My dad has been had a Trojan system in his house for as long as I can remember. The issue is not necessarily the alarm system itself but the quality of customer service on the monitoring. My dad was out of town so I stayed at his house with my mom (who is ill and bed bound). On Thursday, the system started beeping and I called Trojan. No answer. It was after 5pm, but there was no number listed or given for emergencies. So, all night, it continued to beep. It really upset my mom, who is very ill. First thing Friday morning, I called Trojan, who indicated the problem was a low battery. I asked someone to come out that day and fix it. They said they were all booked but would call me back to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, they told me to press #, which will silence it for a very short period of time. Then it will resume beeping. After several hours (with no call back), I called again and asked for the first available appointment as well as a way to cut power to the system to stop the beeping. Living with beeping REALLY gets to you on day 2! It's even worse for my ill mom. They still made no appointment and said that my system was too complicated for them to know how to cut the power and they didn't know of any other way to stop the beeping. At that point I was delirious from no sleep (and we can't take my mom out of the house so someone had to stay with her 24/7), so I called my dad and asked him to call directly. They told my dad they had ways of stopping the beeping, but when I called back to follow the instructions, none of those steps worked. Still, no appointment. Finally, I got a call back for a Monday appointment. But I told them we could not live with incessant beeping for 3 more days and nights!!! At no point did anyone apologize nor did anyone care whatsoever that we were living in beeping torment. No one cared that they were making it impossible for an ill 70+ woman with MS to sleep. Finally, they gave me the after hours number so I called them at 9pm on Friday night. After extensive back and forth, they told me they could send someone on Saturday, but it would be charged at the weekend rate. I said I would have paid anything to get them there on Thursday, Friday, or now Saturday. Friday night, I slept in the kitchen by the control panel so I could press # every single hour so as to try and give my mom as little beeping as possible. I even told them I was sleeping by the panel and they just said "there is nothing we can do. You'll just have to wait." It's now several days later and I still hear the beeping in my ears and have not recovered from sleep deprivation. What's ridiculous is that when the technician got here (and he was the only one who was polite or helpful) it took him maybe 10 minutes to solve the problem. If they supposedly have a night/weekend/emergency technician, why couldn't the company offer him on Thursday or Friday? I made it very clear multiple times I would pay anything to just get the beeping to stop. read more

How would I describe Tom Martin: trustworthy, efficient, accommodating, flexible, reasonable, and formally polite! He cares very much about meeting design specifications and legal requirements when making an installation. So you can be sure you will not be left with any issues years after. The job was completed on schedule and with ease; quickly, thoroughly, and above all with quality and according to specification. What terrific service and at a fair price. I have a feeling I will be their customer forever, and will recommend Tom Martin and his team to others who need a security system or other electrical installations. We originally engaged Trojan to install a home security system. We researched the five or six companies that were possible and selected Trojan based on cost and monthly service plan. We found that when we met with the Trojan rep that they had creative and cost effective ways to accomplish an effective security plan (such as wiring screens so windows could be left open on hot days but still have an effective security arrangement.) We then learned what Trojan could do in wiring the house for internet access and home theatre. We expanded Trojan's roll in the rewiring of our house and the creation of a hard wired internet (data) network. They advised us on the home theatre plan and did the installation of the system. Trojan gave us the option of providing different levels of systems that we may want or just installing custom equipment which I bought. The organization of the telecommunications box which they installed for the internet, telephone, cable/satellite system was carefully labeled and easily accessible for any future changes or modifications that we or a future owner could want. The cable installer from Comcast commented that he had never seen such a well organized system before. The Trojan guys who set my system up were highly knowledgeable and able to deal with all of the individual custom components and integrated the entire system beautifully. This included running the electric for new heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and pool filtering equipment systems. They expertly managed the integration of the old electrical systems with the new systems. They provided critical advice on issues to consider when integrating the new and old systems of the house. They explained the latest in electrical, audio, video and alarm system technology along with the associated advantages and disadvantages. The Trojan team worked around our house and family for approximately 4 months. They were one of just a few contractors that we allowed to work in the house without the general contractor being present.
