If you must have Tropical Smoothie, go to Easton. The service at the Bexley store is beyond horrible.

First time my wife and daughter stopped before our daughter headed overseas for two years in the Peace Corps. Scotty''s is super close and convenient to the airport. Scotty learned of the imminent departure and came with cookies and treats for the long flight! And now this morning it was another airport drop off. It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that. Seriously, I can declare victory for finding something I'd never had before. Never would have found it without the nudge. Had to cut myself off with all the coffee offers. Just a great vibe. You rarely see a 4.9 rating and even more rarely that high based on so many reviews. But I understand why - like in so many things in life, it is about the people. And the joy they bring to every conversation. And I will just add, in this age when some would divide us, this dining room is filled with all manner of folks, reveling together over food in fellowship.

Their baked goods are also a must-get, especially the lemon cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies! The workers were so kind and attentive and made our first experience there absolutely amazing.

The frog eyes were delicious. Hearty but good. I topped it off with homemade toaster strudel which was fantastic. A melon drama mimosa was a nice treat to wash the food down. By the time we walked to the host stand--literally within seconds--we were told we had already lost our spot. They put us back on the waitlist and told us it would be about 20 minutes. After waiting around 25 minutes, we received another text saying our table was ready. Once again, we went straight to the host stand, only to be told there wasn't actually a table available. We asked if we could at least sit at the bar, but since we were a party of four, that wasn't an option. Instead, they added us to the waitlist for a third time and told us to wait another 20 minutes. The most disappointing part was watching more than 10 couples get seated while we continued to be overlooked. It felt like the waitlist system was completely disorganized, and the staff offered no real explanation or solution. After wasting nearly an hour, we decided to leave and have brunch somewhere else. Fortunately, the other restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately, this place turned what should have been a relaxing brunch into a frustrating and disappointing experience.

I wish I could say it was worth the wait. We ordered the "award winning" breakfast tacos, the Nutella pancake balls with bacon, and two orange juices. The bill came to nearly $50 and then we were asked for a tip. That last part stung a little, considering the service model is essentially counter-order takeout style. A friendly staff member directed us to grab a menu, decide what we wanted, and then come tell her. We did sit down and have our food brought to us, but it still felt more like a fast-casual setup than one that warrants a tip prompt. The restaurant itself is pleasant, clean, open, and airy with a nice patio out front. No complaints there. The food, however, was underwhelming. The breakfast tacos, supposedly the star of the show, were bland across the board and fell apart almost immediately. Three small tacos for $20 is a tough sell when there's nothing memorable about them. The Nutella pancake balls were decent but forgettable. The real highlight? The bacon, but that's not exactly a high bar. As for the orange juice, it comes pre-made and refrigerated near the register, which felt a little out of place for a spot with this kind of reputation. I genuinely don't understand the hype around the food here. The price point would be justified if the flavors delivered, but they simply don't. The staff were kind and the space is lovely, I just can't recommend making a special trip for the menu.

Let's start with the pancake balls. The signature dish is absolutely out of this world. You can get them filled with Nutella, dulce de leche or Apple/Pumpkin butter. This sandwich was so good and don't sleep on the homemade citrus aioli - outstanding. Our table also had the hens in a basket. Yelp Elite Event at The Mercury Diner -- Come Hungry, Leave Happy!…read more WOW... just WOW! First and foremost, a HUGE shout-out to Jasmine and Hanna for putting on one heck of a Yelp Elite event tonight! You ladies absolutely crushed it! Now let's talk about the food... because that's why you're really here, right? Everything I tried was packed with flavor, but a few things really stood out. The homemade English muffins -- YES, homemade! And you could tell. They were fantastic. The fresh avocado smash -- basically guacamole, but calling it avocado smash somehow makes it sound even better! Either way, it was fresh, flavorful, and seriously delicious. Those crispy potatoes -- perfectly seasoned with that beautiful crispy exterior. I could have eaten a whole plate of them! And then came the mimosas... OH. MY. GOODNESS. These weren't your average brunch mimosas. They were next level! I started with the blackberry, and I think that one was my favorite. Then I tried the strawberry basil, followed by the Martian, which was pineapple-based. Let's just say... the bartender knew what they were doing! Speaking of the bartenders, they were absolutely fabulous--friendly, welcoming, and keeping everyone's glasses full. Overall, this was a fantastic night with great food, incredible drinks, and an awesome group of people. This is exactly why I love being part of the Yelp Elite community! And I'm not done with The Mercury Diner yet... Next time, I'm bringing the blogger camera and doing a full-on Brian's Big Bite food review! So stay tuned, Mercury Diner... I'm coming back hungry! It took about 15 minutes to get the bagel and I'm watching multiple people who ordered after me with multiple items get their food and leave while I ordered a single bagel. I eventually got annoyed and went up there and asked him what happened to my order and I guess they misplaced it or something I don't know, but eventually, my food came out I hope because it took so long it would actually be toasted to Golden, but I actually had to take the cream cheese off and see if they toasted it at all. It definitely wasn't toasted golden and again definitely not extra cream cheese. I don't feel like the order is ever that difficult but clearly they do what they want and you're just supposed to accept it. Definitely not gonna keep going here and giving them a chance after chance for them to drop the ball.
