I came here to see what the hype was about and truly enjoyed every bit of ice cream. It was my first time here and the service was great. They were patient with me including my impatient toddler lol. I was able to enjoy my banana split. I wasn't found of the frozen fruit on top though. Next time I'll just say to keep those off. The spot is pretty easy to spot. I placed an order for pick up at this location. When I arrived the crew inside was very occupied with their inside conversations that they were unaware of an order placed 15 minutes ago. When they went to make my order I overheard someone mention a peanut butter cup and quickly alerted them that that wasn't what I ordered. One of the women looked at my order again and then came to the window to say "oh we actually don't have that," so I kindly asked for a refund. She responded that she needed the physical card and I told her I don't have it so I'd need to work it out with my bank, as I wasn't going to go get it and then return to the location. I ended up emailing them to discuss the refund. I was told they needed to check the cameras (I guess to make sure I didn't leave with any ice cream). Fine. Now here we are weeks later and no refund. When I learned that we would be having a Bruster's open up in the area, it was like the skies parted.... I love ice cream, and I don't give myself a treat too often but when I do, I want the real deal. Every time that I pass by this location, it is always busy with crazy lines. Today was no different, but the lines move pretty fast. I got a waffle cone with graham central station and cookies and cream. Sounds like an odd combination, but it was awesome! Graham central station is a graham flavored ice cream with chunks of grahams and chocolate. I tasted my first bite stopped and said "Jesus loves me, oh yes he does". It was that good. Cookies and cream is just that, and it didn't disappoint, with real cookie chunks. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors, because Bruster's is the place that you should come to try different things IMHO. The staff were nice; although, I wish they would do better with keeping up with the napkins and such. Also, they need a speaker system so that people can hear when their orders are called. They have everything from ice cream sundaes, sherbet, sorbet, milkshakes, waffle cones, to just ice cream in a cup. A few benches and picnic tables are available to eat your frozen goodies, but we opted to just go home after our order was up. To be honest, I really wasn't impressed. The cookie was just average and the ice cream wasn't memorable at all. Something was salty, either the cookie or the hot fudge. Weird, I know, but it's the truth. I've patronized this locations a few time and have yet to be disappointed. The butter pecan ice cream is stellar. I'm very repetitive when it comes to ice cream. Not one to try a variety of flavors. But the butter pecan is amazing... halves of pecans, in abundance with a very lightly salted flavor in the ice cream. The servant was extremely polite and attentive, offering a variety of sizes and also inquired about added things like sprinkles and such. Very family oriented and a pleasant establishment. The manager at this location was extremely rude to me after a simple request to simply change the flavor of the ice cream that I ordered. The young lady that I requested to change the flavor of my ice cream with did not know how to handle the situation so she went to talk to the manager, the manager comes to the window, (the same window that I've been standing at outside for almost a half an hour in 90 degree heat because they closed the inside window and only have one window going outside even though there's a line down the street) very irate, rude and aggressive and asked me "what is the issue" as if I were complaining. I explained to him that I had not been given the ice cream therefore, I did not touch it and that I just wanted to exchange it for a different flavor. He proceeds to tell me in a harsh tone that the ice cream was just made. It was not hard enough to serve and they don't serve soft ice cream. I said "no problem, she could've told me that this did not warrant the need for a manager" he proceeds to yell at me and say "well she's a teenager ma'am! She's a teenager!" at that point, my children and I just walked away, and I heard him slam the window. At no point did I yell at this man or the young girl that was helping me, at no point did I take a harsh tone with either of them. my children really wanted this ice cream, but if it were not for them really wanting this ice cream. I would've asked him to refund me my money, that is how nasty aggressive and rude he was to me in front of my children over a trivial matter. Disgusting customer service. May2023: 4: I went by in the evening to get dessert after our family meal nearby. l stood in line for a while but we were eventually called for our order. Two of the ice cream selections I wanted were not available. I had to choose from what they had left in the freezer at the time. The workers were fairly quick and polite. Several choices later, were getting fatter thanks to our choices. The front of the restaurant was congested with vehicle traffic and there were no handicap parking spaces available adjacent to the front door. There was some outside seating, but it too was limited. I placed an online pick-up order with Bruster's at Bowie Towne Center in Bowie, MD. The customer service is horrid at this location. When I arrived, I greeted the cashier and told her that I was picking up an online order. She asked me my name, and when I told her she looked puzzled. She said something but she wasn't speaking loud enough. Then a man, the shift manager, walked into the store and walked towards the employee entrance of the kitchen. The cashier stopped him and asked if he received an order for me, and it seemed she wanted to say more before Jose interrupted. She was speaking low, so perhaps he couldn't hear her, but he was incredibly rude about it. He interrupted her and said, "ok but what's going on? I need more, what is it?" I told him that she asked if he received an order for my name. Then, while flashing his hands and rolling his neck he hastily says," okay but what is it, where'd you order it from? You're looking at me like..." I stopped him right there, and told him not to speak to me that way and that he was being exceptionally rude. He goes on about not knowing where the order came from as in DoorDash or "online." I told him to first apologize for his tone and mannerisms as he was being rude. He says, "ohhhh sureee! I apologize...but I wasn't being rude." Some apology that was. I told the manager that I'd ordered from the store's app, but he kept asking if it was DoorDash. I told him twice that it was the Bruster's app before he finally stopped asking and then rudely said, "oh ok...then that's online." He then says, "well we didn't get your order, and you need to ask 'them' for a refund." I'm confused about who 'them' is considering that I used the Bruster's app. He claims that's a third party (I understand the location is a franchise). The conversation became even more intense and I decided to just say okay and leave. The cashier that I was originally speaking with apologized to me and said to have a good day. When I returned home and asked if he was the store manager that I was just speaking with and he said yes, I asked for his name. He in turn asked me for my name--I just don't understand. I informed him that I was submitting a complaint to the "third party" he advised me to contact, and they're requesting the name of the "server." He tells me, "ooohhh you can have them to call Bruster's at Bowie Towne Center if they have any questions." I reiterated the need for his name. He finally tells me it. The response from customer service will determine if I return to this location. read more
