their crust is and the simplicity of flavors. The Firenze is a favorite, I mean, you can't go wrong with mozarella, poricini, and truffle. The rustic bread and dip was also really good with just a little spice and made the perfect starter. For dinner, we had the prosciutto, pepperoni, and mushroom pizza, which was absolutely delicious with the perfect amount of spice. The pappardelle short rib pasta was also excellent. My mother-in-law ordered the special eggplant pasta, but they accidentally brought a meat pasta instead. Our server apologized right away, reordered the correct dish, and had it out within about eight minutes. He was also kind enough to box up the wrong pasta for us, which we appreciated. What a fantastic spot! In February on my trip home my friends booked a dinner for us at Trenta. We walked over and had a wonderful dinner! The owner came over to check how everything was going with genuine care. It was my first visit here and the server explained the menu and offered some fantastic suggestions. My favorites were the Tiramisu martini and the fried risotto appetizer. We tried the paccheri pistachio pasta and the spicy reggio calabria pizza, but those were both pretty underwhelming for me - tasted like typical pesto pasta and meat lovers pizza. Bread, Burratta, and calamari appetizers were excellent, the calamari special way light and flavorful, not the classic greasy version you get sometimes. I had the carbonara which was done i the classic style without cream, it was great aI would gladly order it again, especially on one of those classic June gloom nights. Came for dinner and drinks the other night and had a wonderful time. This spot is located a bit removed from the craziness of Costa Mesa/Newport, in a little plaza with valet parking. Most of the seating is outdoors, with plenty of heat lamps. There's also a lounge you can eat at, or grab drinks at. They take reservations for both areas which is much appreciated. The restaurant and lounge both have a great vibe, especially during the holidays with the extra lighting. Service across the board was excellent, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, and things moved quickly. On the food front, we got the Caesar, Bologna pizza, and Cacio e Pepe (which was a special). The Caesar was fantastic, probably one of my favorite Caesar salads in recent memory, and best in OC. The Bologna pizza was good, I think I wasn't a fan of the salami used but otherwise an excellent pizza. The Cacio e Pepe was also quite good, definitely one of the best ones I've had in OC (my wife thought it could use a bit more Parmesan, but I really liked it as-is). We closed out our meal with the chocolate cake, which was also delicious. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. Parking: You can't park your car and must go through valet unless you find parking which is about half a mile away in my experience. Valet is about $8 but with tip it's about $15. There are no other options based on city regulations. Service: We waited 20 minutes past our reservation time. I asked a few times and kept being told just a few more minutes but that ended up being much longer than I expected. I think that usually when someone makes a reservation they're seating within a few minutes. Staff were friendly but some seemed overwhelmed and busy. I don't blame the staff it was a Friday night. My order got mixed up two times. I ended up with the wrong drink. Food: If you don't mind everything else this is the best part. The food was great! Solid food. Then we did the trenta trio pizza - we learned trenta which means 30 refers to the 30" pizza.. I couldn't remember the flavors we got, I think one was the Torino, caserta and amalfi. We also ordered 3 pastas.. the pistachio paccheri, orecchiette, and papperdelle. All great selections ! And yes this was only for 4 people. Romantic ambiance with indoor/outdoor seating and heated lamps for colder nights. And ladies: their tables have bag hooks underneath! The restaurant itself is busy with lots of reservations and coordinating tables, etc. so having a large team of people who were consistently being proactive, checking in and being helpful went a long way. Once you enter the restaurant, it's a cozy environment with a beautiful outdoor floral patio and in the back there are two small sections for indoor seating one is where the bar/lounge is and on the other side is a more quiet environment. The food was fresh and we enjoyed the pizza! We ordered the amalfi which consisted of mozzarella, nduja, Italian sausage, prosciutto cotto, parmigiano and rosemary. All the pizza looked amazing that I don't think you can go wrong! They also have a chili oil that gives a bit of a spice. There are GF and vegan options.
