This is simply as good as bbq chicken gets. Packed with flavor, dripping with sauce, perfectly smoky, and falls right off the bone. I am a small woman and was so excited about it I ate an entire half chicken plus sides by myself. The BBQ was delicious! The smoked turkey tasted great, and the combo was amazing as well. However, only the cashier was wearing a mask. The people preparing food were not. One of the owners thanked us for getting food there, and when I asked why not everyone was wearing a mask he said that in VA only the cashier needs to be wearing a mask and as long as there is a piece of glass separating people it is safe. He was really nice, but unfortunately the Virginia.gov website says all employees working in food services need a mask covering their face. The food was so good, I just hope that they update their practices to be safer at a time when covid cases are at their all time high in the US. We all have to look out for each other! read more

SO good! Like super good! There isn't much in Luray, food-wise. There is no competition on where to stop. It's Triple Crown. The potato salad and beans were super flavorful and well done. If you're a sweet cornbread fan, this cornbread was great. Not at all dry. The chicken was Smokey and delicious but for me the best part was the tritip. I'm from CA and never find tritip on the east coast. It was a pleasant surprise to find it here, even better was that it was soooo good! The prices were great, the portion sizes were big and they have a little corner outside with toys for kids to play. The owners were super friendly too. My family and I always eat BBQ every chance we get and usually disappointed. Triple Crown BBQ was not like most other BBQ places. The food was amazing! I had 1/2 smoked chicken and baked beans. Chicken was cooked perfectly! Tender, juicy, fell off the bone. Baked beans were delicious. I'm not a fan of bacon in my baked beans and these baked beans were loaded with bacon and I still thought they were delicious. My son does not like bbq sauce and he got the steak tip sandwich and loved it! My boyfriend is super picky about his pulled pork. In fact, every time he orders it I roll my eyes because I know it's not going to be as good as what he's hoping for. This was not the case. He loved it!! Thank you!! Discovered this place on yelp as my daughters and I were adventuring to Shenandoah National Park to see the fall colors. Didn't realize it was a small trailer with only outdoor seating (my fault - I read NOTHING about them). We all got pulled pork sandwiches and baked beans. We tried the molasses and smoky honey sauces - all VERY good. Only issue was level of 'spicy' for my girls. Not hot by most standards, but a bit too peppery for them. This place was recommended while we were visiting Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns over Memorial Day weekend. It looks like a food truck converted into a B&M; there are about 8 picnic tables. Our party of four ordered two samplers which comprised ribs, pulled pork, sliced beef, and chicken, a pound of the potato salad, a side of coleslaw (which looks like a pound), and two corn muffins. It was more than enough food for us. My friends raved about the pulled pork, just like other reviews have here. I tried the chicken and sliced beef, and especially enjoyed the moist chicken. Corn muffins were also yummy. Across from the ordering booth, they have BBQ sauces. I liked the sweet heat and the Crowne BBQ sauce, but the meat was really good, you didn't need much of it. We had a half rack combo, half chicken combo and a smoked sausage. The ribs were phenomenal, really met our expectations after reading the great reviews. The sauce was perfect and the meat melts in your mouth. The smoked chicken was really good, tender juicy and amazing when dipped into the Carolina bbq sauce, which was just WOW. So good I found myself drinking it up the cup (really spicy so beware) between bites. Had the beans, slaw, corn muffins and potato salad. All the sides were perfect. Fresh, not too sweet, balanced, any will do. The muffins are small but some of the best I have ever had (not grainy, sticky or too sweet). Its worth making a stop here part of your Luray trip. I think they are open through Thanksgiving, so plenty of time. read more

It's tempting to say that this was the best pulled pork I have ever had in my life. Because it was. But then I'd feel like I had to explain to you why that's a meaningful statement. I'd have to prove my bona fides. I'd have to tell you about how I've eaten pulled pork in dozens of states. I'd have to tell you about the bo ssam at Momofuku in New York, the sandwich I had in Charlotte at the end of two long weeks eating chain-restaurant garbage while on a 24/7 work assignment, the shoulder I had thrown in a crockpot just the day before with a handful of paprika and half a bottle of root beer only to discover that night that it had turned into magic. I'd have to sound, in other words, like a real asshole. Because that's how we recommend things now: we, basically, recommend *ourselves* as experts. And, hell, I'm no expert. I'm just a bad Jew who loves pulled pork and has never had it better than I did last Sunday, sitting under an umbrella at a picnic table, wondering whether my girlfriend ordered smarter by getting the (delicious) tri-tip, adding a dash of the vinegar and a dash of the hot sauce (which is, itself, a miracle), squashing the monster sandwich together with one hand while unwrapping my $1 giant pickle with the other, girding my system (already over-meated from a long weekend in West Virginia) for another half pound of dead animal flesh, and then taking an inadvisably large bite and having some kind of out-of-body experience: my ears popping, my vision tunneling, my shoulders sagging, my hands shaking. Perfect mix of meat and bark and smoke and fat. Ideal, practically definitional, texture. Intensely porky. I almost forgot about the pickle. And I never forget about pickles. And still, it may not mean anything to you if I say this was the best pulled pork I have ever had in my life. So I'll say this: It's the best pulled pork *you* will ever have in *yours*. read more

We had trouble finding a decent place to eat during our trip to Luray. We found this place after asking around with people saying "yea, it's pretty good." We stopped by on our way back from Luray Caverns, but this place is good enough to make it worth a drive from skyline or 81 just to eat lunch. The owner served us extra baked beans, because he just had a hunch we'd need some. Most delicious beans ever-- made with apples & bacon, and not at all heavy. I had the pulled pork sandwich, and it just melted in my mouth. There's no indoor seating, so we ate outside in the ~40F weather but barely minded the cold because the food was that good. I'm surprised the owner is from VA, a place that's not really known for its BBQ-- this was delicious, and I'm so glad we stopped by! I found Triple Crown based on reviews online and am very glad I did. Absolutely delicious pulled pork and baked beans! I had 13 hungry guys to feed on the front end of a bachelor party weekend, and Triple Crown absolutely hit the spot. I'd highly recommend for any sort of catered event, or just stopping by if you're in the area. The owner, John, was incredibly helpful helping to put the order together over the phone and a pleasure to meet in person.
