Average at best and the green chili is definitely not from New Mexico. Would not recommend!

Stopped in for lunch on their pleasant patio and were very pleased with the robust flavors, craft cocktails, and local ingredients of their elevated foods of Mexico. We shared the Posole and Greens of Enchantment salad, both with Green Chili Pollo. We also tried their Vegan Queso which was well balanced and not greasy. Quality of the chicken and green chili flavor was solid making a good base for our dishes. The fresh blend of greens in the salad was gratifying. The fresh harmony and grits beans in the Posole along with fresh greens, were amazing. Juliana provided great recommendations and was knowledgeable about the chef's creations. Two stars for location and nice patio. Zero stars for food and service. I ordered the chopped salad and added chicken. The chicken they added was mushy wet chicken that totally ruined the salad. Also the ingredients listed on the menu was not what came out. SO disappointed in the food !!! Waitress never came back after we got our food to ask how things were. Maybe she knew how bad it was already. Also, our water and drinks sat empty the whole time we ate. The last straw was when she ran our credit card she automatically hit the 20% tip. She should have given me the opportunity to choose my own tip as it certainly wouldn't have been 20%. Will for sure not be back!! read more

Racist waitress- if you want to have an unpleasant time and be ignored by the racist waitress with short hair come here ! The whole time she ignored our table. Walked many times by us and had a lame excuse why we never received our drinks. Finally the manager came after and took care of us. She was kind and tried to make things better. Overall I'd skip this place and just get some tacos at the tortilla house down the street !!! read more

So first off, I looked at the menu outside and was about to go somewhere else but something told me to go in and try it. The bartender/server was awesome. I asked for recommendations and he delivered with a great set is fish tacos and a smoky margarita! Friendly atmosphere and great food, what else can I say but I was impressed. We went here after going to Deer Lodge and the new bartender said we should try Tres Hermanas as he works there too. The decor was cute and authentic (that's the 1 star). The server gave us our menus and she circled back for our drinks and we asked for hornitas tequila. They didnt have it . She brought us a tequila menu to choose something else. But then she walked away to serve a table of 20. Obviously she was going to be busy for a while. So we went to the bar to order our drinks while we wait for server to come back for our food menu. The bartender told us to wait for our server and then she turned her back! It would have taken her a couple of minutes to make two margaritas and we would have been happy to wait for our server. Instead we left and went to Seafresh .. we were happy to give them our money. They were friendly and the food was excellent. read more

Six of us came here for lunch because the Nest was so busy, and we are sorry we did. Two of the stews were barely warm and my meal was totally undercooked. All meals were lacking flavor. We brought this to the server's and manager's attention and neither seemed to care, only to be made worse by the server's condescending attitude. If this was my restaurant I would never be okay with three out of six meals being served sub-par and knowingly let dissatisfied customers leave without so much as an apology. And btw, lunch for six with one beer each was over $250. We definitely will not be back and won't be recommending it to friends. read more

Have eaten here a few times (local). Be clear, it is New Mexico style food. The food is pretty spot on for that style. Sauces are especially good. It could use one side, beans or rice or a veggie. It would benefit from a small side salad, too. I think the owners-local sisters- lost focus on this one given they have to manage the bigger Deer Lodge. In terms of food this is one of the worst restaurants I've been to in my life. Overpriced cafeteria food. The happy hour pieces should be the regular prices - a disappointment and waste of space in beautiful downtown Ojai. read more

This is our new favorite restaurant in Ojai. The chili is the best restaurant made chili we have had and the green chile chicken is outstanding. The service was friendly and attentive and the outside patio was perfect for dining with our dog. Also, really appreciated the designated "gluten free" and plentiful options. read more

I was hesitant to try this place based on reviews although I went with a few friends. It took a while to be seated and when we asked where the hostess was the lady seemed annoyed and rolled her eyes saying they were busy. When getting ready to order food, I was debating on tacos or enchiladas. The waitress then told us they were out of small tortillas so they couldn't serve tacos or enchiladas. Three out of 5 of their main entrees include tortillas! I asked if they could use the large tortillas from the burritos to make tacos but that also wasn't an option. 3.5/5 stars I really wanted to love this place right off the bat, but there are definitely a few kinks that need to be worked out. First, the pros: + Good service + Great drinks (Prickly Paloma was extra tasty) + Tasty food + Outdoor patio The service was very friendly, and it was clear that the servers were working together to make sure that everyone's needs were met. The cocktails were well-made, and I would definitely come back for drinks alone. The queso was really good - definitely a standout. Sopapilla was solid, too. Now, the improvements: - Single-use plates and bowls - Pricey for what it is Let me start off by saying that I completely acknowledge that nothing is cheap these days, and I want restaurants to charge enough for their services in order to pay their employees a competitive wage and provide them with good benefits. While I am happy to pay $50+ per person for a meal, I would also expect to eat off of reusable dishes with slightly larger portion sizes. It was a little jarring to sit in this lovely patio to be served lovely food on (compostable, yes) single-use plates. It just seems to be an easy fix to switch to basic white restaurant dishes and really upgrade the whole experience. I know that their sister bar-restaurant, The Deer Lodge, uses the same compostable single-use plates, but a) the food is less expensive there, and b) it's a casual bar-restaurant serving BBQ, which seems appropriate. In addition, I would say that the serving sizes are somewhat inconsistent. While the queso and sopapilla were generous portions, the enchiladas were really small and underwhelming. I really want this restaurant to succeed, and I'm hoping to update this review in a few months with 5 stars. They have a great concept, solid food, kind people, and an awesome location - there is just a little space to improve. read more

This restaurant serves a take on traditional Mexican food, sort of like artisanal New Mexico cuisine. This place was so cute, we had a warm table on the patio and enjoyed the ambiance. The wet chips, queso and Frito pie were delicious! The service was great and the drinks were slow to arrive but decent. The menu was a little pricey, considering we didn't love the food we got. We wanted to try a little of everything so after about $247 later we were a little disappointed with not the quality or quantity but taste of the dishes served. We found them beautiful in plating but bland in flavor. Specifically the Pasole, Enchilladas and Fish tacos were very disappointing. I immediately saw similarities with the Deer Lodge...... same weird disposable plates, servers and/or bartenders who are questionably working or dining (actually eating while serving). Gluten free gang, this is your spot! Drinks were banging, food was sooo yummy, and service was pleasant. We had the frito pie, queso (a must!!!), and corn salad. They made some super fun mocktails for my friend and yummy alcoholic drinks for me. There are plenty of GF options, which left me with so many options to decide upon (that rarely happens with GF). The aesthetic was on point and the location was perfect. Tasty and warm ambience, friendly service. My Dad and I dropped in for a Friday night dinner. We both tried a tasty pork and green chili stew, perfect for a wintery evening. I'd give this place a zero if I could. I went in on a Sunday afternoon with hardly any customers in there (no surprise). It was my first time dining there, and boy am I sorry to have bothered! As we walked in, no one cared to greet us. After placing our drink order, we waited forever to place our food orders since the waiter took her sweet time rearranging the tables and silverware without approaching us to see if we're ready to order. We had to call her several times to get her attention. She had a HORRIBLE attitude, didn't care to come back for drink refills nor did she ask to see how we're doing or if we needed anything else. Don't be fooled by the semi cute ambiance as the energy is beyond horrible and the food is ABSOLUTELY nothing special. Not to mention, when we complained about one of the dishes, both servers that helped us completely disregarded our concern. We left hungry and frustrated. We had the Elote wedge salad and the stacked blue corn enchiladas with beef! Everything was delicious and the bill for our meal was so inexpensive I felt like they might have left something off!! New restaurant in town has great potential. Very nice cozy patio which is where the primary seating is. Very small inside. Bar was too slow and kitchen too fast. Also, not a fan of the compostable dishware; it clashed with the nice surroundings and made it feel like "fast food". However, these things will be worked out, I hope. I grew up in NM and can tell you that while some dishes were authentic (the green chile stew) some were not re: the enchilada. The queso was good but needed some green chile in it. Also, while sopapillas can be offered stuffed, they typically come on the side, like a tortilla and not for an extra charge. Sopapillas are also great with honey, which is usually on the table. Great margaritas and wonderful tequila selection! We will be back. read more

Location and outdoor patio atmosphere are great. Service is sufficient, although not very attentive. Can't speak to much of the menu, but I can speak to one item described as "LOADED GUACAMOLE made fresh every day! guacamole with roasted corn, onions, tomato, cilantro, topped with radish and Chile oil." I have eaten guac for many years in many places around the world and I can say without a doubt that this was the WORST example of guacamole I have ever had. The large serving at $18 comes as 3 scoops of this whipped green mass. It looks like powdered avocado mixed with water to me. And it tastes like that as well. Corn? Onion? Tomato? Did not see any or taste any. They used to make guac at the sister restaurant and it was very good. They should resurrect that recipe cuz this one is terrible! And they don't do salsa so while Chile Oil is a nice touch, it doesn't equal salsa. Fortunately, there are places in Ojai that do make good guac. This is just not one of them. read more
