The refried beans and rice were standard and good, but the chicken (in my tacos), had no flavor. I really needed to use the salsa (that came with the chips) to make it taste good. Not our go to Mexican place but a very close second for us. I come here with family and friends often, I'm here at least once a month for margaritas . It's a more high end Mexican food place in my honest option, it's a very authentic restaurant in decor, food and drinks. They're known for their margaritas hella strong lol but very tasty. They always have very generous portions and the food is really really good. I love the warm chips and in house salsa they serve there and it's refillable. The taco salad is a very very generous portion and can be 2 meals. My go to is the chili rellenos meal comes with rice, choice of beans and soup or salad. Combo plate is another nice go to where you get to pick 2 dinner items, rice, choice of beans and soup or salad if you can't make up your mind, it gives you a really nice choice of best of both worlds. The severs there are super friendly and very attentive to your needs. Always happy to come back here cause the margaritas will get you tipsy. read more

Salad was refreshing. Creamy cilantro is on point. Ordered the fajita carnitas and it was okay. Meat was a little dry, but everything else was good. Doesn't come out on a hot plate like I usually see it served. Service was great but it took awhile to replenish water at some points. It was understandable because the girl was kind of working alone. We split our plates and got charged for it. They also charged us for chips and dip refills. If they had told us we could have split our food ourselves. Awful serving attitude. I just got off from a 12-hour flight and just wanted some Brito to-go. I entered the restaurant , and after a couple of minutes, the waitress asked me, " how can I help you?" (I mean, I am here for dinner, you don't even ask if I want for here or to-go...?) I said I'd like a beef Brito to-go. Then she got confused and asked around, then came back to me and said, "did you already get it? Have you called already to order or are you just here to order?" (??? I didn't even want to explain to her anymore, and decided to leave and mumbled "never mind") Then the male own behind the waitress said, "what's your problem?" in an angry tone as if I was insane or being hated. For $385 I could have taken my tia and the rest of the family to a taco truck and ordered 259 tacos and had a better experience. From the moment we got there it went down hill. The hostess couldn't locate our dinner reservation, luckily some of our party had already arrived so we left to go sit at the table. Our server Rogelio was rude. For most of the night he pretended that we weren't there and when we tried to get his attention he kept saying," 5 seconds" well that five seconds turned into thirty minutes before he even took our order. He skipped over two people and said that he would come back. He did, only after we had the hostess and a busboy go and locate him. When we ordered drinks for the kids they charged us $2.50 for a can soda. My cousin asked about their drink specials for happy hour, Rogelio rudely flipped open the menu and took his finger to make a circle around the drinks and then walked away. This place is not an authentic Mexican restaurant. There was no seasoning or spice the food was so bland. You could tell that even the chef didn't think that the food was good, because everything was smothered in sauce to cover the blandness. I really don't understand how they have such high reviews, unless the people that are going here never had true Mexican food. The only thing that made my family happy to eat were the cupcakes that we brought to the bday dinner. When Rogelio delivered the bill he made a long speech about how he can't separate the bill and that we have to go through the bill and separate it ourselves and that he can only take 5 credit cards for the payments. No problem. But seeing that the gratuity was $50+ for a horrible service and experience. It was a hard pill to swallow. Honestly avoid this place and just go to Chevys or Taco Bell if you're looking for "Mexican" food similar to this place. read more

I've been a fan for years. Lately though, like a lot of places ,the quality has gone down hill. Tasteless enchilada the other night, nothing but salt and hot sauce. That covers up a lot a guess for those who don't know. I can take an occassional bad enchilada, but what I really can't tolerate is a so-called Cadillac Margarita that is simply a Pinto Margarita. Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. I know a Cadillac Margarita. This was not one. No salt on the rim. The waitress swore it had a Grand Marnier float. No way. It was 95% syrup, and 5% Tequila, for $12!!!!!!! IF I ever go again, I will bring a flask of Grand Marnier so I can make it real. You should not be ripping off your faithful customers! We just wanted some Mexican food and found Tres Hermanas on yelp and found this nice restaurant that's really festively decorated with piñatas and dancing skeletons painted inside! It's a sit- down place and every main dish is around $12 and up, but they also include rich, beans, and a salad or soup with your dish, and the portions are big!! They give free chips and salsa! I got the Dos Soft Tacos for $12.99 with the chicken. It took a while for the food to come out even though it wasn't crowded. The tacos came with A LOT of filling so it was like 4 tacos instead of 2, and the seasoned rice tasted great! I really enjoyed the salsa and tacos! It was a nice place to check out, but more so if you're willing to spend some money and want a sit down restaurant. read more

Our team comes here for Happy Hour often, and we have never had an issue. We love their little patio area - it's somehow in the exact place where it's just shaded enough and not too windy. Their chips and salsa are the exact amount of bottomless that I need in my life - we have never ran out. I went yesterday for a farewell happy hour for our boss, and we received amazing service - we never worried that our drinks would be empty too long. We've previously had appetizers here, and they were good. The reason I dock one star is because their food isn't amazing, and it's more expensive than the other Mexican restaurants in town. I've only ever had taco salads here, so perhaps I am biased, but I would say that if you're vegetarian, you're better off going somewhere else. But oh, those margaritas... 4 stars. Ben and another gentleman were chill , nice , and informative. My food survived the train and bus ride back to midtown sac. My Food came how I wanted it. Did you know they have lentil soup on Monday's and Tuesday's only ?? It's delicious. Again , bartender suggested it. I got a vegan meal that's going to carry over well into tomorrow. Delicious for Breakfast! I came here recently for breakfast/brunch around 11am and ordered the Carnitas Con Huevos. YUM YUM YUM! I have been to the other Tres Hermanas location in Sacramento, so I knew they had awesome Carnitas. Add eggs (I had mine made over easy), beans, and tortillas and you've got an awesome breakfast. Plus, the chips and salsa are delicious, the service was excellent, and it wasn't too busy this early on a Saturday morning. I highly recommend Tres Hermanas, especially for carnitas. Let's first talk about the good things at Tres Hermanas. Lots of outdoor seating. Very good salsa and the chips kept coming. Very festive decor. The vegan and vegetarian food was good, but nothing to write home about. The things that were not good was my meatball soup was served lukewarm and I like my soup hot. It did have a good flavor and lots of veggies. My vegan daughter ordered a salad with Italian dressing and was served a salad dressed with a creamy cilantro. She was afraid not to eat the salad or to ask the server for a new one because he seemed a little short with us when we ordered. I asked the hostess for the correct salad after my daughter started to eat the salad out of fear of what might happen if she didn't eat it. Our server did warm up to us as the night went on though. The lime margarita mix tasted like it had been on the shelf too long and the mango margarita tasted like it came from a powdered mix and did not taste good. Would I eat there again? Yes. Next time I would skip the margaritas and just get a shot of tequila instead. read more

Great service, food, drinks & ambiance. We sat on the patio which has a lot of seating. I got the dinner combo, crunchy chicken taco & pork tamale, came with rice, beans & soup or salad. The chicken was seasoned & moist. The crunchy taco was delicious and the pork tamale wasn't dry at all, had a good flavor. My friend got the Cadillac margarita (only comes on the rocks), it was 10.00 and really alcoholic tasting. I just had a Corona with lime. We came here after my wife's plan A turned into plan B when her restaurant choice was unexpectedly closed. Parking can be a little bit of a hassle in downtown Davis. We were sat rather quickly in the fairly packed restaurant. The decor is nice and is visually appealing. It looks authentic and reminded my wife of the movie Coco. We were greeted several minutes later and our drink orders were taken. Chips and salsa were then brought out. Chips were great but the salsa was spicy and lacked character. We ordered guacamole and it was strangely tart. My daughter had nachos and they didn't look great and she loves nachos. My wife had the chile relleno and enjoyed it. She didn't care for the rice and beans. Neither did I. I found the beans to be dry and crusty and the rice was also very dry. My mixed chicken and steak fajitas were okay. The meat was overcooked for my taste and the bell peppers and onions were undercooked. Not a good combo to have. Needless to say next time plan A doesn't pan out we'll go elsewhere. read more
