    BLACKBERRY MOJITO BAR
    Daren R.

The Tropicado Mojito Bar recently opened in the lobby of the La Concha hotel along Duval Street. Very elegant atmosphere with an incredible amount of natural light. A lounge area off the bar to relax with a cocktail. Ordered a blackberry mojito with lime, blackberry and mint garnish. The bowl of fresh mussels were drenched in garlic cream sauce and tasty. Very refreshing light drink before dinner. Happy Hour between 4p - 7p with half off all beer, wine and Key Lime Martinis for $15. The clean bathroom spewed elegance with brass faucets on the sinks with green granite counters. It was only missing the man that gives you a spray of cologne and dries your hands.

To be completely fair, the bartender told us they just opened recently so I will say they're likely still working out some kinks. I'll share the good and bad, but the "bad" wasn't that bad, I would give them another chance. So this restaurant is located inside a hotel lobby. The hotel is beautiful I guess it's newly renovated? The restaurant has a fun island vibe. To drink I ordered the Island Time Mojito and I found it to be delicious! I ordered another one after it was so good. To eat, my bf and I shared the Achiote Pulpo a La Braza, the Bahamian Conch Patty, and the Peruvian Papa a La Huancaina. The best of the three was the Bahamian Conch Patty. Great flavor. However, my bf and I found the blue sauce (I believe it's the "Key Lime Crema") to be a very strange addition to the dish. There's no other way to explain it other than a Danimals yogurt tube we used to eat when we were kids. Without this crema this dish would be much better. Next would be the Achiote Pulpo a La Braza. The octopus was good but I will say the addition of the Tequeño to the dish was nothing I've ever seen before lol... and I lived in Miami for 27 years! I would personally never put the two together but it wasn't bad. Just a strange mixture. But the chimichurri made it all good. In last place was the Peruvian Papa a La Huancaina. We are big fans of Huancaina however the olives in this dish were overwhelming and made it taste strange (and we love olives). We liked this one the least. Overall, the menu wasn't bad at all. Some strange pairings but I think they have potential! I'll come back soon and see if modifications have been made. Either way the mojito was worth coming back for!

SUCH a great hotel bar! We were so impressed with the food- I'm not kidding that this is one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. The drinks were great and it's a really beautiful hotel bar. Fun mojito options, happy hour is sadly on for beer and wine. The bartenders were super friendly and gave great suggestions!

And it's not only the drink menu with its custom crafted cocktails, wines, beers & ciders that will wow you but the accompanying snacks and bites are just as divine. And bonus, it's not only a bar, but also a liquor store with an awesome selection of wines and spirits. This bar definitely has a locals vibe. It's small , dark and cozy and the small tables with velvet chairs are very welcoming. We loved it so much. We came back for a second night. We tried the Maria Rita, which was a reposado tequila with fresh lemon, lime, hibiscus, and habanero, perfect version of a margarita. We also tried blowing smoke up your glass, this was made with Papa Pilar, dark rum, pineapple, fresh lime, house made basil syrup & tiki bitters. Absolutely fabulous. We also tried their deviled eggs each topped with unique toppings like trout row, bacon, and scallions. They were absolutely fabulous. They also have a great selection of charcuterie, Key nuts which you can order with different flavor, profiles, caviar, olives & peppers. Also, the most generous happy hour I've ever heard of from 12 to 6 PM every day. Don't miss out on this little jewel when in Key West.

The decor is seductive in such a tasteful and classy way, everything is so romantic. It's beautiful. Cozy, intimate booths. Sparkling chandeliers flickering in candlelight. Ambient lighting. It is a perfect place to end your evening with your partner. We made reservations the morning of, on a Wednesday evening for our anniversary, and were seated promptly. Service was incredible from start to finish. I appreciate their ipad menus with questions to ask your partner, peruse the menu, and read about the origins. There are plenty of drinks and deserts with double entendre names, they're so fun. Huge positive that they have virgin drinks, and several to choose from. Both deserts we tried were out of the world delicious. The missionary crisp ice cream and flavor was 10/10, no notes to improve. Key lime from behind was the best key lime I've had in my life and quickly became the best we have tried on Key West. Incredible and what a lovely place!!

Romantic lighting and private booths made for some good ambiance. The iPad menus were great and very useful in selecting desserts and drinks. Everything on order is accompanied by a double entendre title, which makes it fun to pick. Candy rimmed beer was good; and the berry crisp and ice cream offerings were tasty. Honestly too big, even for two. But they were trying to do something different. To know: they do not have a license for hard liquor. A fun spot to have a sweet treat. Maybe don't bring the kids.

Great people watching, a relaxed atmosphere, and exactly the kind of setting we were hoping for in Key West. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. The martinis were excellent, and every dish we ordered was a hit. We started with the ahi tuna, which was fresh, light, and the perfect way to start the meal. For dinner I had the fish special over risotto, and my husband had the homemade bolognese. Both were fantastic. It's hard to say which was better because we kept trading bites back and forth. To finish the evening, they surprised me with a pineapple upside down cake for my birthday, complete with a sparkler. It was a fun ending to an already memorable meal. Between the porch seating, the service, the cocktails, and the food, this was one of those dinners that just gets everything right. We'd happily return the next time we're in Key West.

There's a bar inside on both floors, and separate rooms with long tables for big parties. Cool wallpaper, decor, and music- ambiance is 10/10. I ordered the cheese board (SKIP- it's average and tastes like it's out of a lunchbox), and the bacon wrapped dates that are stuffed with blue cheese (the bacon was extra crispy, the blue cheese both chunky and creamy, and it really was the perfect bite). Also ordered the beef bolognese pappardelle (homemade al dente noodles with a creamy sauce and large chunks of Wagyu beef) and the whole yellowtail snapper. The whole yellowtail snapper is their signature dish and it was the star. The fish was fresh, flaky, and juicy, with a crispy skin; and the Thai fish sauce paired perfectly with the fish. Would come back and order this dish again, 100%.

Food Blackfin is a beer and wine restaurant, so no cocktails. I'm not a big drinker, but I do enjoy when a place offers creative house cocktails. Since I'm not much of a wine or beer person either, I was initially a bit disappointed. That changed quickly when I saw they served Stiegl Grapefruit Radler. That alone felt like a small vacation in a glass. The menu offers plenty of choices to satisfy almost any palate. We weren't especially hungry, so we opted for a lighter approach: * Grilled Octopus * Tempura Green Beans * Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad Everything we ordered was very good. The salad was fresh and thoughtfully balanced, with bacon, goat cheese, apple, and honey bringing layers of flavor. It was served with a crusty baguette. We don't normally eat bread, but this was a welcome addition. The grilled octopus was tender, flavorful, and served hot. Always a good sign. The tempura items were nicely executed, lightly battered and not greasy. The green beans were crisp with delicate seasoning, served alongside a balsamic glaze dipping sauce that complemented without overpowering. Service Service was attentive throughout the evening. We never felt forgotten, and we never felt rushed. The pacing was natural and relaxed. Thank you, Gabor. Atmosphere The indoor dining area feels quiet and intimate. The outdoor patio in the back leans more casual. Surrounded by a tall fence and shaded by trees that form natural canopies, it offers a sense of privacy that can be hard to find in many of the more open-air restaurants along Duval Street. Even though this was a lighter, abbreviated meal for us, my sense is that Blackfin would be an excellent choice for a full dinner. We would definitely plan to return on our next visit to Key West.
