June 1st around 7:33 PM, me and my friend visited Tropical Smoothie Cafe. He ordered a Bahama Mama and asked if white chocolate was included. While it may have seemed like a simple question, customers should still be treated with respect when asking about menu items. Unfortunately, one of the employees forgot to turn her mic off and we could hear the two female employees speaking negatively about his question. When we got to the window, we were not greeted. The employee took the payment, repeatedly shut the window abruptly, and when she returned with the drink, she handed it out without saying a word. As someone who is loyal to Tropical Smoothie Cafe and recommends it often, I was disappointed by the lack of professionalism and customer service during this visit. I hope this experience can be addressed so future customers are treated with more kindness and respect. read more

This is located in the Palladium shopping center. This is very busy area. No line through the drive-thru which is always a Plus! Tried a new meal here ...grilled chicken quesadilla with tomato salsa. The meal was cooked to order! Dipping the quesadilla into the salsa was a great complement to the meal. The Avalacada was the Perfect drink mixed with Pineapple / Spinach/ Avocado/ And Kale. While I really love the smoothies here, it's kind of overshadowed by how slow they are. It was about 15 minutes from the time I pulled in to the time I got my smoothie. I've bought so much from here and actually mentioned it to Tropical Smoothie themselves, and it didn't seem to matter. The service is fine. Once in a while, you get someone at the window who's very friendly. Occasionally, I've gone inside, and it's still slow. It just seems like they're not in a hurry. Not much ambiance, it's just a place to grab a bite to eat. I usually get the Beach Bum smoothie and chicken pesto flatbread. Both are pretty good. If it was faster and the workers seemed like they cared more, I'd give it a better review. read more

Sometimes, the employees are what you want them to be: teenagers with a good attitude, trying to make your order with a smile; but sometimes you get someone who is probably ready to walk out bc it is fast-paced work back there. Employing at these places can be tough, so I don't hold that against them. In the summer, it can take an incredibly long time, but that's because they're busy, bc a lot of ppl come here, bc it actually TASTES GOOD. I have only gone through the drive thru twice at this location. It's right across from Chick-Fil-A in a small parking lot. Their smoothies are probably a 3.5/5 rating for me. So, their smoothies are pretty good for being a chain place. The customer service: The first time I went here was about a week ago. I went through the drive thru and asked the girl what smoothies had açaí in them. She was pretty rude and told me 1 smoothie that had açaí in it and told me the total and to pull forward with a cold tone to her voice. When I got to the window, excited for my smoothie!!, she had so much attitude while taking my payment and I could tell she was forcing herself to try to not be completely mean to me. I'm assuming she may have been having a bad day, but half the experience when you go to places is about the customer service in my opinion. I won't be coming back to this place with how unwelcome I felt. Plus I'm not a fan of how much sugar they put into their smoothies. BUT! If you're looking for a place that has decent smoothies and bad customer service doesn't bother you, then I'd recommend to give this place a shot. The food has always been fresh and great each time. Since I'm pescatarian, and their main option for protein is chicken I opt for the hummus and veggie wrap each time with the kale apple slaw. The only reason I don't give five stars is because the slaw container has been mostly empty each time. This time and the last, I mentioned it and it was immediately replaced with one that is full. The container is not big at all so a full one is a reasonable sized portion but not when it's half empty. I went to Tropical Smoothie specifically to try the watermelon Mojito smoothie but unfortunately they did not have the watermelon. I then opted for the starfruit smoothie but yet again they did not have the ingredients! I love this restaurant chain as a whole but this location doesn't know how to handle a drive thru line and a dine in crowd. Two of us went in while there were only 2 other people inside and it took 15 minutes for our food to come out all the while we never received our smoothies. After reminding them twice and seeing them give smoothies to 3 parties significantly behind us, they finally started to work on our smoothies....turns out they kept giving ours to the drive thru line. I ordered a turkey bacon ranch sandwich "meal" (if you can even call it that) that came with one side item. Side item options include a small kale and apple salad, "fruit medley" cup, a piece of whole fruit, or a bag of chips. I chose the fruit cup. WRONG. CHOICE. The fruit cup was a mushy, soggy mess made up of old, withered pieces of fruit. "Medley" is a stretch for what it was. There were two triangles of an apple mixed in with pieces of what I think were once pineapples. Had I eaten the fruit cup... there were maybe, MAYBE two spoonfuls in the container. I should have went with the bag of chips. The sandwich, while good, was ludicrously small. The ciabatta bread was delicious and the turkey was wonderfully moist. I just wished there was more of it to enjoy. Since "meals" don't come with drinks, I ordered a Sunrise Sunset smoothie which was a blend of strawberries, pineapple, mango, and orange juice. The smoothie was refreshing, delectable, and nicely blended. All smoothies are 24 oz and cost around 5 bucks which isn't a bad deal. In summary, I spent around $11 for my meal. I wanted something light today for lunch so I popped in to Tropical Smoothie Cafe. It is in the old Bruesters location at the palladium in High Point. The outside has patio seating and a drive thru. Inside they have minimal seating. The menu offers a variety of sandwiches and flatbreads along with smoothies and a few side items. There is also a small breakfast sandwich menu. Prices are good averaging $4-6 for sandwiches and $2-4ish for smoothies. I ordered a half sandwich and a smoothie combo. It was very delicious. I ordered for my sandwich a chicken salad with cranberries and pecans and apples on a grain bread and a avocado tropical smoothie to drink. For my daughter I ordered a peanut butter and banana flatbread. She loved it. The atmosphere was clean and contemporary. Servers were pleasant and attentive. Although this was their first official day of opening both drive thru and inside dining, I would suggest the servers be trained more on menu items. I had questions about what came in certain smoothies that the server repeatedly had to ask her superior about. Also they need to work on a better system for the line. The space is minimal behind the line and where they prepare the food and it was like each employee didn't know their part. When I pulled up today I saw three employees outdoors having a conversation, I asked them if they were open for business and they said certainly and so I parked and made my way to the door. Upon walking up to where they were I realized they were having a very loud heated conversation. Apparently their was an issue with an employee that the managers were having to discuss. I would suggest in the future they maybe have these types of conversations in a more private location as to not deter future customers. I have waited 15 minutes in the drive thru line the past two times, and the first time I had to leave because the wait was so long. Any place with a drive thru should have cars through within minutes, not twenty. And I've seen multiple cars leave the line also because of the wait. AWFUL wait most of the time.
