We were selling our house and entered into a contract with a buyer who ordered a pest inspection. The inspection report was absolutely over the top, and the estimated repair costs were outrageous. One example? We have a brand-new, fully permitted, and county-inspected roof--it passed multiple inspections, and the final permit was signed off by the county with no issues whatsoever. Yet, the inspector insisted that the roof needed to be torn apart to fix a couple of tiny spots of dry rot, each about the size of a quarter. It was purely surface-level--nothing more than a bit of surface distressing that just needed a little scraping, treatment, and a coat of paint. The surrounding wood was solid and in good condition, but their solution was to tear up the new roof, "attempt" the repair, and then try to put it back together. Even more shocking, their proposal stated that if they couldn't put the roof back properly, it would be our responsibility--the homeowner's--to pay for the repairs. Buried in the fine print was this little gem: "If we damage the roof during repairs, it is the owner's responsibility to replace it." This is a $15,000 brand-new roof, and they were suggesting it could be completely ruined--and left to us to fix--over some tiny spots of dry rot that could have been handled with basic maintenance. The whole approach felt careless and completely unreasonable. To make matters worse, my husband is a contractor and immediately pointed out that it would be impossible for the roof to be "reset" properly after being torn up like that. For them to imply that they would "try" is absolutely absurd. Allowing them to do the repair would have easily cost us thousands of dollars. Thanks to their ridiculous report and inflated repair suggestions, the buyer ended up backing out of the sale entirely. read more

Writing poor reviews is not my style, typically, and I even slept on it to make sure it was the right thing to do, and it certainly is. Before I begin, I need to insert an important caveat...this review does not at all comment on the quality of their insect pest abatement abilities, so if you have already got them coming out with a confirmed appointment, you may be golden...I can't attest to whether that is good or bad. What I can tell is my story and let you decide whether you want to trust them if you have a similar situation. During the sale of my house, the buyer had Trinity conduct a pest inspection. In the report, they identified 3 areas of dry rot, one of which was divided into 3 locations. I had already repaired 2 of those 3 spots. Along with the inspection was a bid by Trinity to repair/replace the dry rot...a bid which I thought was overpriced and I didn't like the idea of the inspector being the one who both generated the work and did the job. I learned, however, that this is business as usual for pest inspections, so after due diligence with having my handyman visually verify 2 of the 3 main areas, since I had by then left the area and with escrow closing only a few weeks away, and since Trinity would agree to be paid at the close of escrow instead of up front, I accepted the bid, only asking that I not be charged for the repair that had already been done. I received no word about progress for a week, so I called and got a voicemail only. I left a message saying I needed a response for my comment about the areas already repaired, that I wondered if the work had been done, and to please call. No response. Waited, repeated, no response. At the same time, I was attempting to get documents from the realtor about this same issue and not getting a response. Cut to yesterday, when escrow was scheduled to close. I have no revised bid, no receipt, no verification of work done, so I call again. Wendy (the only good thing about this business) listens to my story, finds my fax, then, obviously a little nervous, puts me on hold while she assesses the situation. Soon I am speaking to a man who does not identify himself. He tells me that THE WORK HAS NOT BEEN, AND IS NOWHERE NEAR BEING DONE!!! He says they are "swamped" and that any progress is "weeks out". I ask about the price reduction for the portion of the work that was done already, and he forcefully and rudely says "that's not gonna happen" and that he "can't even start his truck for that". I was asking for a $600 reduction on a $2000 job. I told him there needed to be some reduction or the job may not even happen. "Not gonna happen," he repeated, still extremely rude in his demeanor. I said I would have to call back and we hung up. After verifying my rights as the one paying the bill for unrequired repairs, I called back. He answered, and I told him I was canceling the job. So let me start by telling you about the situation I was in because I think for someone searching for a reputable company to do similar work it will help to know. I bought a house AS-IS the house was built in 1953 and had been a rental for the past twenty years so I knew issues were present. Steve from Trinity came out and inspected and gave me a report that showed wood beetle damage and some dry rot damage due to the lack of property maintenance. I called Trinity once I had the keys and made arrangements to get the work done before I moved in. They managed to work me into the schedule quickly and started working on my house right away. I was living at my old house in Jones valley and was very hard to reach at times due to lack of cell signal and internet where I was moving from. They were very patient and understanding. The three gentlemen that came to work on my house Jimmy, Willie and Forrest worked hard, were always polite and never complained about my overly affectionate Rack Russell Terrier getting in their way. They worked quickly and kept me informed when additional issues were found and showed me the issues and discussed my options to fix them. Ultimately they cleared my pest problem and repaired all the damaged structure and even installed two new doors for me after I asked them if they could since we needed repairs around those doors. One more thing I want to mention is the contract that they sent me. It's worded according to state regulations but not knowing this when I read it I felt vulnerable to being stuck with possible subcontractor bills. I felt this way due to the way the state required wording is done. The folks at Trinity Termite and Pest Control do their own work. No subcontractor to worry about not being paid by them. I was told that if a subcontractor had to be called in for some reason the customer would be notified, I was also told this would be rare if ever needed. My experience with the folks at Trinity Termite was a pleasant one. I would recommend them to anyone needing pest control. Their guys Jimmy, Willie and Forrest worked so hard to make sure all the work was done right, looked good and worked as fast as they could ultimately saving me several hundred dollars below the estimate they had originally gave me and more importantly I feel I got what I paid for. read more

So not only does the inspector arrive late but when he is walking around the house he isn't looking for any pests at all, that is a whole other inspection that you have to pay for even though it says " pest inspection" then whilst he is going through the house he is poking holes with his metal rod so that if you do buy the house then you have to patch up a million holes. Then after the inspection is done he demands "150$" by slurring it and saying one fiddy. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful towards the client. read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had in any business dealing EVER. I was selling my home and Trinity did a pest inspection and gave me a repair estimate. The loan ended up not going through so it did not go any further with them at this time. I had another company come in a month later and found much more damage than Trinity did so I contacted them to see how they missed the findings in the second report. They promised to look over the new estimate and give me an explanation. Weeks went by and there was no contact so my realtor got a hold of them and they said they would come do the work and gave us a start date and price. The owner called at 4:00 PM the day they were supposed to begin and said he wanted more money and wouldn't start until the following week. This was before he even went to the property. We agreed only because the house was already set to close and this had delayed that further. He then called the next week and said he would not do the work after we had signed the new contract. His emails and phone calls were full of conflicting stories and then he stopped responding to my realtors inquiries all together. This is the most unethical and incompetent company I have ever worked with. If I would have known their reputation ahead of time I never would have agreed to do business with them! Wow I can not say enough good stuff about this company!! I recently moved to Redding and had never encountered ants and spiders to this magnitude. I tried myself to eliminate the problem. But the ants were out of control. My wife had definitely had enough they were going after everything in our kitchen and bathrooms. So I called Trinity and made an appointment. They came out and were on time, super professional and super nice. They went through the house with me then got to work. For a couple days after we found lots of dead ants that had come out of the walls and tried to cross the line of their spray (but were stopped dead in their tracks). But after that I don't think I have seen an ant since and it has been like a month and a half. Great company that is super professional, very very effective and has good prices. read more

I have been a land lord in Redding for more than 40 years, and have bought or sold more that 30 properties over the years. Trinity Termite has done the inspection on the last 2 homes I have sold. The last one, they charged $125 for inspection this includes checking the entire house for problems, writing a report, and giving an estimate for repairs (no small job). They found a couple of small problems and ask $500 for repairs. I opted to have a licensed contractor do the repairs which cost me less than $300. We then needed Trinity Termite to sign off on the work, an inspection that took less then 2 minutes, for which they charged me $125. The house is less then one mile from the office.....the charge was an outrage at best.....I called the owner 3 times to question the over charge....he still hasn't returned the calls....It has been several months....I highly recommend finding a more reasonable company........... read more
