I got my eyebrows waxed for a vacation I was going on, and was super excited to try Trim. When I got there, I had to wait 15 minutes past my appointment, but I wasn't in a rush so I didn't mind. Waiting in the front room is almost awkward, super silent and the lady working the front didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I went back to get my brows waxed, and I was out super quickly, under 5 minutes. I was impressed! Until I went home and actually looked into a mirror at what was done. I had to go over and tweeze BOTH eyebrows to get the stray hairs, and this is not just because I like my eyebrows shaped differently, there were full hairs at the top of my eyebrow that were clearly missed. If I'm paying $25 for an eyebrow wax, I'm expecting to not have to do 'damage control'. It was terrible. I had a better wax at Be Polished Salon down the street for less than $10. read more

What a great experience I had at Trim! this little waxing boutique is now going to become my regular salon for brazilians- it's just so damn fun going there! the salon itself is like a girls paradise-cute pinup girl themed decor, and an array of fun girly products and panties and jewelry. The receptionists are amazing and squeezed my appointment in the day I called- that is a miracle in the salon world! my technician did an amazing job as well and was so cool and friendly, it was actually an enjoyable service- and I was getting a Brazilian. This speaks volumes:) The service itself was an enjoyable experience, although I have had brazilians that I felt were a bit more thorough. She did a pretty good job tho overall and personally I would rather a few missed hairs and a relaxing, and comfortable appointment versus a flawless yet painfully long and miserable experience. It's a choice I am very okay making.and I'm a really low key wax client, so Im sure if I asked for my aesthetician to go over a few missed spots, she would have happily done so. Nothing bugs me like a eye brow wax that lasts more than 15 minutes. Maybe I expect too much from people, but getting your hair ripped out is no fun, and being waxed and then plucked into oblivion is annoying. Do it fast, do it right, and get me out of there!!! I was scheduled at 11am - showed up 2 minutes late, filled out first timers' paperwork, used their restroom, got the best brow wax of my life, and was out by 11:14am. What a total disappointment. I was really looking forward to coming here, especially b/c it is a salon that specializes in waxing only, and had many great reviews here. Sadly, this was the worst Brazillian wax I've ever had. The woman that waxed me was really, very nice, but her technique just didn't work for me. If I'm paying $60 to get my hair ripped out, I'd like it to all be gone when it's done, in as few strokes possible. I felt like I was there for-ev-er, and when I got home, I had SO many STRAYS! Not to mention, I had hair growing back within 2 days b/c her technique didn't pull the hair out, it just broke it off. For $60!?!? I've been here a couple of times now for what I call "Womanscaping Wednesdays", which falls on the first Wed. of every month. I'm not reviewing below the belly button waxing, mind you, but arm waxing. Collect yourself. I know it sounds strange, but after the "culmination of every man I've ever despised" ex-boyfriend told me I have hairy arms "for a blonde"... well, I've developed a bit of a complex. I don't do it all the time, but summer months always enhance this woeful insecurity of mine. But I digress... anyway, the lovely ladies of Trim are professional and meticulous estheticians. The atmosphere is as relaxing as can be, considering that you know, and they know, that they're about to rip every hair out of said follicles. But it's all very bearable. Clench your teeth and dig your fingernails into the palm of your hands and it'll be a breeze, honey. In the end, your skin will feel as smooth as a baby's bottom... and for 4 weeks. Half of an arm (which unless you're really hairy is all you'll need) will set you back $20. You can buy a Brazilian for $55 (sorry, Gisele not included). read more

Chad is an amazing human being! Because of him I can now say that the best Brazilian wax I've ever gotten was from a male. I booked a wax the week of the Fourth of July; it had to be after work, so I didn't really care which esthetician did my Brazilian as long as I could get the time I wanted. I ended up with Chad and I couldn't be happier! He is super meticulous and his tweezer game is A+. Unless I move away from Chicago, I will literally never get waxed by anyone else. Everything was great once I finished my wax, but people are not allowed to have nice things, so of course the receptionist was an awful person. She gave me a really hard time when I was trying to pay. My boyfriend was treating me to a wax so I was paying with his card and she acted like I was trying to commit fraud - it was really confusing. She made me call him about 10x (he was working and didn't pick up), and when I couldn't reach him she made me stand there awkwardly for 10 minutes while she held his credit card hostage. After all of that, she told me she couldn't run the card because "it's just for such a large amount," which was even more bonkers because that was the third different excuse she gave for not allowing me to pay. After literally being held against my will (hahaha, but really though) for 15 minutes by the receptionist, she tried to force me to pay with the card I booked the appointment with. She only knew that card number because Trim's system makes you enter it in order to book appointments online. I should be able to pay with whatever card I want, but obviously that was not the receptionist's policy. Maybe she didn't like Chad and didn't want him to get paid? (His tip was included in my payment). Or maybe she just thought I couldn't afford $100 without committing credit card fraud? No clue. But it was pretty embarrassing, especially because there was another customer sitting there and the receptionist was acting like my card got declined. Usually situations like that would turn me off and I'd go find another place to get waxed. Chad, however, is a God among men, and is the only reason I'll return to Trim. I'll just bring cash next time, and hopefully the receptionist will let me pay with it without calling in the U.S. Treasury to make sure I'm not using counterfeit bills. read more

I have had a fabulous "travel agent" (aka aesthetician) for years, but I wanted someone closer to home and with more convenient hours, so I decided to give Trim a whirl after reading the reviews of some of my friends whose opinions I trust. I called this morning and was able to score an evening appointment with Simona. She was very quick and pretty painless (I know some women argue differently, but with a skilled aesthetician, it does not have to be painful) and I felt completely comfortable with her. The price for the custom itinerary was fantastically competitive as well, less than I expected. The only negative comment I have was that the tp in the bathroom was rough. Seriously, charge me $.50 more and buy some soft stuff, we aren't really in Brazil... Unfortunately, Simona is going on maternity leave in about a month, but I will definitely go back and try another aesthetician. read more

Desiree is the absolute best. My previous chick moved, so I had to find a new place. I read the reviews on this place and figured why not. I called at 2:30pm needing to get in for that night, and they fit me in without a problem at all. The chick at the front desk was super nice, and Desiree was awesome. Getting my crotch waxed ins't my favorite thing in the world to do, but no pain no gain? Right? Anyways, Desiree was AWESOME. It was by far the LEAST painful wax I have ever had. Lets face it, it's going to hurt, but there's pain, and there's PAIN. I had the pain in lowercase letters, not uppercase. She talks through the entire process, which takes your mind off it, and she's incredibly nice. The price is about average (my full brazilian cost me 55 plus tip), but it's worth it. WELL worth it. ----------------- PROS: Close to the red line, close to numerous bars if the pain really gets unbearable, hip/trendy decor, nice staff and BLUE WAX! (who doesn't love bright blue wax?!) Flexible schedule. They can usually fit you in for a last second appointment. CONS: I can only think of one: That the way the rooms are designed has you laying on a table RIGHT in front of the door. But lets face it, if you're getting a Brazilian bikini wax, you're probably not THAT self conscious, right?! (this didn't take any stars away in my opinion but it might in some) Finally, they're open LATE. Until 9pm, and in June they start being open until 10pm, HUGE plus for me since I work late a lot. read more

After a horrible experience at a different Chicago salon, I came to Trim in need of creating a new, more pleasant experience. I definitely came to the right place. Trim is one of those waxing boutiques that ONLY specializes in waxing -- so you're not dealing with amateur waxers who randomly do other salon services too. FYI, Trim has two locations: one in Lincoln Park and one in Wicker Park. I didn't know this prior to scheduling my appointment, so I may check out the Wicker Park location as I've heard their waxers are THE BUSINESS! I made an appointment with Beth based on the rave reviews she's received over the years, I'd definitely recommend her -- she's confident in her abilities, knowledgeable about her products and asks questions when she's hesitant about anything -- all in all, she's serious about her work and your skin. Beth's really friendly too, we had a long conversation about different topics which made the service go by faster. Upon arriving I explained to her that I had a horrible experience about 6 weeks prior and that I only wanted hard wax used on my skin. She honored my request but asked necessary questions. She informed me that using soft wax helps get rid of stray hairs (although I've had other waxers who've been able to do my whole service only using hard wax and not leaving one single stray hair - shout out to Urbanwaxx in Portland, OR!) Overall the service was a pleasant as a Brazilian wax can be. I'm a Brazilian veteran, so I know what to expect (except when dealing with waxers who have other priorities other than caring for my skin pre and post wax, UGH!). The service DID take longer than I expected. I was in there for about 45 minutes, which is honestly, the longest I've ever been serviced. However, Beth pays serious attention to detail, so the 45 minutes wasn't spent bearing my hair being ripped out repeatedly, just her making sure I left smooth as ever, and I got exactly what I paid for. read more

I just moved back to Chicago. I get Brazilian wax's on a regular basis but I have very sensitive skin. Usually wherever I go, no matter the wax they use or the place, i get a reaction. I went to trim and it was amazing service! It did not hurt at all, it was super fast and everyone was so nice! I wanted to use the 50% off check in offer on yelp but I came on Sunday and the offer is only valid on weekdays. The woman at the front desk still gave me 10% off which was so nice. The bomb. I almost want to downgrade my review for other waxing establishments because now that I've been here, I have a new threshold for greatness. Becky did my Brazilian wax - she was friendly and professional and made funny small talk throughout to put me at ease. She was fast and thorough and I kid you not - remarkably light on the pain. Now to be fair, I hadn't shaved since my last wax. When you don't shave, and you only wax, the hair is more sparse and less coarse. So that might've had something to do with it. But Becky had a really gentle touch and a light pull on the waxing strip. After her first swipe, I was like - how is it POSSIBLE that I felt so little pain? I've been to Wax by Eva before, which I loved, but this was like....half the pain. Just as smooth, no ingrown hairs, more modern and stylish salon, much friendlier waxer! $55, but you get 10% off if you check in on Yelp and it's your first time. They also are a Belly card business. I was a bit nervous to get waxed for the first time, but a co-workers is a technician and assured me it wasn't all painful as many say it to be. So I finally decided to make an appointment. I was met by the woman at the desk who was very welcoming. Shortly after I filled out the initial new client sheet, I was met by my technician Beth. We discussed the kind of waxing services I wanted to get done, as this was my first time and didn't know all the things available. She then escorted me to one of the back rooms and directed me to undress from the waist below. I did so, and she knocked asking if I was ready. Throughout the whole process, Beth talked with me and the appointment went by quickly. She answered all my questions and described the process for me as I was new. I loved how she did my butt for the Brazilian as well. I didn't have to hold my butt or stretch in a strange way. I just laid on my belly, and away my hair went. After the quick appointment (The Brazilian was no longer than 30 minutes), I was greeted by the hostess and she went over the after care information and offered me some samples of some of the products they had in stock. First of all, the salon is really pretty, cute, and feminine. I appreciate the privacy of the salon itself as well as the online booking system. Like many here, I have been waxing for years. It pained me to leave my amazing place in Houston where everything was always perfect (although quite expensive). That being said, I've been seeing Desiree (4 times now) and I have no major complaints. She is quick and painless. She is not 100% perfect (I'd put her at 95%), because she doesn't spend 15-20 minutes tweezing every last hair like my old place would.. but honestly I'd be silly to expect that. Also I'd like to add the package of 6 brings the cost of waxing way down (to something like $40 per).. they are very affordable if you know you will be coming back and decide to pay in advance. read more

I used to love this place. If a favorite girl wasn't avail then usually everyone was good. That's until I saw Chad, and he hacked at my beautiful full brows. I am now in the process of growing out my brows and it should take 6 months to get them how they used to be. I don't really want to come back bc it is out of the way, and the place has lost that touch for me. When someone says they like full brows... do not add your own arch and then thin them by half. I came here for my first brazilian and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be! The staff made me feel very comfortable right from the start. I can't remember the name of the girl that did my wax (sorry!) but she was so nice and very gentle. Of course it hurt, but she did everything she could to make it as quick and low stress as possible. The results were fantastic. The decor is adorable and feminine and I love that they keep it WARM! As someone who always runs cold, I was extremely grateful that I could take my pants off without freezing. The prices seem on par with other places, and even if they are on the pricey side, I think it's worth it when you're talking about hot wax on your lady bits. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

This place has a lot going for it. While it is costly, it is not insanely expensive by any means. The place is VERY nice and the little rooms they have for waxing are adorable. The place is extremely clean. The girls know exactly what they are doing. I had Cassie for a Brazilian, lower leg, and brow wax. The Brazilian was completely on point and I was left baby-smooth with a very fast wax. She used part soft wax and part hard wax, which I liked because it worked and it showed she was paying attention. She was completely un-weird about it, and since I've been doing it so long I no longer have any shame, I really appreciate that because when you're less awkward about it than your waxer is, it kind of makes you feel like a creep. I really liked her demeanor. The whole thing was over in a few minutes. She did a REALLY fabulous job on my brows outside in the little salon-style chairs. They had a perfect shape and looked extremely clean when she finished, which is not typical for when I get my brows waxed. Also, I usually break out after having my brows waxed and this time I didn't at all - another testament to their cleanliness. Overall the whole thing cost me slightly over $100, which is truly not that much for all three services in this area. Win. I definitely plan on going back to Trim, and I'm debating whether I want to continue my quest to have tried every waxing place in existence or just stay loyal to Trim. read more

Ok, so as far as speed, convenience, and efficiency goes, this place is tops. For me, it's within walking distance, I've never had a problem getting a same-day appointment (even within the same hour sometimes), and you can literally walk in/get a brazilian/walk out within 10 minutes. The girls are fast, friendly, and chatty, and almost assembly-line methodical. But that's all it is: you walk in the door, take a quick glance at the panties and lotions, drop trou and get waxed, then walk out the door. It's fantastic when I want a wax in a hurry, but I haven't found an aesthetician that I absolutely love, or who specifically told me how to care for my skin, or who makes the experience phenomenally painless. And because the girls get the job done so quickly, there's little to say about how fabulous it's done. I mean, it's fine, I could deal with a few stray hairs, but I am paying them to pull them out. The place is clean and cute, the girls are efficient, and the prices are probably average. Great when you're in a hurry for a wax, but there are better aestheticians out there who pay more attention to detail. read more

I had an amazing experience here! I have been getting waxes for over 10 years now at all kinds of places and this is by far the best experience I have ever had. I had my service done by Abigail and it barely hurt. It's funny that I thought this too because whenever I talk about waxing I always say "no matter how long you do it, it will never hurt less." BUT, after going here, I have to disagree with myself! It's clean, the staff is friendly, and they have a lot of cute little products you can parooze while waiting. I stopped into Trim today after checking out the reviews on Yelp. I'm an out-of-towner, a Pacific Northwest girl traveling back from Trinidad and Tobago by way of Chicago. Seeing that I've been out of the country for awhile, I wanted to *ahem* take care of some business before I got home. I called in, and young woman on the phone was very friendly and helpful. She booked me for an appointment an hour later. Trim itself is an adorable salon, and the atmosphere definitely complements the service. My aesthetician (Ana if I'm remembering correctly, but I could be wrong--I hadn't had enough coffee!) was absolutely amazing. I got both a Brazilian and an upper lip wax, and I was very impressed with her care and technique. Additionally, she was super-nice. I made an appointment for a brazilian on a weeknight at 8 PM. It was my first ever, so of course I was nervous...I usually have a fair tolerance for pain, but I've heard some horror stories. Becky was my esthetician, and she was awesome! First of all, 8 PM on a weeknight after seeing probably a dozen hairy body parts before mine might wear someone out. But she was great and had a lot of energy. She kept me laughing throughout the process and always asked, "Are you okay?" when she noticed me wincing. She was extremely thorough and even gave me a sucker at the end for getting through my first brazilian. Kind of like when the doctor gives a 2 year old candy after a shot! Horrible customer service from front desk, from booking my appointment on the phone, to the salon not being opened for my morning appointment, to check out. Went in for my first Brazilian wax I was excited to try a new service with Trim and what drew me in was the chance to use the yelp 50% only to find out that they offer had "expired" (which is not indicated anyone) and that it was only valid for first time client (again not clearly stated anywhere). Talked with the front desk about about it and explained to her that it is clearly stated anywhere that it should be honored becuase of this but she was too busy on her phone looking at facebook to even listen to my concerns. Front desk is the face of your business and this person needs to be trained in customer service. I expect to atleast be looked at when I am speaking to them. Service was okay. I had requested the use of hard wax and was told that couldn't be done which I have had it done at other salons. Was shocked that a waxing salon would deny a request for a type of wax/state they didn't have it. Not the cleanest environment inside the treatment rooms. Wax all over the walls that have not been cleaned in who know how long. Bathroom wasn't clean either. Overall I would not recommend this location for services. From the customer service, to the front desk, to the overall environment my experience was was not the greatest and it easily could have been. read more

Before heading out of town for Christmas, I was in much need of a simple eyebrow maintenance/arch/waxwatchamacalit. Trim to the rescue. I had been to the other location before and had been meaning to give this one a try for awhile now. I was able to book an eyebrow wax appointment in about 24+ hours before appointment. Sounds easy peasy, right? It was! I actually showed up three minutes late but no worries. The woman (name escapes me) did a great job on my arches (not too much - just right) and did some minor tweezing and waxing here and there. After wards, she offered to fill in the brows. I liked the pencil she used to fill in, so she then showed me where they sell them at the front of the store. Trim earned some stars from me for being able to fit me in on such notice. One errand down and I had many more to go. Now all I have to do is remember to keep this place as one of my top waxing places. read more

My waxer was very, very nice. And the waxing hardly hurt at all, I can say that honestly. But I don't think that the employees here are very educated about skin conditions and/or sensitive skin. I've been seeing the same waxer in the suburbs for years, and she knew what my skin condition was, knew the medicines, and knew how it would change my waxing experience. She knew what she could and couldn't use on my face, and has even invested in some new products that help sensitive skin (presumably not just for me). And Trim? Just....clueless. The only thing they had to remove wax residue was witch hazel, which I can't use. They didn't know what my skin condition was, had never heard of the medicine, and seemed slightly at sea with the whole thing. But my eyebrows look great, and I think that if you've got normal skin, you should feel free to go here. If I didn't have issues, I'd give this place 5 stars. But I feel like there are a lot of women out there who might need to know that if you've got problem skin, this just won't work for you. Back to the suburbs I go. read more

I had a delightful eyebrow wax at Trim...however it is a little different than your average waxing salon. Firstly, you are not taken to a room. Eyebrow waxes are done in a chair (think a reclining dentist chair) and your wax will be seen by passerby's outside. Many people would have no qualms about this; I found it a little odd. Also, unlike many waxing places I was able to get a walk-in appt. I really appreciate when spas/salons are able to accept walk-ins. Trim was really accomodating and accepted my friend and I as walk-ins on a late Saturday afternoon. The eyebrow wax was really good, and I left happy. read more

I've been going to Trim for over 2 years but this was the first experience I've had where I felt so compelled to write them a stellar review. I always go to Trim on Milwaukee Ave and had made an appointment for the next day's afternoon, but because of a scheduling snafu (on my part) I needed to squeeze in a wax ASAP. I was close to the Lincoln Park neighborhood and called Trim saying I had an appointment tomorrow but was hoping they could squeeze me in for a Brazilian in the next 30 minutes. The girl on the phone sounded a little concerned at first that I wouldn't make it there on time, but she obliged and said they had an opening in twenty minutes. I miraculously arrived on time where I was greeted by Becky. Let me just say that Becky is an absolutely, wonderfully sweet individual and is basically the reason I felt such a strong need to write this review. I've gotten many a Brazilian wax in my day, but this is honestly the first one ever that was virtuously painless. I have always believed people were full of shit when they would write reviews about that, but I'm being serious. Becky was great! She was friendly and talkative, which I found to be a delight, and she also took her time, a major deviation from other estheticians I've encountered. She did a wonderful job leaving essentially no stragglers to be reckoned with, gave me some suggestions on future care, and sent me on my way with her business card and no painful reminders of what just occurred. I'm literally obsessed with Taylor- she's the best. I gladly make the trip from West Loop to Lincoln Park just to go to Trim. There may be closer studios but they wouldn't be able to touch the level of service I receive at Trim. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I used to go to the Trim in Bucktown, but we have since moved to Lakeview. I debated just finding a way to still get to the Bucktown location, because I didn't think I would find anyone else that could do as good of a job as my girls over there did. But then thought, why the ef would I go to Bucktown when I live 3 blocks from the one off Lincoln? No time to blow money on cabs in this economy... Then I found Marta!!! :) I have always insisted that the girl tell me before she pulls so I could hold my breath...it seemed to be the only way I could get through it. WELL Marta "forgot" to tell me the first few times, but kept the conversation going so well that I was actually fine with her not telling me. I have had many girls try that with no success. First time ever. Granted it still hurt, but I can honestly say in the few years I've been doing brazilian waxes, hers was the LEAST painful and FASTEST i've ever seen. I'll bet I wasn't in there longer than 15 minutes max...No joke girls... I will go back to her EVERYtime. Fabulous, just fabulous. And on top of it, they have the cutest accessories in that store. I walked out with a brazilian, a pair of earrings, new cute boy shorts, a moisturizer candle, and cherry colored lip gloss. OH! And the receptionist was sweet as pie! She didn't try to push products on me, but would come over by me if I had questions about anything! She was a doll... Holla! read more
