Came here last night at 8:30pm and sat at the bar. Bartender Vinny was engaging and provided great service. Food came out fairly quick. We ordered $1 oysters (available 9-10pm), Spanish octopus, pork belly, and the bone marrow. Plating is 5/5 - very beautiful. Taste is 5/5 - all flavors complimented one another and so flavorful. The title says it all. There is nothing special about this establishment. Visited on a Friday for dinner. They didn't seem to have a great vegan selection though they did have a good mushroom taco, and cauliflower as the appetizer (just okay). Though the chef is vegetarian there are no vegan dessert options, not even mixed fruit. My friend ordered an expresso and the cup had about 2 tablespoons of exspresso. The staff member volunteered to bring my friend another shot and then charged her for it. When we explained what happened to the manager she looked at the table and said, "well you got two orders of espresso correct." I thought "really," how impolite. Lastly, we were asked to leave...I assume it was because of COVID, though staff didn't explain that. I think it would have been appropriate to tell us the time limit when we arrived, or put it on there website. My party was from out of town and visiting this restaurant for the first time so it shouldn't be assumed that we are aware of the time limit. Again, they have food so if that's all you want then it is fine, but if you want a great vegan selection, and friendly/knowledgeable staff...this place isn't it. read more

Stopped in monday for an early dinner. Dollar oysters were good. I had a blood orange margarita which is nice. Shrimp and octopus ceviche was ok. It didnt stand out. But it was okay. The lamb lollipop wAs reallyy good. There were two on the plate but one barely had any meat and the other was really big. That made it awkward for sharing. I would go back for dollar oyster and drinks at the bar. The set up and interior designing is beautiful. The place looks great. I can picture it being a hot spot on a friday night. Service was ok, nothing bad but I expected better from a place like that. The place dont have A/C which made it very difficult to enjoy dinner. We really wanted to try the tacos but it getting so uncomfortable we ended just grabbing the tab and going to boston beer works across the street for drinks. Let me say, it was soo nice and cold inside boston beer works!! I wouldnt come back for dinner. Maybe oysters, drinks, and possibly try the tacos next time im in the area. read more

Rock solid 4.5 stars... would have been five if the service were a wee bit better/faster. Granted we go into this place on the hottest day of the year. A very nice menu... with an array of seafood standards, pub standards, and even some euro standards. Had s dozen oysters, priced well, ice cold and very delicious. My lovely bride had Toad in a Hole - prosciutto and arugula with a toast ripe egg thing. Looked good, she loved it. I had a burger... unusual for me, but honestly it was damn good. There are several dining options in the Hingham Shipyard. The menu posted outside Trident helped us decide it was just what we were looking for. I thought it would be a typical raw bar, but was pleasantly surprised. The casual nautical atmosphere was just right for dropping in for a quick bite. It was a bit noisy but not too crowded for a Friday night. There is a decent selection of local beers on tap. The Red Sangria was fruity and refreshing. Melissa, our server, explained the Blood Orange Margarita's rim was dipped in both salt and sugar and assured me I would like it. She was right! The flavor was unexpectedly delicious with a slight tang. The garden salad was lightly dressed with balsamic vinaigrette. The grilled shrimp taco on corn tortillas was mouthwatering and the fish taco was a tasty combination of flavors and textures. Melissa was friendly and checked in several times. Small spot with a small menu. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it very much. The caliente margarita was great. I had the short rib which was incredible. The polenta was cheesy and perfect! My boyfriend had the surf and turf special which was good but had to be re-fired because the steak was under done. He managed to clear his plate completely and mentioned the sauce was a little overpowering. I felt the same way about my meal in the sense the sauce was a little much but delicious none the less ! Oysters were perfectly shucked. Overall great experience but I will say it's quite expensive especially when you over do it with the cocktails lol read more

This is the worse restaurant experience I've had in the 15yrs I've lived in Mass! We ordered a few seafood dishes to share. They brought everything out including the oysters at the same time, all at once!!! In a 90DEG weather!! Usually restaurants do this when they're hella busy...Trident had a total of 8 customers! The service is so poor that for the first time in my adult life I left a 10% tip and honestly I wanted to leave ZERO tip. They brought us the wrong dish, told us it's the wrong dish and never fixed it; just disappeared! I pointed out to the waitress when she brought the bill and she pretty much responded with oh well. The table across from us also got the wrong dish! I understand covid happened and we all struggled for a year. But it's one thing to be short handed, it's another to have a full staff of people who give zero cares about customers or the food. Tried this place today after a movie and enjoyed it! Liked the Decor and table setup. It was the Monday during Memorial Day weekend and they were offering brunch which was a nice option - we opted for lunch. The menu offerings included small bites, raw bar, salads, and a few sandwiches. I had the lobster BLT slider - which was OK but felt it was overpriced at $9 and the quinoa salad, this was good with arugula . My mom had the chicken and avocado sandwich with sliced potato wedges and a small arugula side salad - which was very good. Overall the experience was good, the waitress was very friendly and attentive. I'd go back and try the fired oyster sandwich or meat board - they were served at another table and looked great. read more

I just ordered takeout at Trident and there was an inconsistency between the take-out menu ingredients on one of the dishes versus the main menu. Because the takeout is handled by a third party app, the manager said he couldn't refund me. But, he handled it very well and more than made up for the issue. I recently moved nearby and have eaten in the restaurant several times. The food the and staff have always been great. Kudos the the manager and the staff! I'll be back. read more

This review is really more like 3.5 stars. The wife and I had some late night cravings for Island Creek oysters but we did not want to make the drive to Boston so we stumbled upon Trident Galley. To our delight, they had a special after 9PM every night BOGO oysters. We didn't order any entrees but opted to share a few small plates. Dozen oysters on the half shell - Island Creeks are one of our favorites and to get them at half off is even better. Clams 3 Ways - Best dish we had, rustic style clam chowder topped with chunks of deep fried clams. The fry of the clams was well seasoned and did not feel heavy. Roasted bone marrow - Bone marrow topped with shredded beef and a sunny side up quail egg. We really wanted to like this dish but felt like it just missed the mark. The marrow seemed to be just undercooked and didn't spread nicely. Instead of spreading like butter, it felt more like spreading crumbled cheese. The flavor was nice and the portion was descent. Patatas Bravas - Fried potato wedges... Saffron poached shrimp cocktail - We didn't taste or notice any saffron flavor, the shrimp was a descent size but it tasted just like any other shrimp cocktail. Smoked trout deviled eggs - This was okay, the deviled eggs did have a hint of the smoked trout flavor. I don't think we would order this again. Baby kale Caesar salad - Standard Caesar salad but replace the romaine for kale and top it off with some white anchovies. The drinks were okay, but nothing special. I would recommend sticking with beer and wine. It could have just been an off night when we went because there was only one guy behind the bar who also was taking our order. read more

Wow! We took the ferry to Hingham and what a great find!! We decided on the small plates and picked: pork belly, tuna taco, lobster Rangoon, trout pate deviled eggs and oysters. Unfortunately the staff has been nothing but rude to me the manager has treated me like I am a nonpaying costumer. this rude staff has made me not want to come back to this place especially the manager he's extremely rude and completely unprofessional. Great location, but the cocktails are overpriced. $16 small margaritas, that's mostly ice are not worth it. Three sips and you're left with a glass of ice. Oysters and taco are overpriced as well. Service was impeccable and the server was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I will give Trident another try based on the server. read more

We stopped here last night to get a bite to eat. The fish and chips were not very tasty and the french fries were overdone and had no flavor. The Caesar salad was not fresh or tasty.A disappointing meal. I doubt we'll we will be returning.I feel bad giving them a bad review but the waitress could've offered us another selection when she asked how the food was and I replied negatively. On the weekend with the great weather, we took the boat ride to Hingham Shipyard and accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant for lunch. The décor is very nice and pleasant but the service was very, very slow. At the time, there were only three tables of customers and it took about 20 minutes to get our soup. We ordered clam chowder, tuna poke and Spanish octopus. Both tuna poke and Spanish octopus were very good, especially grilled octopus. Chowder was not your typical New England chowder, which is fine. However it was tasted quite weird and potato was a little bit under cooked. This might a different style of chowder. read more

Well as a semi regular visitor, I guess our past grades suggest this is worth the visit. That said it is time for a downgrade and here is why. Good news & bad news Good first. The Has the best, if not one of 3 best lobster rolls in Boston vicinity, in this case South Shore. Score for me a 4.9 out of 5. Now bad news My wife always gets same thing, Fish & Chips because, well we both love fried haddock. Let's take last 5 visits. 1st time it was excellent. Solid 4, but last 4 times, it was with greasy, or as case today, greasy and wet inside. So today it was a gracious 2.0. This means it officially has impacted the overall rating from a 4 to a 2. Remember if your going for lobster roll, your going to have a 4or5 experience. Side bar: The bar red Cabernet is Decoy which is promo. Suggestion for next summer, get some real table umbrellas, (i.e. bigger) that can tilt. Current ones are tiny. The outdoor seating can get pretty hot as it's in sun all afternoon. I would also like to see some, any, new items on the menu. Same menu for past 2 summers. Tired of it, although, never take off the Lobster roll, but a bigger bum would be nice. As to Haddock, come on, do better, cook it, hotter oil? Whatever makes it less greasy, but changing to Italian panko crumbs would step it up as a starter. read more

We went because our daughter was visiting from out of town and wanted oysters. We live nearby. Saturday night was too noisy to have a conversation. The service was slow - our waitress was good but overworked. The food was really really overpriced. The "clams 3 ways" only had 3 dinky little clams. Oysters were $3.50 and up / per oyster. Excellent drinks and food! We had a duck confit, six oysters, lamb chops, and ratatouille. All of them were nicely done. We were both surprised by the size of duck confit. It comes with a decent size for a tapas place since I'm used to tiny, over-priced tapas places.. I had mezcal drinks and spicy margarita with some of personal requests, and it also turned out great. I can be pretty picky when it comes to cocktails, but i was very happy with my drinks last night. The server was super nice. She was very attentive, and heard all of my requests on food. We sampled 6 or 7 of the small plates. All were well prepared and the tacos were delicious (1 taco for $8 better be great!). The brussels were the weakest dish out of the bunch, lacked flavir and we're undercooked. Short rib was great. We had a reservation but were seated in what seemed like a bar waiting area. Table was way too small for many plates and the space is shared, so you have dinner with strangers sitting 2 feet from you. It was a weird setup and I don't get why a reservation would be placed there. There were only a few entree choices on the menu so small plates are really the best choice, but given the setup they should offer more entrees. The small plates also come out as they're ready, instead of being thoughtfully coordinated and timed like other small plate establishments I've been to. The first few dates we're for me so my date had to sit without food until one they wanted came. read more

My husband and I had a just o.k experience. First let me say the atmosphere is lovely, the outdoor seating is a perfect place to spend a summer evening. The waitress was nice enough to start. We ordered wellfleet oysters and they didn't disappoint, so tasty. My husband had the fish tacos which he felt were over spiced but he liked them well enough. I ordered the seared scallops with eggplant and basil oil, what I got were perfectly seared scallops with blackened peppers and onions in some sauce that tasted like franks and beans. I was so taken aback by the flavor I asked my husband to try and he agreed, franks and beans. It is so confusing why anyone would want to dumb down the flavor of a beautifully seared scallop, such a shame. Needless to say I will be avoiding that dish in the future. Now to talk about the service, it started off well but by the second round of drinks I was made to wait about 20 minutes for a glass of wine while my husband already had his beer. This through off the timing of our meal enough that I didn't have the opportunity to finish my glass before we needed to leave. Overall it wasn't worth the price tag. I give it 3 stars for the atmosphere and the oysters. Next time we will stick to drinks and the raw bar. read more
