Some context: after about 14 years in the house, we had to replace over the last two years our water heater, dish washer, a faucet due to a leak, the flange under a second floor toilet that leaked into the first floor, and our refrigerator. I was working the day they came, so I was a bit distracted. Somehow I was convinced to also have installed a house filtration system that would get me $400 off the price of the garbage disposal. Seeing online what a new garbage disposal installation typically costs, I'm baffled by how much this disposal must have cost in the first place. In the end, I paid $3795 that day.... to replace a garbage disposal! And now our water pressure upstairs sucks! He sold me on the hard water being the reason all my stuff went, but really, don't those things usually last 10-15 years? He also said I won't have to replace the frig filter again. Doing some research, that is not accurate. Plus I have to replace this carbon filter on the house system each year, which is way more. In the end, watch out for falling for the up sale. I can't tell what the cost breakdown was because the receipt is barely readable, but I would love to be able to have them un-install the house filter. It says I have to mail it back by midnight of the third business day after install indicating I want to cancel, which means tomorrow, unless they count Saturdays. Why is mailing the only option? That is the BS part. I had no issues with the work, but I feel like I was taken advantage of to spend way more than needed, to only get reduced water pressure and maybe some long term benefit the new owners may realize in 10 years. Yes I was the idiot in the end.
