I have been here several times. The cost is a little high, but most of the technicians are fantastic. They did have a gentleman who did not do such a great job (which is why I took off one star). However I didn't see him there the last time I was in. The staff is kind and patient. They try their best to get you into a chair ASAP. Of course it really depends on heavier traffic times than other times. You can make an appointment, though. I just use walk in time. The facility is clean. I've always felt the tools are clean. These ladies are terrific! One of the most detail-oriented nail salons that I have been to. They really make sure to attend to every detail, and truly take their time with filing, prepping, and making sure that all the edges and corners of your nails are completely clean and prepped. I had an appointment for 6 p.m. and I arrived 15 minutes early just to I could pick a color (I take ages to decide). The staff were busy and I welcomed and expecting to patiently wait for 15-20 minutes. To my surprise, they sat me down in 5 minutes and started me soaking in acetone. Again, I was prepared to wait. Now 1 hour later, I am sitting in the chair, post-soak, waiting to have someone come continue with my nails. I should leave but don't want to be rude because maybe this is to be expected and I am over critical. However, for 45 minutes, they have had me soaking my nails in acetone. I kept lifting them out every few minutes then after 30 minutes, I chose to take them out because I was starting to get light headed from the smell and in my moderate experience with dip manicures, I have never soaked for more than 15-20 minutes. That is some powerful stuff and dont love the idea of what soaking my hands in that is doing to my skin. Maybe the practice has changed? The stylist came over and asked why I took them out and I said that I needed a break from the smell. She disapproved and asked me to put my nails back into the solution and gave me a cotton ball to wipe the remaining dip polish off. Again, not sure if this is now common practice and covid has made me a novice, but I have never had to wipe my own nail polish off. Now, having wiped all my nail polish off, I am sitting on my phone, 60 minutes from my appointment with these nails (see photo) and I am debating whether or not to leave. I think I may. Bummer, but I want my beach nails! Update: the stylist was meticulous! She put great attention into every step. I will most likely try again because the timing could be a singular outlier and covid impact, hopefully so because they do good work. read more

I would not recommend this place. The quality of services is poor and the customer service was even worse. I visited this Nail shop for the first time last week to get a Shellac (no-chip) manicure and it lasted for less than 1 week. 1 nail broke the very next day, another broke several days later, and the polish chipped on 2 other nails. I get Shellac manicures frequently and never had this issue before. I returned back on Day 6 to inform them and the customer service was HORRIBLE. They refused to take any accountability and after sitting and waiting for over 30mins, they did nothing to try to resolve the issue. This was the first and LAST time that this place will will ever get my money. So if you want quality service, I highly recommend that you go somewhere else or you will be very disappointed in the end. read more

Had an awesome first visit to Trix today. Staff were nice but didn't try to engage me in useless small talk. I just kind of like to zone out when I get my manicures so they respected that. My nails look awesome and the price point is amazing. You really can't beat a $28 gel manicure in this area. I've been here probably 5 times or so because it's close to my house and convenient! I have been getting my nails done for years, and came here from bigger cities, so I guess I'm a bit spoiled in that regard, however, I do expect nail spas to stay up to date with nail trends that are always changing!! This place is stuck in the past. If you want just a basic polish change or solid colors, you're okay going here. But don't expect anything else. They don't have foils, and they turned me away when I asked for a simple beige-colored nail with red tips. "We can't do that". It's basically a French manicure but with different colors? "I can try, it it won't work". I don't want you to try!!! So I was stuck with one color. Like everyone I go there. Last time I wanted foil and they looked at me like I had 3 heads. In my experience, there are 2 ladies who are good with nails. The older gentleman is super super rough with your hands, beware!! The younger gentleman who does pedicures, doesn't seem to really know what he's doing (which causes pain)! The staff is cold and unaccommodating. I came here again because my friend likes it and they now have a rewards system. But I won't be coming back. They seem to always charge whatever they want, instead of what is posted. It's just sketchy and not good! Some other things: hot inside, no fans going (I was there in October and all it would have taken was a propped-open door! My friend and I have been there together many times and it will take 3-4 hours to be done!!!! There is (often) one nail tech (I think the owner) who does acrylics, so I would wait until my friend was done, and then she would start mine! We would never get out in less than 3 hours. I came to Trix to get a pedi with my mom before an upcoming trip because it's close to her place. She warns me ahead of time that it's "nothing fancy". Well, she was right. No character or charm to the place; plain white walls where the only color was from the bottles of nail polish. So we walk in, ask for two pedis, and were told by two ladies already waiting for service they've been waiting for 2 hours already and then leave after complaining. Not a good start. I made a comment to my mom it's because they only have 2 people working. Lo and behold 2 guys come out to do our pedis. Why they couldn't service the two already waiting I wasn't digging. Pick my color and off to the chair. Because I was wearing too tight of pants (face palm) I only got the classic pedi where they clean and shape your nails and give a lotion massage. $25....ouch. The guy I had did a very thorough job making my toes all nice but the lotion massage was way rough. Overall it was pretty ok, but I was not confident the tools were clean. He didn't bring out tools in a sterile bag. Instead, they were in a drawer and a zip lock bag. Good way to get an infection. Luckily, it's a day later and my nails are fine. I wouldn't go here again. Didn't seem the cleanest and for a few more bucks elsewhere I can get better. read more

I should have read the reviews before I went. Like several others, I went here because I didn't want to drive to Ann Arbor to my trusted salon for my pedicure. They put me in a chair, put my feet in the water, and left me for 45 minutes! The water was getting cold, and when the employee beside me was done, I figured I would be next (because I was actually next). Wrong! She took the customer over and started her nails! I asked when they would start my pedicure, and the manager told me in 15 minutes. I don't think so!! I squished my way out of there with my wet feet, never to return. Pedicure was ok; tech went to send me on my way afterward without considering I'd also asked for a manicure. Seemed inconvenienced. I came in with a friend and asked how long the wait would be for 2 gel manicures, she said 30 mins. 40 mins later they started my friend, and not until over an hour had passed did they start mine. Meanwhile, someone had come in with a mani/pedi reservation for 2 people and they made them wait an hour. I can understand if you are busy, but simply be honest that you are booked instead of lying about wait times and wasting everyone's time. I give this place no stars! This salon moved to a new shop next to Kroger under the name Crystal Nail Salon and Spa and they are RUDE and disrespectful! One of my acrylic dipped nails lifted completely off in a week so I went to get it fixed and to get a mani/pedi for my 11 year old. The owner was very rude about fixing my nail, like I was lying. She tried to tell me it broke because I use it to open pop! I told her I haven't had a can pop and I'm right-handed, so I wouldn't use that hand to open pop. Then I asked could she tell the the tech doing my daughter's pedi to cut he nails low because I was out of eyesight and I didn't want to be rude. She asked me, your daughter doesn't speak English!!! Really terrible job. The guy told me many times that he was on his way out the door until I came in and he had to do my nails (it was the middle of the day) and he sped through the job as fast as he could. He made my cuticles bleed on more than one finger, and my manicure is super lumpy and bubbled. Very disappointed. The overall atmosphere was pretty bleak too. Horrible experience older lady number 4 cut me twice my finger been hurting for a week now. She charged me extra for no reason haha because she a greedy b. She pulled my arm aggressively yank it. Stabbing me on purpose i ask to speak to manager she ignored me. Messed up my nails and cut off all my natural nails. First time I went there the lady who sits in the 2nd seat towards the front was amazing. She did a wonderful job. Second time I went the lady that sits towards the back- 2nd to last table- skinny with short blue hair did a HORRIBLE job!! I asked for a shellac French manicure, all the white lines were not even, sides were missing polish, clumpy, I had bubbles in all of my nails then she chipped the side of my nail and my nail was going to break off but she thought she could just put shellac on it in order to hold it together. 2 days later that nail broke completely off!! The clear nail polish was all over my cuticles. She also did my toes and the nail polish was the same way!! All over the sides of my toes. Nail polish stuck under my nails!! She burned me with the water twice and was so rough doing my pedicure and hurt me 3x!!! She was just cutting away at my nails but barely filed any of them, they were so sharp and rough. My experience here was so bad that after that I will never return. What a waste of money and time. I'm livid!! This is the SECOND time I've asked for something and the tech picked whatever they wanted. I requested the Ultimate pedicure, asked for eucalyptus scrub and as she was doing my pedicure I noticed her using something else. I asked if it was eucalyptus (because I could clearly see it said Unicorn glitter) there was a bit of a language barrier and another tech intervened and said we don't have eucalyptus. I'm okay that they didn't have what I asked for, but please inform the customer before choosing whatever you want. When I pointed it out to the other tech, she had an attitude and said, "well we don't have it, do you not want it or what?" I did inform that I did not want what was chosen and for $60+ I can get what I choose. The attitude was unnecessary; as the customers don't know what you all have in inventory And it was listed on the sheet to choose from! My only request was to inform the customer before making a decision for them. Typically, I wouldn't even say anything, but again this is the second time it's happened. read more

Do not patronize TRIX NAIL SALON!!!!!!!Let's start off by saying I've lived in Ypsilanti Township all my life, and I currently live in Greene Farms where are I pay my taxes. My daughter who grew up in this neighborhood just left out of this Trix nail salon on Whittaker Rd in Ypsilanti where she was treated disgustingly, she was not acknowledged for over 15 minutes when she walked through the door and then when she was asked what service she wanted she sat at the pedicure seat for over 20 minutes to get her feet done with no water ever put in the bowl and not acknowledged by anyone there, the bad part about it is no other clients were even in the nail salon. She called and told me about her terrible experience because she just walked out of there and still no one ever tried to say anything to her, then I called up there and a woman who states her name was Evelyn said she was too busy to listen and hung up the first time I called. I immediately called right back, asked her not to hang up the phone that was disrespectful and I wanted to talk to a manager which she reluctantly and eventually gave me the number for someone named Mark?? I called that number and a man who states his name was Lee answer the phone and said Mark was asleep so I explain the story to him which for whatever reason we got disconnected and now no one will answer the phones??? Not only is this behavior unacceptable no matter what you look like, what color you are, or if they think you can spend some money or not is disappointing in this day and age for anyone to be treated in this behavior!!! I will not support this business, I will never spend a dime there again, and bad word-of-mouth travels anywhere from 10 to 18 years!!! You don't even deserve not one star, but it looks like I had to put something on there in order to rate you!!!! read more
