Dongpei was a great instructor! I had him only for my last lesson and I wish I had him before as well. We scheduled a lesson two hours before my test, and he let me practice the test route 7-8 times. He even took me inside to the dmv in Stoneridge and helped guide me through the process. Awesome instructor! He reviewed all my car parts required for the test and helped correct my form. He was there even after his scheduled time was over and genuinely cared whether I passed. Thanks to him, I passed on my first try. My other instuctor was BJ and I was not very satisfied with her as she would stress me out and if I did something wrong she would put me down. I was anxious and all the reviews said she was good but my experience was the opposite. read more

I bought a package with Tri Valley after reading all of the amazing reviews here and on Google about BJ. I cannot say I had the same amazing experience that everyone else did. BJ is an absolutely terrible instructor. It seems that she wanted me to come into these lessons as an experienced driver. Instead of building my confidence and knowledge, she did the opposite. She would constantly yell at me when I did something wrong instead of using it as an educational moment, whack at my hands on the wheel, and use her phone while I was driving. She would then repeatedly ask me why I was so nervous and tense and tell me to chill out, as if she didn't spend two hours berating me as someone who is just attempting to learn in a safe space. She also made me suddenly drive on the freeway during busy hours, when I had already told her that I was not super comfortable as a driver yet. Not only that, she was just generally unprofessional. She would constantly text me and call me last minute, often day of, if I could reschedule. She used a chunk of our lesson to "teach me how to get gas," when really, she was unprepared and her tank was empty. She would always show up super early to appointments, to fit her own schedule, and acted as if I was late to my appointment. If you decide to take lessons with them, note that there are no refunds, packages are paid for in full, and they have weird customer service. Everything is done through text, they have an outdated, minimally functioning website, and they do not answer calls. If you do book with them, ask for Dongpei. He was nice. It's a bummer that I spent most of my time with BJ. read more

BJ is a gem of a driving instructor. She went out of her way to give both my drivers-in-training a ton of practice, insights, tips and tricks. One of my children had her behind-the-wheel test at a DMV with tough driving conditions. BJ drove her to this location on every driving lesson (a 45 minutes drive in traffic) so that she got familiar with the pedestrian and traffic patterns. Thanks to BJ's patience and upbeat attitude both my children aced their behind-the-wheel tests on the first try. You are a star, BJ! Thank you. Kelly is very customer-oriented and follows through on her commitments. She is a scheduling wizard. One of her driving-test vehicles developed an engine problem the night before my daughter was to take her test. Kelly got a substitute vehicle driven in from Sacramento to the Bay Area the next day to ensure my daughter would still make her testing appointment at the DMV. Kelly saved the day and my daughter passed the test. My impression from my interactions with Tri-Valley Driving School (Kelly is one of the owners) is the company values the customer experience and less about the money. I recommend Tri-Valley to anyone seeking a good combination of driving instructors and a great experience scheduling classes and driving tests for young, first-time drivers. read more

I wish I would have read the previous reviews for this company. My son had his first two lessons with this place. It was just ok. He attempted to schedule his last appointment and was told to call back later--about a month later. He called back about 3 weeks later and had an appointment scheduled (my mom was with him). He called yesterday to confirm his appointment and was told he hadn't called to "confirm" that appointment time--huh? So now they want to schedule him almost a month out, meaning a month behind to get his license. They refuse to return phone calls, messages, texts. Unreal. We were able to get an appt with another school, sadly about 2 weeks out from the original appointment. Just hoping they will send records showing his first two lessons were completed. BUYER BEWARE--this was paid for in full back in February. read more

My daughter took classes with Paul and Denise before her driving test. We received excellent customer service throughout. Owners Kelly and Paul were very pleasant to talk to, very accomodating and able to schedule some classes within the timeframe I was asking for. Their instructor Denise was very thorough and taught all the essential skills that were needed to clear the test and evaluated my daughter's skills and advised necessary corrections needed. They were honest in their feedback, and my daughter loved the classes with both Denise and Paul. We are very happy with our experience and I highly recommend Trivalley Driving school!! read more

Thank you Tri Valley Driving. My daughter received her permit end of March, day before DMV shut down due to the SIP. I waited till June hoping someone would open up to validate her permit. I called a couple Other driving schools and either they were not open or got no reply. Tri Valley got right back to me and scheduled her first lesson immediately. She will be on her way to obtaining her drivers license on time. This is my second experience with TVDS. My 23 year old also used them and I was happy then too. read more

I had a great experience with this school. They are super responsive and reasonably priced. My instructor Charles was very kind and always showed up on time to pick me up for my appointments. I love how calm he always stayed and offered helpful tips to help me pass my behind-the-wheel test. And I passed it :) read more

I've posted a review previously and wanted to add some more info. The teacher, Ms Antonia is a great driving instructor! I want to thank her for teaching my daughter well and prepared her for the test that she just took today. My daughter passed the test with perfect score. No mark off points whatsoever. Ms Antonia prepared my daughter well. I would really recommend Ms Antonia to anyone who wants their child to be well prepared for the driving test. I would not recommend this driving school. They were constantly late to appointments. Teachers did not teach what they were suppose too. One day a teacher didn't even show up for an appointment. They do not answer phones and only reply via text. Overall not a good experience. I have used Danville Driving school before for my other teen and sad I went with Trivalley. read more

At long last , as of yesterday, I am a licensed driver, which I owe partly to personal will and mostly to Tri Valley Driving School. Yes I am a New York transplant, so the adult non-driver in me wasn't the weirdest thing imaginable, but I've been in the Bay Area for six years now and the New York excuse was old like five years ago. I had seriously developed a fear of driving. I was scared of being on the road with other cars and pedestrians and was concerned about spontaneously loosing control of my vehicle and not being in control of the vehicles around me. I totally recognize that this sounds crazy. But it ran deep and got deeper the more I thought about it. I had looked into various driving schools and had considered taking lessons at a special school in SF that focused on non-driving adults who were scared of driving and wanted to over come that fear. But honestly, I didn't want to and could not afford to drop that kind of cash. So I found the happiest medium possible with Tri Valley Driving School. It is a new business (just about a year old) headquartered in San Ramon but the instructors come pick you up from your house or work or school and drop you off post-lesson through out the East Bay (not sure about SF). I got to take my lessons from the owner of the company, Vince Ramirez, who really knows his stuff and has a laid back but solid attitude that put my nervous driving self at ease. He told me exactly what I could expect from the road test and made me feel safe in traffic situations that before I would have freaked out about. After three lessons and a fair amount of weekend practicing with my boyfriend, I scheduled my DMV road test at Oakland's Claremont DMV and set up an appointment with Tri Valley Driving School for a combo 45-minute lesson and test on the school's car. It was great because, Vince knew exactly where I needed to go and what lines to wait in at the DMV. He even told me different probable variations of the test course. I was super nervous, but all of that information really helped me pass the test. I didn't get a perfect score which I attribute partially to a vaguely animalistic wide left turn and partially to DMV bureaucracy, but who cares cause I am officially a licensed driver. Tri Valley was the utmost in professional and accommodating. Their clientele base is split pretty evenly between teenagers and adults. And the woman who answers the phone and handles all of the scheduling is a total sweet heart and knows her stuff. She worked hard to shuffle their schedule around so that Vince could take me for my driving test so I would not have to reschedule with the DMV. Prices are the average rate for driving lessons. It is $100 per lesson and $150 for the lesson/test combo. And it is worth every penny. read more

Absolutely unreliable. First of all, the woman who picks up the phone, Linda, is absolutely rude. She doesn't listen to you needs because she's busy laughing at someone's jokes in the background, she is completely insensitive to conflicting schedules (e.g. I work 9-6 and was unable to book even ONE daytime appointment on my only days off), and does not care about the service. First appointment- driver was 40 minutes late. Then he spent 20 minutes just talking and wasting time. Apparently he was not supposed to drive me home afterwards (according to Linda), but promised he would do anything to make the process easier for me by picking me up there next time. When Linda heard about this she threatened to cancel my lessons and refund 1/3 of my money. Excuse me? I tried to let them know about their problem on their facebook page more than one time, and each time my comments were deleted. Their facebook now has commenting disabled. HOW RUDE. that's $380 down the drain, wasted on such a shit product. I want all of my money back. I'd rather spend it somewhere else. read more

BJ is a phenomenal instructor. My daughter feels so much more ready to be on the roads thanks to BJ's patient instructions.

As of today I am a licensed driver all thanks to BJ from TVDS. She helped me correct my turns, taught me how to properly park into a spot, and how to parallel park. While my first 2 teachers weren't that great BJ helped to polish up my driving skills and I passed with only 3 marks off on the test!! read more

They take too many students and don't have enough instructors. Prepare to wait weeks to get an appointment. They would talk to you like they are doing a huge favor giving you an instructor that you already paid for. I searched around and found way better service in another school close by and they were willing to accommodate for my schedule. I do not recommend this school for your kids. read more

I've paid for the package for 3 driving training lessons for my son and scheduled 1st appointment in 2 weeks. But circumstances changed and 2 days after I paid for the package, I had to cancel my purchase. When I called the office in the morning, I was told by the receptionist, that she can't issue a refund and had to get a permission from her supervisor. She promised to call me back in the afternoon with the answer. Of course, she didn't call and when I stopped by the office on my way from work, the supervisor, apparently, was "in the meeting" all day long and was not going to be available that day. So I left with the promise that she would call me the next day. She called the next day and stated that they were ready to reverse transaction on my credit card, but will charge me $50 for processing?! $50 for a standard customer refund?!?! Banks don't charge as much for overdrawing your account as this place! Medical offices don't charge as much for making copies of your records! $50 to reverse a payment for the services that were not provided?! If they behave like this in the simple business procedures, how they can be trusted with anything else? I will also be writing a letter to Better Business Bureau. By the way, the issue is still not resolved, because it takes them a week to "process", whatever it means. Very disappointed and unhappy with the basic services. read more

I would definitely recommend Tri Valley Driving School. My daughter just passed her driving test on Tuesday on the first try. I also used them for my older daughter too. The woman who answers the phone (sorry can't remember her name) is so nice and friendly. She would take her time explaining their program and answering any questions that I had. The driving instructor that my daughter had (BJ) was wonderful. My daughter was available to text her a question the morning of her test and she helped her right away. She also texted her later that day to see how the test went. I felt like they really cared. read more

Had my first driving lesson @ tri valley drving school. At last my have overcome my fear of driving partially .My instructor - Jack was cool, motivating and really polite person. All I can say is my confidence has improved a lot post-lesson. Although, it is a little pricey 112 bucks for 2 hrs, but its totally worth it.. atleast for ppl who want to remove the fear of driving :) read more

Today my daughter passed the test and received her license!! Tri-Valley Driving School (TVDS) was instrumental in teaching her good driving habits. They took time to explain in details what areas she needed to work on between appointments. The staff was attentive and helpful with our scheduling needs. About 3 hours prior to an appointment, we received a call notifying us the car had broken down and they needed to reschedule. They contacted us immediately when the problem arose and worked with us to fit a reschedule into our busy lives. This is my second child to go through TVDS and both passed with flying colors at first try! We have one more to go and will definitely return to TVDS. read more

I took Traffic School here, and if was fantastic. The instructor was knowledgeable and greatly improved my driving awareness, and reminded me of a lot of things I had forgotten. The time went by quickly and it was not boring. They mixed group excercises and discussions with videos, games and scenarios to make the class very interactive. Special thanks to my driving instructor Jack. On the driving test, I only got 3 mistakes. In addition to being polite, patient, and a great storyteller, he was very knowledgable about driving and I got over my fear of driving in no time. He helped me correct everything from lane changes to pulling to the curb side and not hitting it. With all his patience and time, I was not only able to successfully pass my driving test, but I am now a safe driver. We used Tri Valley to prepare my fourth son to get his driver's license. First, he did the online course. Then, he had his 3 behind-the-wheel sessions. He passed his driving tests (written and behind-the-wheel) on the first try. The driving instructors prepared him well. After the third and final behind-the-wheel session, he came home with a checklist of things he needed to practice. He also brought home a list of the items he would need to have with him when he went for the test. Very thorough. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because they were late to pick him up for his final behind-the-wheel and did not take him on the freeway to practice (I assume because they were running short on time). That's my only complaint. Otherwise, they were friendly and dependable. The wait times to schedule lessons were short. The people on the phones (usually Thelma) were very friendly. read more

I only write 5 STAR reviews if it BEATS my expectations and Try-Valley did! We signed our 15 1/2 year old daughter up for the classroom and behind the wheel package. Erika at the front desk was amazing, answered all my questions and gave us lots of information for my daughter to get studying. She passed her permit test - no problem. Next was part 2, and my daughter had zero behind the wheel experience. (scary face). The instructor was patient, arrived on time and didn't waste my daughters time, as I've heard some other schools do. After her three lessons, she had so much fun she agreed to do another 3 lessons just on the freeway and to park in her parking spot at school, because she was going to be driving from San Ramon to Concord to Pleasanton then back to San Ramon every day and that traffic is hard to navigate as an adult let along a new driver. She passed her drivers test with no problem and is a VERY GOOD...no GREAT driver!! Parents want HER to be the designated driver. No tickets, no accidents, and now she's off to college. I will definitely use them with my next kid. Two thumbs up!! read more

I submitted an order at 3:30 yesterday for my daughters driving lessons. An hour later we had a family emergency and had to cancel. Her driving lessons weren't scheduled until July so I thought everything would be fine. I called and spoke with Jenny. She told me that there was a no cancellation policy. I got off the phone and read the entire website. There was nothing posted! I called jenny back and she informed me that there was a no cancellation on the emailed receipt. I didn't sign anything and she never gave me any indication that there was such a policy in place. Jenny was no help at all so I emailed the owner/manager and stated that their notification was after the fact. I then suggested that he or she add it to their website. No answer from anyone. You can't run a business by locking people in without prior notice AND SHE CHARGED US $381FOR THREE LESSONS!! read more
