I went to Tropical Smoothie Cary. I had trouble reading the small print of the menu boards overhead. The young man walked up. I asked for a written menu with prices. I said I couldn't read the small print. He looked at me like I was crazy, pointed me to two nutrition counter signs which had no price info. He said I guess we don't have it then & walked away. I am really not sure why Tropical Smoothie gets such low reviews bc we had a great experience and will return to any location. This one happens to be on Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park right across the street from the farmers market. The place is clean and has lots of seating and even has charging stations underneath the table. Plus free WiFi and the smoothies are great. So many healthy options. And the wraps were good too. Came out warm and the chicken was juicy and the sauce was perfectly light and not salty and plenty of veges which I loved. Staff are nice and patients. read more

Thanks to T-Mobile for the free smoothie code. I was able to order my smoothie right off the app and schedule it to be available after my therapy session. My smoothie was cold, fresh and ready on time. I really enjoy Tropical Smoothie because they have more than just smoothies. Location is in the middle of Wicker Park business district of Milwaukee. There was a surprisingly decent amount of seating so definitely not a bad option if you need to get work done. Staff was efficient and friendly. Ordered a Blueberry Bliss on their app (about $8), and arrived about 10 minutes later. They had the order but hadn't started making it yet. They weren't busy, so that was odd. . . Two of three visible employees were dressed like halloween. Only one in a uniform. The young man (shown) started to make this drink for me. Oops - no strawberries on the line! Walked to the back of the store, pried open a box, and took out some strawberries. Oops! no blueberries, either! Same drill. Not moving very fast either. He then dumped like four large scoops of crushed ice into the blender. After two bouts with the blender, a different person poured it into a cup. The drink was - well, horrible. We ordered smoothies and a Thai salad. The salad was unfortunately not fresh but from a bag and the spinach and lettuce was old and soggy. It was gross. The side that you get for free was a joke. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a new discovery for me and I'm a big fan now. I've been to another branch a couple times and the food and smoothies I enjoyed at this location were just as good. So far my faves are the chicken pesto flatbread, kiwi quencher smoothie, and hurricane smoothie (which is currently a featured flavor that I expect will disappear from the menu at some point). Unfortunately, I have to dock stars for the service. Granted I came in during prime lunch hour but they were severely understaffed. The people working there were friendly but there were only 2 of them trying to serve a decently sized lunch crowd. I waited a while at the cash register to place my order but they were busy running around fixing up food and smoothies. Ultimately I realized it would be faster to order on the app so that's exactly what I did. Protip: order on the app before coming if you go during a peak hour. read more

I've visited several locations as this up and coming franchise has been popping up everywhere! Waited to finally post a review as I was interested in comparing locations. First and foremost, quality ingredients are used in their smoothie concoctions, however it is important to note a few key details. They only serve one size, which is 24 oz so you are forced to go with one selection, or a one size fits all, unless it's from the kids menu. Secondly, the prices are a little on the steep side, especially if you select add-ons, including Splenda, protein powder, or fat burners. You'll certainly walk out with paying $20-25 for two smoothies, unless you sign up for the tropic rewards program you can earn points for some benefits if you frequent the store. Service needs some improving, staff seems to be unorganized and sometimes discombobulated, store in Norridge always seems to be out of change, and other locations expect a delay even if the store is not busy. If you are looking to curb your sweet tooth on somewhat of a healthier level, certainly give it a shot, just with certain expectations. read more

Waited an extra 10 minutes when I ordered ahead of time and I arrived when food was supposed to be ready, making it a total 35+ min for them to make my order. The restaurant had 2 customers already eating and one other online order ahead of me with about 4 people working behind the counter. On top of that, when I was given my smoothie, it was drenched and completely overfilled. I had to dump the contents from the top of the lid in the trash can and was only given 2 napkins from staff to clean the disaster. I finally drank my two smoothies and they weren't even blended properly, I was chewing on large pieces of ice and fruit. It couldn't even fit through the straw at times, to the point where I'm reblending my smoothies at home. The flavors on top of that are horrendous, watery and no flavor.
