First time trying out this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is small but cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is fun and different.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cocktails are made fresh and delicious. I was impressed with how the bar tender remembered my name and knew what I ordered. Service was fast and easy. The only downside is the cell service inside. I have ATT so not sure if it's my provider or the building.

I had the pear martini which was delicious!!!
Not a very good experience at this bar the past Saturday evening. Maybe just come here for the themed atmosphere or wine and beer, the cocktails are bad. We had a bottle of champagne last time so I didn't know how bad a dirty martini would be! They charged $24 for a dirty martini that was basically thin iced water with very little vodka and not dirty at all! Hard pass forever!
Cowboys and Poodles was our first stop on a bar hopping Wednesday night. We were wondering why the front door wouldn't budge when a wooden panel at eye-level suddenly slid open with a bang! The bouncer checked our ID's and let us inside. "Oh, it's a speakeasy," we chatted among ourselves. I thought it was just gonna be a regular bar. I also thought that speakeasies were supposed to be hidden. The inside of the speakeasy was very Western themed and decorated. The bar was placed right in the center of the room, covered by what seemed to be the hood of a covered wagon. To the left, an old-timey carriage. To the left, a confession booth bathed in sinful red light. You can sit in either of these props, or saddle up on a horse's behind next to the bar. On this particular Wednesday night, there was a very nice man offering free spirit samples in the back corner of the bar. His name was Michael, and let us try several of the spirits from his brand, Tin City Distillery. I really liked the Fig Brandy and Chocolate Vodka, which he said won double gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The bartenders were very nice and efficient. I had the Cowboy Blues, which was a Paper Plane inspired cocktail with blueberry. The drink was well rounded, having the depth from the bourbon, but still light and refreshing from the blueberry and lemon. My favorite drink of the night, however, was the Sundance Kid, which was very light and easy to drink. I had a great time at Cowboys and Poodles, but a minor incident with other guests did affect my night when I went to use the restroom. The restrooms are gender-neutral and single-occupancy. When I tried the door, it was locked, so I stepped aside and waited. A moment later, a woman briefly opened the door, saw me, glared, and shut it again. "Odd," I thought as I continued to wait. My friend later walked over to ask if it was still occupied. When he gently checked the handle -- which was still locked -- the same woman opened the door again, glared at us, and said, "Can you guys chill? There are women in here," before leaving with her friend. It became clear that two people had been using the single-use restroom together for quite some time.I don't believe the restroom was being used for its intended purpose, and in a bar where many guests will naturally need to use the facilities, long waits caused by misuse can be frustrating. I also felt unfairly antagonized despite behaving exactly as any waiting guest would. While I understand the bar cannot control every guest's behavior, this experience did highlight how easily the restrooms can become bottlenecked -- especially since there is no indicator on the doors showing when they are occupied. It may be helpful for the business to keep an eye on restroom usage, or consider adding an occupied/vacant indicator, to ensure all guests can access the facilities at a reasonable pace. For context, the second restroom was also in use, though by a single person who did not react negatively when someone checked the handle -- which is understandable given that there is no way to tell from the outside whether the restroom is occupied. Overall, I had a great time at Cowboys and Poodles. I really liked the free spirit sampling. I thought the decor was really cool. And I thought the drinks were yummy. I hope to have a better experience on my next visit.
Stumbled upon this speak easy after going to AhbA for girls night out. So glad we did! What a cute place. Checked ids in the front, and gave us a rundown of what to expect. Tattoos being offered on one corner. Very talented, sweet, kind bartenders! Had the best drink of my life -- "Andian Soul" it was a drink w gin, spicy & sweet. Came at the right place/time for the best tattoo artist who gave a few of us new ink! First time and definitely will be back.
Cowboys and Poodles is a Speakeasy that's western themed. The themed exterior with ambiguous information immediately peaked my attention. There is a QR code that gives more information about the place. It wasn't clear how to get in, so I used the door knocker. A staff member inside will open the window and ask for ID's (it's a 21+ type of place). Once verified, I got to step inside. Luckily, they were okay with me just checking the place out to feed my curiosity. The interior is smaller than I expected. It's heavily decorated to fit a pristine western look. There was even an entire carriage that serves as table seating. The walls are adorned with vintage art/images + cowboy imagery, and the inside was pretty dark in general. Overall, I think this is a unique speakeasy to check out and to hang out with friends in smaller parties.
Cute speakeasy with a western theme, and poodles! You can easily find the place, there's a big horse on top of the building. It has a functional disco ball, with a dj spinning some music. They played a range of music, from 80s to Backstreet Boys. There's QR codes to scan for the menu. The cocktails are great! Though the place had a strong mix of smells including sage, smokiness, or some type of apothecary spice. Great place to pregame or grab some drinks after dinner!

Tucked away in Costa Mesa, this hidden gem perfectly blends playful charm with an incredible atmosphere. I went to Cowboys & Poodles on a Wednesday evening with a friend. I had heard so much about this speakeasy for at least a year now, so I was very excited to finally pay it a visit. There was no parking lot or structure by the building, so my friend & I just parked in a lot that was only a couple minutes of walking away. The lady who let us in was friendly & guided us inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We loved interior decor & enjoyed looking through all the details.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We both ordered the golden hour cocktail & enjoyed it very much! We would love to come again, especially to attend one of their liquor education series.

My friend and I wanted to go to a speakeasy for a fun Friday night out. We were looking for one that doesn't require reservation, since it was a spontaneous thing for us. We stumbled upon Cowboys and Poodles through TikTok recommendation and decided to visit! Needless to say, Cowboys and Poodles was such a vibe and we had such an awesome experience! There was a small line when we got there around 10PMish, but the line move fairly quickly! You will be taken through a little hall way with illustrations of people and poodles wearing cowboy hats, which was super cool! The bar itself is pretty small, but very cozy! For the size, there was quite a lot of people inside. I LOVE THE DECORATIONS AND THE VIBE SO MUCH! The giant cowboy hat chandelier thing, the carriage, the disco ball: everything was such a vibe! The music they were playing was SO GOOD!! Bangers after bangers!! Too bad there wasn't a dance floor! Drinks are pretty good! The price was your average cocktail price, ranging from $16-$20 for crafted cocktail! I ordered a Cowboy Blues, which was tart and fruity with the blueberry and bourbon as the alcohol. It was good and not too heavy! Def would come back to try other drinks, as they seem to have very cool drinks!!
Pretty cool speak easy bar with a funky barn eclectic western that is intimate and fits about 20-25 ppl max probably. We sat at the bar area and all ordered a round. Drinks were around $20/cocktail, with lots of ingredients I don't quite remember but it was decent. Fun little spot to pregame at or even try out before dinner reservation at Folks.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The speakeasy was super cute and has fun spaces for you to enjoy your drink like a confession booth or a carriage![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were so many things to see in there and each little nook and cranny had its own personality and character.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were great too! Everything that we had were full of flavor and strength. My favorite drink was the hibiscus vodka cocktail. Bar tenders were awesome and personable too. They also had intriguing mocktails too, friendly for those who don't drink. Will need to come back here whenever I'm in the area! read more

Obsessed with Cowboys and Poodles!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a vibe! Great drinks, great music, great times![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]After a Korean bbq dinner I was up for a speakeasy with vibes and this place set the bar high.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking can be tricky but it's free! After a firm but respectful knock on the door we were greeted and let in and were provided the rules or lay off the land. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the cowboy disco themed bar with rnb/pop vibes at the Dj booth![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks are $20 roughly each but are made extremely well and strong! Loved every bit of it and I'm so glad we decided to come! Can't wait to come back! read more

It's a speakeasy so you knock on the door and someone lets you in. The interior was smaller than I expected, but it's well-decorated with a Western theme. When we first walked in, there was a strong smoky scent that caught us off guard, but I later realized it was from the sage they burn on top of some drinks. I personally didn't enjoy the burning sage; the smell wasn't for me, and since the space is small, it felt a bit overwhelming. I ordered the Beeting Heart, which was really good. The other drink we tried (the one with the sage) wasn't bad either. The drinks we ordered were on the sweeter side which i enjoyed and the servers were nice and attentive. read more
Cutest vibe, hands down. From the moment you walk in, it feels intentional - the decor, the seating, the energy. Plenty of space to sit, talk, and actually enjoy your drink without being packed in a corner. I ordered a custom Shirley Temple situation from the bartender and it was surprisingly good - not too sweet, not watered down, just right. And yes, there's a dog casually hanging out like he owns the place. Love! This is the type of spot that gets it. I'd come back in a heartbeat. Perfect for drinks, conversation, and catching a vibe without trying too hard. It's right near BoothByBryant if you're into photo opps, which you will be. Also there's restaurants and parking surrounding it, so that's a plus!!! read more

Cowboys & Poodles is a small little western glam speakeasy, the bar is a covered wagon, there are little nooks to sit in around the bar and a full sized carriage you can have drinks in as well. It is really crowded and hard to get a beverage and there isn't table service. Our cocktails were decent but the draw is more the vibe and atmosphere of the bar. We were glad we stopped in and had a drink but too crowded to be able to hang for another. read more
Hidden in an unassuming parking lot by the camp area in Costa Mesa is this fun little spot. I got the Pandamonium (DENIZEN 8Yr Rum, Avua PRATA, PANDAN, COCONUT, LIME) and the Sweetheart of the Rodeo (UNCLE VAL'S GIN, STRAWBERRY, THYME, RABARABARO, LEMON). Both are delicious but the first really stood out to me! If you want the coolest seats like the carriage or the confessional, get there early. Otherwise any seat at this saloon is worth its weight in gold. There are so many fun little seats you can choose from inside which really adds to the ambience depending on which you one you choose. We ended up at the bar and didn't mind at all. Our bartender Mo was friendly, helpful, and quick. I know a lot of people give themed places like this a hard time because of service but I'm happy to report they don't slack off around these parts. Overall, would definitely return! read more
MUSICAL CHAIRS. If you get lucky to get a seat I don't see why you wouldn't have a good time in here. This place is tiny. It's a counter and few chairs. But it's got a good vibe and awesome staff. The entrance is dope and really does make you feel transported elsewhere. Came in around 8:30 pm and it filled up like crazy at 9:30. There's a 1/8 chair ratio. Thomas was awesome. He kept throwing the shakers and flipping his drinks. You go! read more

The speakeasy with the cutest name and decor. You can count on Cowboys and Poodles to give you what a good speakeasy should be known for; secrecy, good vibes, good music, and great drinks ! It can get rowdy and full very quickly, so be patient with your bartender and make sure to tip. Make sure to knock on the right door the right amount of times, and enjoy a lively night of fun with friends. read more

Cowboys and poodles is a super fun themed bar because the decor combines the two concepts so well. Visited on a Wednesday night and it was PACKED. Pretty much felt like a can of sardines mostly because the space is very small. There were virtually no seats available so people do get pushy when a party leaves to try and snag a spot. They also had live music performing country classics which was nice for the vibes but not so nice for the conversations. My group and I definitely had to yell to talk to each other. Ordering was pretty difficult because they have seating all around the bar which makes it hard to pop in and place an order. It took us around 30 minutes to even get to the bar to place our orders. The drinks were just okay. They had a good balance between alcohol and other ingredients but nothing impressed me and the drink wasn't crazy tasty. They have 2 bathrooms and I was actually very surprised at how clean they were. Parking was easy when we came at 10pm but I've been to the brewery next door at 6pm and it was virtually impossible to find a parking space in the small lot. Overall I think Cowboys and Poodles is great to experience once because of the theme and decor. But I probably wouldn't come back because it was more work for what it was worth. read more

Cowboys and Poodles is a fun speakeasy that draws you in as soon as you walk through the door. The ambiance is unique and sets the mood without trying too hard. The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome right away. The live music adds a nice touch and brings the room to life without being too loud. Whether you're out with friends or looking for a relaxed place to enjoy a drink, Cowboys and Poodles is an easy choice. I'd happily recommend it. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a small space so be aware if you go in expecting to dance, but it was sooo lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We only stayed for one drink & I will say although the drink was good it was pretty pricey for a small portion but I do understand that they are crafted cocktails. The service was quick & we were able to get a seat at the bar as well. Cowboys and Poodles is located in the Camp in Costa Mesa. Its a really cute speakeasy but small and BUSY! I do recommend if coming on the weekend to come before 8pm as the wait time is minimal and you have a better chance ordering a drink as its not as packed. Keep in mind they only have one bar so after 8pm your battling it out for the bartenders attention and there will most likely be a line upon entering. However, the girl at the door was so kind and really made a great impression. Drinks are $18 and up and no food is served. They do have a pretty good dj on the weekends so it makes a good time! It's an amazing speakeasy with a country theme. It's always fun going there and drinks are top notch. No food so make sure you feed your tummy before you visit them as you would love to get more than 1 drink ;) really nice crafted cocktails. Mixologists / Bartenders rock. read more

This spot is a true speakeasy with a hidden entrance (tattoos, anyone?). Once inside, the vibe is both playful & immersive. The walls feature large digital screens looping cinematic scenes that make you feel transported..at one moment, you're standing in a rain-soaked Wild West town with carriages rolling by, the next you're peeking into moody, surreal landscapes. Unique seating adds to the experience: we were cozy in the confessional box (perfect for 2), while another group fit comfortably in the carriage (seating 4). A disco ball throws playful reflections across the space, layering modern nightlife energy over the speakeasy's quirky, vintage feel. The bartenders were attentive & fun, & during our visit there was even a tattoo pop-up happening inside..complete with someone getting inked while sipping cocktails. It's eclectic, memorable, & one-of-a-kind. We will definitely be back! read more

Can people bring food in?
Technically yes, but you'd be the only person eating and there aren't any tables to eat off of. If you can get a seat at the bar I would eat there but other areas are not setup for tables (with one exception).
What if I brought my poodle? Then is it dog friendly?
The place is a speakeasy so I would not bring your poodle. Your dog would likely get trampled or stepped on as the place is always packed with a lot of people and it is very loud. The brewery next door allows dogs, try them.
