Stopped in to grab myself a cannoli and it was fantastic. The cream was the perfect consistency and just the right amount of sweetness. Nothing fancy in this - just plain cream. I would like to give 5 stars for the product, presentation, super friendly staff but unfortunately I was pretty grossed out by the number of flies in the cookie display. I counted 6 stuck inside on the glass with two more walking across the food. I truly wanted to walk out but it was too late - the chilled cannoli was in the bag and being rung up. read more

I was starting to prep for my holiday baking and decided that I wanted try and make cannolis. I talked to a friend who makes her own and she said "Here is my recipe, but seriously, just save yourself the time and go to Tringali's. They sell Cannoli kits!" So I ventured over and it was the best idea ever! I bought one small kit for Thanksgiving. 12 small shells, filling, powdered sugar, and chopped/crushed nuts, and a piping bag to fill the shells! LOVED it! I called before I went and asked how long the kit would keep to be sure I wasn't buying them too far in advance. Staff was very friendly and the cannoli was great! Everyone liked the small size better than the full size ( just easier to eat, and you can have a nibble without feeling too guilty!) so I ended up buying more kits for Christmas! I also bought some fresh bread while I was there and it was wonderful. Eventually I will learn how to make my own cannoli, but this was MUCH easier and faster!! read more

I've driven by here for a few years now and thinking my girlfriend might like this place we stopped. Unbelievable. Walking in there are a few freezers, few racks full of Italian staples, small wine area, a meat and cheese counter and.....drum roll!!! An impressive and large array of desserts. The left counter side displays smaller bite-size cookies and macaroons. I'm guessing around 30 different options for 9.99 per lb. The right side appears to be the big boy and girl section. cannolis and mini cannolis, paczki like doughnuts filled with cannoli cream. doughnuts, fig desserts, danishes...I can keep going. We got a sample box with a bit of everything for around $12. All I wanted was the paczki and it might have been one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. There is a sugary crispness on the outer shell and chocolate chip cannoli filling inside, and they don't skimp on the amount of filling but it isn't too much. The employees are beyond friendly and helpful. Telling us to be careful during our first bad weather day of the winter season and letting us try one or two items. Really awesome place. read more

Picked up a couple of Edise to go which I now understand is a local favorite and I can see why. It's a a deep fried doughnut-like pastry of sweet dough with a crusty exterior filled with cannoli cream. My sister is going to get her cake, but I'm sold on the Edise alone. I almost don't want to write about how good they are in fear that they will run out of their amazing canolis when I want to go. I haven't gotten anything from Tringali that I didn't love. My go to's are the chocolate dipped canolis and a sfogliateli (no idea how to spell it, it's flaky, sweet, and filled with canoli cream). But everything else I've tried has also been amazing. They have every pastry and cookie you could think of as well as fresh bread and a small grocery store. I go out of my way to stop by. It's a great way to surprise family with a sweet treat as well! I believe they have been in business for quite sometime, and if they keep doing what they're doing they are going to stay in business for a long time! If you're in the area, need treats for the office, a cassata cake, sweets to get yourself out of the doghouse, anything at all, they are amazing. This is a wonderful bakery with a bit of everything from breads to cannoli. I bought a small cannoli which had a great crunchiness to it and the cream filling (not ricotta) was firm and sweet. Learning they make their own biscotti, I ordered some chocolate cappuccino ones. I tried one (without coffee) and it was spot on! Cant wait to dunk one later in coffee. I also got Calabrese bread and am eager to try it. They have donuts and other pasties along with pizza dough. My only complaint is that I live too far away to visit more often. When I purchased my home a few years ago the previous owner told me that I just had a get a cannoli from Tringali's. Well, about 6 months ago I found my way into the store. Oh, my yummy the cannoli's are out of this world. They're so fresh and light and airy. Also, my daughter fell in love with the homemade bread. They even slice it for you. Now, I go in here for all holidays and take the cannoli kit home so we can have fresh cannoli's for all of our special events. On our way out of Detroit, the boyfriend made us drive to this bakery. He told me all about the cannolis and how they were the best in Detroit. I would have to say he was right. The cannolis were amazing and worth the drive. However, since it is a bakery with other options, I ordered other things. I ordered a creme puff, which was amazing. I was disappointed in myself for ordering only one. I ordered a peach pastry, which had rum in it. I thought it was a great idea until I tasted it. I did not like it at all and threw it away. Years ago I ordered a traditional Cassata cake from Tringali's and it was one of the best cakes I've ever had. Fast forward to this last Christmas and I ordered the exact cake but this time it was just okay. The cake was good but the frosting was pure sugar! It tasted like a store bought Meijer's Italian cake at three times the price. The woman at the counter also told me their Cassata Cakes and Cannoli's were NOT made with Ricotta cheese. What is the reason for not using Ricotta cheese? That's like making pizza using white American Cheese instead of Mozzarella. Here is the definition of Cassata Cake...."Cassata or cassata siciliana is a traditional sweet from Sicily, Italy. Cassata consists of round sponge cake moistened with fruit juices or liqueur and layered with Ricotta Cheese and candied fruit, a filling also used with cannoli." Last week I bought a Cassata cake from Cantoro Italian Market Baking Company in Plymouth, MI and it was incredibly delicious. I asked the girl behind the counter if their Cassata cakes were made with liqueur and Ricotta Cheese and she said "yes, aren't they supposed to be?" Tringali's, I challenge you to a blind taste test between your Cassata Cake and Cantoro's Cake to decide which one tastes better. Stop using cheaper alternatives and charging a premium and start using traditional proven ingredients! read more

Went into Tringalis yesterday for the first time! I had grabbed some items and went up to the counter where Maureen was checking out customers. I had picked some items out and then told her it was my first time visiting and she very cheerfully said "why didn't you tell me that first!" She proceeded to tell me all of her favorites and asked me questions about what I like to find some yummy treats to bring home. The desserts were absolutely FANTASTIC! You took the order...even made us pay $27.50 IN ADVANCE....yet....when we showed up to pick it up...you somehow "forgot" to bake it...forgot.....then giggled about forgetting, like it was no big deal, and made us settle for a bumpy cake you happened to have instead....and then balked at having to write "Happy Birthday John" on top... "it's kinda hard to write on a bumpy cake". This is unacceptable...hell, if we wanted a bumpy cake we would have gone to Sam's or Costco for a Bill Knapps bumpy cake...we wanted a birthday cake...a special cake for a special person who happens to turn 65 this year, having survived a cancer diagnosis 5 years ago and wasn't expected to even be here THIS long...and you screwed it up..you had one job.... and screwed it up....a big thanks and shout out to Tringali's Bakery....well done friends...well done. I wish I could give this place a good review but I can't do such a thing with a dishonest business such as this. I applaud any business who can mark up goods 2x what they pay for them and have customers willing to pay for those goods, however that's not the only thing Tringali's Bakery does. Today was my second time visiting Tringali in a year, thinking they perhaps had changed their ways. They charge approximately $3.50 more for "IMPORTED" (NOT) Provolone than they do for their "DOMESTIC PROVOLONE." Well folks, I'm sorry to break it to you but the Domestic is hand written and marked as such and the so called imported, bears a label with an Italian flag....so that must mean it's imported right? So this is the second time I have brought this to their attention. They are pawning off to many customers, BEL GIOSO Provolone which is MADE IN WISCONSIN, and not only telling customers for who knows how long, but also charging you $3.50 more for it. One lady who was very nice in helping me brought it to the attention of an employee who had been working there longer and she came up with all kinds of excuses. "The labels are switched." "The imported must be gone." "They [Bel Gioso] import the cheese from Italy and then label it." Oh and here is one better, they were calling it Bellagio cheese...lol. I asked them politely to read the label that clearly states where it is made and they still would not take fault. Then, the owner got involved...she tried stating the same thing. Telling one lie after another and then ended it with putting the blame on Bel Gioso and stated she would call them...yeah right. Not one single person in the building could simply admit that for years they have been charging people a premium for another brand of domestic cheese. And again, this one was my second attempt to try to give them the benefit of the doubt because the last time I was in, I didn't press the subject and they simply stated they are out of the imported. I let it go. Don't take anything for face value. Buyer beware. read more

Mixed review here. The canolis & eclairs are very good. Frozen cheesecake great also, but I wish it was fresh. The staff is not friendly at all. The make sarcastic remarks & act like they hate their job. We walked in 10 min before closing & one last says Very Loudly " can't we lock the doors already" with a big sigh. Oh my lord!!! Excellent cannoli! Excellent bread! The store is very clean and has friendly staff. They sell dry pasta, dry goods, wine, homemade pastries and breads. Prices were very fair for the quality of food that they have. Everything was well made and displayed with care. We've seen italian bakeries in NYC and Tringali's bakery is as good as if maybe better than them! At a funeral reception this weekend I mentioned Tringalis and more than one person got excited saying they love this place. One lady said she can't drive by without stopping. Definitely a hidden gem! i will be buying pastries here every time I visit home. read more

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CANNOLI ANYWHERE. Oh Tringali's, you are my favorite Italian bakery ever. Maybe it's because my grandmother/family has been purchasing cannoli's here for the last 25+ years, or maybe it's the cassata cake, or maybe the old ladies that work here who may not be the friendliest but somehow make the place feel more authentic. They sell nearly the full line of the local frozen ravioli brand (pieroni, perhaps? Oh, I'm going down for not remembering that) and have a very good selection of italian meats and cheeses at their deli counter. They even sell us the cannoli shells and the cream separately so we can fill them ourselves right before serving to avoid limp dessert. You're not the greatest as far as customer service, Tringali's, but I still love ya. read more

Wow. I'm not easily impressed with bakeries, but I admire places that have been around forever, aren't modernized, but instead focus on the product instead of the aesthetics. From the outside, this place looks like a run-down remnant that is clinging on. Walk inside, and you can tell this is a place that has stood the test of time. I didn't even know about this place and just had to stop in for cannoli shells. But I ended up walking out with a loaf of bread, ate a pepperoni calzone while checking out, and eyed up what I was going to pick up when I came in next time. The workers were very nice. The shelves, although old, were clean and organized. The pastries weren't overpriced and, from what I've tasted, very good.
