She said she would have the district manager give me a call. Surprise the district manager never called and now no one answers the phone. The public storage that I currently have my stuff is 8201 W. 159th Street. I don't think the price should double within 9 months. It is ridiculous that the price can go up that much and that fast. There is no customer service at all. No one calls you back and then no one answers the phone. Very frustrating.

They give me 30 days notice, but there is no appeal process or formal way to request a price freeze. They have complete autonomy and no accountability-so you have no options except to endure the inconvenience of finding a new storage facility and moving your items. I am paying almost $200 more per month now than when I signed the contract perhaps 2 1/2 years ago. It is a terrible business practice to just randomly increase rates! They did give me a couple of discounts and a credit, after I complained, but ultimately I'm paying almost $600 a month for a 10x25 unit, which is the amount people pay to rent an entire studio in some areas!! They think it helps to say that customers that sign up today pay more than what I'm paying - but I would not pay those rates if I were looking today!! Usually companies give you discounts/advantages for being long-term, great customers - nope, not this one. They just raise the prices because they can. It's awful! The storage units are nice, safe and secure. I have usually found Deb helpful with responding to my needs/concerns. I've expressed so many complaints regarding the rate increases, that she knows who I am! If you are open to paying random increases and hundreds of dollars more per month than you signed up for - this is your place. If however, you have a budget and cannot afford significant rate hikes - DO NOT STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE! They know it's too difficult to move your things to another location, so they just price gouge. BEWARE!

And now Extra Space has bought them out. And every buyout eventually forces a rent increase. New owners usually give everyone a pass on rent increases for a time, but then they have to pay for their investment and they start raising rents to get them up to "market." It is frustrating, but typical in todays' market. My last rate increase was 25% ... so don't be surprised by increases. If they are close to fully rented ... you're getting an increase. Enough of my gripes, it is still a pretty nice place. They have both indoor climate-controlled units and outdoor units without climate control. Obviously being in the climate-controlled area is a bit more expensive. Everything here is very clean...they have good housekeeping, so the premises and areas around the units are all nicely kept...they earn big points for this. They do not have a lot for storage of RV units or boats. The office area sells locks, boxes, and other shipping/packing supplies. The office people are very nice and professional. This facility has a dock with sunken ramp so you can take direct truck delivery; they also have a grade level area where a truck can drop a lift or you can run your own ramp ... either way these are nice offerings and they open to double-doors so you can get a skid load through the doorway. You do need to provide your own pallet jack though. They have various carts for moving boxes, but they do not offer a lift for moving around skids. It is located just off Wolf Road and you can see Interstate 80 from the property. All-in-all this is a pretty nice storage facility for your extra stuff. Just bring your wallet.

I paid my July rent but had to suddenly move my stuff out on 7/3 & I received no refund. It seems as if they would have preferred me to "skip out" on rent as opposed to being responsible & paying the amount agreed on the 1st of every month. Had I known I was moving out, I wouldn't have paid but it was unexpected & an emergency. Most storage places will only charge you for the days you used the unit & refund the remaining rent. NOPE. Not Public Storage. They kept my entire $80 for 3 days of actual usage. + getting calls back or being able to talk to anyone in the office was extremely difficult! I always had to call the main # or finally start using the Chat feature on their website.

The facility was extremely clean and organized. The storage is inside, so no more standing out in the rain struggling with the lock to access your belongings.... The keypad on the right side almost never worked properly. Also to leave it was difficult to do the keyboard and then you had to Iike run to your truck in order to get out without the gate coming down on you. It would just keep going as I don't believe there is a sensor to know if your vehicle is passing or not. Luckily I got out but this part was not good.
