I've been to Trigo so many times and I can't believe I've never left them a review!! Food and service is consistently good. And the place is clean! Sunday brunch is my favorite time to visit. They're a small place but they can get super packed so we'll opt to sit at the bar area most times. The croquetas are amazing here. They sell the Islas Canarias croquetas which are so flavor packed, crunchy, and big. The Gypsy and chicken and waffles are my favorite brunch items. When I'm not ordering a regular cafe con leche (coffee and milk), I get the Trigo frappuchino. It's so good. It's basically adding coffee to a trigo milkshake. Love coming here! read more

This place is cute and small and charming. The staff is friendly and welcoming but I was not impressed with the food at all. It was good but that was it. I had a pan con bistec but found it to be lacking... it was dry and there was really nothing great about it. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and while it was good it was not anything to rave about. The fries were really yummy ... shoestring thin and crispy. And the croquetas fantastic but they are from Islas Canarias so not made there. Something was also off with the frying oil I think because although stuff tasted fresh there was a lingering bitter aftertaste in all the fried stuff. Let me start by saying. Don't pay attention to some of the bad reviews. I was debating of going or not. Luckily we decided to check it out anyways. To my surprise we had a delicious breakfast. I ordered the Avocado Toast and my husband ordered the old Glory It comes with croquetas, ham, toast and cafe con leche con leche evaporada. Great choice. There was 20 min wait but worth it. The staff super nice. Service was fast and the presentation very nice. We didn't try the desserts but they had bread pudding with bourbon glaze and best of all Timba. Just left Trigo Cafe with my family. The staff was extremely friendly. We do not know a lot of Cuban meals, however, Julio and Kathy explained the menu to us and I could tell they were happy to do so. The customer service there was really on another level that I wasn't expecting. The Cuban sandwiches were great. The Yucca fries are amazing. The croquettes and empanadas were so good you could just go there to have a meal of those (many varieties). The Trigo Milkshake was very tasty--we would get again, it consisted of this unique puffed wheat milk combination that we've never had in a dessert before. To top it all off, the dessert, which is made by the owner's 85-year-old mother, is something you need to try. Oh, and the flan, it was truly the best Flan I've ever had! Love the ambiance and food here. I've been once for dinner and once for brunch and I'm already ready to return. Their main focus is sandwiches and burgers but they're so good. Other places have soggy sandwiches but this place will serve you freshly made sandwiches with toasted bread and fresh ingredients. Yuca fries were amazing. You can actually taste the yuca and not tooooo fried where all you taste is oil. Desserts were great. The arroz con leche and flan are made by the owners mom. Talk about the homemade vibe and taste. I came in excited to try the avocado toast; sadly it was not on the menu. However, my health fit breakfast was delicious. This included scrambled egg whites, turkey, tomatoes, and cafe con leche. Of course I can't go to trigo with out ordering half a dozen isla canarias croquetas. Also had a merenguito which was the biggest I've ever had. Oh let's not forget a chicken soup to go. Drove past this place and decided to turn around and try it out for breakfast. We were greeted right away and although it was kinda packed we waited to be seated for like 3-4 minutes. So it was quick. Waiters / staff are pretty friendly. Menu looks good and prices seem reasonable. My boyfriend and I order a trigo and mamey shake which it was delicious! And for breakfast he had eggs , bacon croquetas & toast which it was super good and fresh. I had a French toast sandwich with a red guava sauce that was fire! Very delicious! Would recommend! Although I don't like the fact that they are located next to a funeral home I Love their coffee and their croquetas so I always keep coming back for more ! I do need to say that I have had their traditional Cuban breakfast on 2 occasions, one it was perfect snd the second left a lot to be desired but I am choosing not to downgrade my review since everyone has an off day . Decided to try it again after 3-4 years and let me tell you worse than back then. Don't come on Saturday mornings. It gets packed and they only have 2 employees. I was sat down 1.5 hours later. Super upset about the menus, the prices on the actual paper menu are incorrect. The charged me more. Management needs to fix this, after questioning the server said "oh that's the way it is". Owner Julio came to greet us as we were asking if we could bring our dog. They don't allow pets although he has dogs himself. He was very kind explaining their most requested coffees and sandwiches. We went for his recommendation the BomBon coffee, an eye pleasing coffee with condensed milk on the base to stir and mix into the dark roasted other half. What a pleasant little Cuban shop to stumble upon! We came here on a whim and it's a bit far from our normal stomping ground but totally worth the 45 minute drive. If I'm in the area, this will be the first place I'll think of! The restaurant is a little small but it's super cozy and the clientele and staff/managers are SUPER friendly. Not to mention the out-of-this-world food. I had the pan con bistec and my boyfriend ordered the porky sandwich. The sandwiches are huge and they cut them in half so we ended up having one half of each and got to try both sandwiches. The pan con bistec was amazing!! The meat was good quality and the onions were perfectly grilled. The porky sandwich was made with sriracha so it has a teeny bit of kick but it's Alamo sweet, perfect combo! Both sandwiches were so good but the highlight was the incredible yuca fries and that green sauce! Sooooooo yummy!! We ordered the white wine and a beer - wine was good and my boyfriend went home with a new favorite local beer brewed in Jupiter, FL! The cafe/restaurant is VERY clean, quaint, cutesy, and chill. I arrived about 8:10am and was a little indecisive. I finally decided on the Elena Ruz sandwich( with guava jelly and added fried eggs) cafe con leche, and bacalao croquettes. The cafe wasn't busy but it took a great amount of time to receive my food. Granted, I ordered the croquettes after the sandwich...but lawddddddddddd it took longer than expected. Nevertheless.... 5 stars for excellent customer service! Julio the owner of Trigo Cafe greeted me as soon as I walked in. Hannah, my waiter was excellent throughout my stay! I'm so happy a place like this exists in Hialeah. I will definitely be coming here often. The prices are ridiculously cheap for the quality presented in all their meals. Everything is made fresh to order. The restaurant itself is clean, fresh, new, and very modern. I start off by ordering "Rosita" (I can't believe they have this beer). Rosita is a Blond Ale Brewed in Honey. The first time I was introduced to "Rosita" was during the Sprung Spring Beer Fest in Wynwood. The Rosita was served with grape fruit and it was just perfect. I fell in love with Rosita and now they have it at Trigo Cafe (I can have it whenever). The bacalao croquetas are delicious! The ham croquetas are ok. Not the best but they weren't bad. I've had the Albacore Sandwich (tuna sandwich) and the Pan Con Lechon. Both are very good but prefer the Albacore out of the two. Everyone must try the Bonbon! It's basically Cuban coffee with condensed milk. The perfect treat after your meal. There's big plans for Trigo Cafe so stay tuned for updates from Julio the owner. This area needed a place like this. Has your basic Cuban sandwiches, media noches, and café con leche, but also offers manchego, chorizó croquetas, huevos estrellados, and a Monte Cristo sándwich. They also have the famous Isla Canarias croquetas which you can never go wrong with. Service was quick, and the restaurant clean. Expect a short wait as the place is tiny but well worth it. After seeing the Miami Lakes cows upon leaving my office yesterday, I was fiending for a good hamburger (and the fact that I wanted a solid meal) and checked in at Trigo. Located next to a funeral home, your hunger WILL be buried! Set up with the classic Cuban cafeteria counter as well as a couple of sit down tables, it's reminiscent of the old school Hialeah restaurants. Start off like I did with their thin-cut, just crispy sweet potato fries (they have regular ones as well as yucca). The fries aren't overly greasy and have the sweet taste of the potato. Next up was their "49 St. Burger". Let me tell you about the 49 St Burger: a nice juicy piece of beef, bacon and cheddar cheese served with any style (runny in my case) egg. Our parents would have called it "Bistec a Caballo" and I call it delicious. It was definitely filling. Still and all I left space for their soft, jiggly and creamy flan ( I had to). The cafeteria is family owned, and all the employees were attentive checking on me and the other patrons. I'm planning to come back for their chicken sandwiches (that's right they have two types) before awarding a certain fifth star! read more
