I tried an "orange wine" and really liked it! It is not flavored orange, it is called that due to the wine process where the seeds and the skin create a wine that is a light orange color. I usually go for Chardonnay, however, found the Sharp and Sexy quite nice. FOOD: Excellent. The cheese plates have generous portions and they are happy to swap cheeses out depending on what your taste preference is. There is always fresh bread, nuts and fruit served alongside the cheese. SERVICE: Julie is delightful and knowledgeable of every item on the wine and food menu. She is attentive and bubbly. ATMOSPHERE: A warm place with a few bar seats, small tables inside and a couple outside. Most of the time we have stopped here, the bartender is the only one working there and they have to cover not only the bar but all the indoor and outdoor tables. Things got real weird when our server, who is apparently a manager, refused to provide an itemized receipt. We didn't receive a receipt until after we paid. We then realized we were overcharged and requested the extra items be reimbursed on our credit card. We were told to call the cops and one of the managers friends grabbed my arm to try and force me out. Fortunately, He was like 70 years old so I could hold my own. At one point I was accused of being unprofessional, which is silly because they were actively engaging in their profession whilst being unprofessional. Our server refused to show us a receipt before we paid our bill. They gave us an appetizer that the chef admitted was not up to the restaurant's standards, but refused to refund us. Came here twice while in key west for a few days. Heard about it from our AirBnb and sounded like our sort of place. Came the first time just to have some wine and kill some time before dinner elsewhere. Had some nice cheese and glasses of wine and great service. What I like is the idea of talking about a style of wine rather than a particular grape or region. They list their glasses this way and thought their classifications were spot on. Helps with finding a style your like rather than something odd done to a grape by a certain winery. Cheeses were great. Came back for dinner the next day. The eggs were lovely, get the bacon ones. The duck confit was very good but the rillettes were very different than what I have had other places. More like they were "cooked" and dried out. Reminded me of duck carnitas! Which was fine, but was hoping for that fatty ducky spread I've had other places. Debated 4 stars, but the dessert was very good, the service excellent and just a generally good time so we'll go with 5. Many interesting bottles to purchase, but be aware of the corkage if you are going to enjoy on site. We got a nice bottle to take back to your place to enjoy later. We had pink shrimp which was a little snack as we had already eaten. There were 3 shrimp for $5 but that also got us half price wine so YAY! I had a bold red wine that was fantastic. (forgot the name) I also bought a bottle of French table wine to take back to the resort with us for $19. I believe they actually offer a full food menu as well but we didn't check out the menu. This establishment is smaller so I imagine it can get busy during the weekends and afternoons but there were only 4 of us on a Tuesday evening. There are 3 nice tables outside that face the cobble stone streets and then a small bar and tables inside. We didn't know what to choose to start with so our server offered to customize a board for us! He asked if there was anything we would not prefer and then he went to work! What he brought back was amazing! Meats, cheese, nuts, and dried fruit! The board filled 2 of us up and we also had 2 glasses of their sweet wine which taste like honey juice (ha!) This is a nice little venue. The other customers were very nice. Our issue and the reason for the 3 stars was that the bar tender, who might have been a sommelier, and who might have been the owner was very pretentious. He did not have a wine list. Instead he required us to tell him what flavors we liked in a wine. We misunderstood the question and said we like Malbec. He quickly told us that Malbec was a grape not a flavor. True. But rude. He wanted to know flavors like chocolate, ash, cigar, dirt, etc blah blah blah. Then he would pick out the wine and ask us to taste with no indication of price, etc. He was more interested in showing how smart he is. This may be ok for people who really have a good palette for wines but for most people who just want a nice glass of wine, and who don't want to be belittled this is not the place. read more

I have visited ViV on multiple occasions and it continues to be a 5 Star experience each time. Service is exceptional and love their passion for food and wine. The cheese plate and pate is awesome! I didn't know if I was in Key West or in France. The choices, quality, flavor and of course the wine are fantastic. This place is warm, welcoming and you can sit and enjoy wine or champagne in a casual but refined setting without any pretentiousness. HIGHLY recommend the cheese plate and you MUST get the duck liver mousse. I usually ask for recommendations on wine and have never been disappointed. Honestly, i wish this review was more positive because i love this place, but this last visit was just not a good time. Now, I've been here multiple times with girlfriends and coworkers and we're usually served by the lovely French woman, so because of those previous experiences I told my boyfriend we should go for a long overdue (thanks COVID) date night. When we got there, there were 2 other tables, both in the middle of eating their meals, and the woman (not the usual one, someone I'd never seen), looked at us like we didn't "belong" there and just asked, "inside or outside?". Okay... no hello, no greeting. Anyways, there was a 'reserved' sign on the only other interior table so I said either was fine, but we could wait for inside and she said, "well i wouldn't have asked you if i didn't have both available." Strike 2 for rudeness. Another girl, younger and she seemed new/training (keep in mind i work in hospitality so not only do i see everything going on, but i can forgive a lot too) brought us waters and the older, rude woman brought us a drink list and the menu. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. Probably a good 10-15 minutes for the woman to come back and ask what we wanted. We gave her our appetizers, and i mentioned that we wanted to do a "Build Your Own" board, and she literally cut me off and said "let me put these in and I'll come back." And almost walked off until i asked if we could at least put in our drink order. She brought my beer but took another 10 minutes to bring my boyfriend his, with no explanation as to why. At this point I'm getting disappointed and obviously upset. She brings our appetizers and still has yet to come back to ask about the cheese board, so I had to wave her down and REMIND her that that was the whole reason we came. She again, acted annoyed, and stood there tapping her fingers while i told her that we love mostly everything and that while I don't care for blue cheese, add one on there because my boyfriend does -- and any nut additions could please be in a separate bowl. No biggie, not picky at all. I told her, "go crazy, give us a bunch of things, this is literally our dinner." 20 minutes later she comes back with the most pathetic looking board I've ever seen in my life. There's one small piece of blue, about 5-6 pieces of some kind of meat, another 15 or so pieces of a different meat, and 2 small pieces of plain white semi-soft cheeses that look and taste basically exactly the same. The only "add on" she gave us was the tomatillo salsa they make. No effort, nothing. At this point, I'm visibly upset. I tell my boyfriend to just eat quickly and let's go because it's obvious she hasn't wanted us in there from the beginning. I guess she picked up on me not being happy because she tried to do a 180 and suddenly be nice to us and personable, but we weren't having it. We paid and I saw she charged us THIRTY DOLLARS for that board that was essentially the same amount of food as an average Lunchable. Needless to say, my boyfriend never wants to go back, and I'll definitely be wary if my usual server isn't working. What was meant to be a nice date night was absolutely ruined by the treatment we received and just utter lack of concern or effort -- especially when the restaurant wasn't even busy. 2 stars because I have had previous positive experiences, and the apps that we got were good. But unless the lovely French woman is working, I wouldn't waste your time ordering charcuterie.
