This is a HORRIBLE location and Shay the store manager is the worst. She's been telling customers, if they leave a good review and bring a picture in of the review once we've posted it. She will give customers a free smoothie. I immediately asked, what happens if you are not here when a customer comes in with his or her photo. She said, it's okay, I've told the store employees so they will honor it. LIES, LIES and more LIES. I stopped in Friday morning (may 1st) and the two young ladies immediately said, she is telling customers that but she has not told them how to ring it up/code in the register and that they did not want to lose their jobs. They also said, she's running late today, she'll be here in 15-20 minutes. I told them, that I asked her that question and with confidence she said the employees know/will honor it. Needless to say, since I had worked an overnight and stopped in there when I got off. I tried waiting and of course she was passed the 20 minutes so I told the girls I was leaving. They were very apologetic when it wasn't their fault/their customer service was great. I did tell them to let Shay know that I was reversing my rating because her actions feel like she's hustling customers for a good rating/then not honoring what she said. A horrible way to manage a business and now she's lost a customer and I predict that location will lose some more before it's over. read more

My son wanted a smoothie that isn't offered on the Kids Menu & the staff offered to split the smith into two kids cups. (I've made this request at the Hanover location and was denied.) Once I was acknowledged I ordered my smoothie at least 6-8 people came after me and all received their food and smoothies ahead of me. Whoever complained about the granola being too large in the açaí bowls needs to reconsider their stance. Eating basically dust in my açaí bowl today was annoying. The bowie location is pretty cool, the line is always quick and they are always so nice about fixing your drinks if there is a problem. I tried the food from this location for the first time and I love the jerk chicken quesadilla. You can save by combining the drink with the sandwich. Parking is ample since this location is in a shopping center. The ambiance is quiet and clean and they usually have some great community events like flip flop day where you get a free smoothie for wearing flip flops. read more

I am a tropical smoothie customer that lives in Virginia. I ordered online as I normally do. the app normally points me to my cafe in Virginia, this morning it pointed me to one in Bowie Maryland. When I went to pick up my order in Virginia they said may be wrong cafe. I looked at my app and saw it was Bowie Maryland. I tried calling the store over and over and no one answered, even though I knew hey were open. I called later in the afternoon, someone finally answered and I asked about a refund and was told I should have called right away when it happened and I explained, I did and no one answered the phone. Then the tune changed to we already made the sandwich. The person told me I doubt if my managers will give you that money back, really an unprofessional attitude about it. It was not about the money because clearly they needed that money, but treating me as a customer and at least acknowledging the mistake. All I can say is I appreciate my Tropical Smoothie in my area when because they do bend over backwards for their customers and know how to speak to them. I love Tropical Smoothie, but this location is my least favorite. The customer service is usually lacking but I try to overlook it because the staff is mostly teens and that's just how teens are. Just glad to see them doing something productive! Today just sealed the deal that I won't be returning to this location. Usually, I do a mobile order and run in and out. Often it's not blended well enough so I have to ask them to blend it again. Very rarely am I greeted, but today I couldn't get in the door without being asked to check out a T-shirt line and when I declined I was asked to give a dollar or two. When I picked up my order I decided to get a cookie and chips. The typical no greeting but I'm used to it. It took longer than expected to check out b/c the person in front of me was having issues with her app and no one else bothered to get on the register. As I waited, I looked around to see where the loud music was coming from and there was this long speaker sitting on the table and I was just like WHERE AM I!? This isn't what I'm used to in this shopping plaza. I leave out and am solicited go again by the same young man from my entry. I really wanted to support location but I just can't anymore. They desperately need to hire better staff to run the day to day. My smoothie was made and was only filled a little more then halfway. I told the young lady who made my smoothie that it wasn't filled and she looked me in my face and said "there's nothing I can do about that". I said " can you make it over" and she told me no. It saddens me that there's no tropical Smoothie Cafe near my job! However whenever Im in the area and need a pick me up. I pay with my app to earn points or to redeem rewards. My favorite items: Bbq chicken flatbread absolutely delish. Smoothies: bahama mama minus the white chocolate Detox island: looks like blah but it does the job. Just be close to home when youre drinking it. Orange ginger glow; i recommend this when you wake up or for a morning pick me up. It definitely gives you that boost to get you going. Not sure why, but out of all of the other chains in the area, this is my favorite. The smoothies just taste better to me and it never leaves me with an aftertaste. Before this location opened, I had to high-tail it up to the Gambrills location, but no more...I can now come to the location that's much closer to me, not to mention, the location that's in my county. Score Gorgeous Prince George's!! Obviously you can order fresh - made to order smoothies, but you can also order sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads, and small side orders of fruit, etc. Pretty healthy alternative to eating out. If you're watching your weight, be sure to check the calories for the smoothies because they can sneak up on you. Additionally, try adding a scoop or two of fat burner, protein, etc. to your smoothie for a little extra boost. Check the menu for the many options. I have NO words for this location. The customer service is absolutely awful. The woman taking my order didn't even make eye contact with me at all, she seemed annoyed that I was trying to place an order. We had to ask about salad dressing for my mom's salad. They didn't put that in the bag. When we asked about the salad dressing the woman rolled her eyes and said it comes on the side yet never offered us any. We get to our destination to eat our food, there's no utensils to eat the salad and no napkins. We also were never given/offered sides and we got meals. Absolutely awful. Will NOT return. Worst experience at a Tropical Smoothie store. Placed my order online and was supposed to be ready at 12:39pm. Waited in the packed store, with over 15 other customers for my order. No social distancing or anything. Still no order. Approached the manager and asked about my order. Gave details, she reviewed my phone as if she was going to fix it. 10 mins later, still no order. Approached manager again, asked if anyone was making the order?? She looked at other employee confusingly and asked if they were making the order. At this point, I asked for refund. Before I was about to pay, she tells me it's going to be a 15 min wait. There were other customers waiting and uber eats orders had to be fulfilled as well. Also, there were only 2 people working. I understood the wait but it couldn't justify waiting for one smoothie. Also, I was in a rush. I left empty handed. Trust me when I say if they get something wrong at this location, they will fix it and ensure you're happy.
