An excellent deli that is always bustling. The food is tasty and they serve a wide variety of sandwiches along with chips, carrots potato salad and the like. I particularly like the egg salad and find it to be the best in town. Parking can be dicey but the food is worth it.

If you are craving a fresh, flavorful sandwich with high quality ingredients, then look no further than this cozy and friendly deli. Over the decades, I've enjoyed many delicious sandwiches and salads. But on this trip, I was craving rare roast beef. This simple sandwich was full of flavor and quite lovely to look at. The service is always efficient and fast, even during their busy lunch hours. They have a good variety of sides and the macaroni salad was perfect with my roast beef sandwich. The parking lot is small and with limited spaces especially during lunch. Go early or for a late lunch, you won't be disappointed. Great value and great quality.

Finally decided to check out First Carolina! I have lived near it for years and have heard great things about it. I ordered a wildwood sandwich and a beer. Both were delicious! The sandwich had great flavor and came with a good amount of chips and carrots as sides. The outdoor seating area was perfect on a nice spring day. You should definitely check this place out!

I've been coming to First Carolina Delicatessen for over a decade. Since I don't live close to Spring Garden anymore I don't get to come nearly as much as I would like. Luckily I was close by on Thursday and got to dine in. It looks just as nostalgic as it always has and the food was just as delicious as it's always been over the years. The restaurant was clean and the staff is so friendly and personable. I don't think they know a stranger and it made my dining experience that much more enjoyable. My boss and I both got the Arlington, which has been my go to forever, and we were both in heaven. If you're looking for a good quality deli sandwich that's simplicity lets the quality of the ingredients shine through, this is the sandwich for you.

Italian Sub!

#1 deli in Greensboro and for that matter, in the Triad! Great sandwiches and great service! The staff is always friendly. Pick from a menu item with the option to customize any sandwich to your liking. My go to's are the Skydog of the Italian, both of which I enjoy hot but I have never had a sandwich from First Carolina Deli that was bad. Try the sister deli Lox Stock and Bagel on Battleground also!

I haven't been to First Carolina Deli in years but I'm happy to say it's still as delicious as I remember. The deli is unassuming and cozy with lots of casual table and booth seating. I had a make your own cold deli sandwich and the roast beef was beautifully thin and rare. It's served with a bag of chips (or carrot sticks) and a crunchy dill pickle slice. I also got some homemade gluten free peanut butter cookies. They were soft and yummy. I forgot until I was getting ready to leave that they have a large variety of Dr Brown's sodas. I'm not much of a soda person but I love Dr Brown's black cherry and even better they had the Diet version. What a special treat. If you want a delicious deli sandwich definitely hit up this spot, you won't be disappointed!

Tasty surprise

This was my first visit and I went for a birthday lunch with my family. They were fabulous from the moment I opened the door. Very accommodating for the little one we had with us. They kept our cups full and made sure we were happy throughout the visit. I would highly recommend checking this place out. Parking might be tight during lunch. They also surprised me with a cupcake.

Everything. Service was prompt. Food was delicious. Atmosphere very informal, like a deli should be.

My husband and I were in downtown Greensboro on a Saturday afternoon and decided to hit this place up for lunch. When they called the place The Bodega, they really mean it's a bodega. It's decked out like a small convenience store from the second you walk in. We ordered our food at the cash register to eat at one of their tables outside. The cashier brought our sandwiches out about 10 minutes after ordering. I ordered the Turkey Caesar. It had turkey, shaved parmesan, marinated cherry tomato, house-made Caesar dressing, onion, and romaine lettuce in an 8" sandwich roll. It was a little pricey at $15, but it was worth the splurge. The dressing and parmesan cheese were unbelievable! Since this is in downtown Greensboro, there is no dedicated parking lot but we easily found street parking nearby. The place has a few tables outside for customers to enjoy their food. If you're looking for a good sandwich, I highly recommend checking The Bodega out.

But I finally made it back--and I'm glad I did. Service was great. Our server was attentive, intentional, and checked on us just the right amount without being overbearing. It was also nice to sit somewhere that wasn't overly crowded--made the whole experience more relaxed. The food is simple, but good--and the prices are very reasonable, which I always appreciate. I switched it up this time and tried the burger instead of my usual Italian club (which my fiancé ordered), and it did not disappoint. The burger was solid and the fries were really good. One small thing--I remember the bread being toasted the first time I came, and it didn't seem like it was this time. Not a big deal, but something I'll probably double-check on my next visit. Overall, Jay's Daily is a dependable spot for a quick, easy lunch. Definitely one of those places you can count on when you just want something good without the fuss. I'll be back again soon (hopefully without getting distracted this time ).

Added my toppings and dressing and sat down to eat. Very pleased with my meal and the chocolate mousse was excellent. Went for round two and was dismayed to see they had not properly cleaned the tray and had left food particles on it. Not a huge deal because I was putting my food on the plates, but it's the little things. No complaints on food for round 2. Got more mousse and was able to get lettuce this time. An employee had been working on stocking the salad bar while I ate my first plate and continued during my second. While I ate my second serving someone I assume may have been a manager of sorts came out and was giving the employee stocking feedback. I then watched the manager start filling containers by ADDING THE REFILL ON TOP - no rotating, no changing containers, just adding on top. Not acceptable. Seating is and always has been cramped in here. I had to weave around tables to get to my seat. We also saw someone have their sunglasses knocked off their head by someone exiting to the patio because their table was that close to the door. The gentleman picking up trays and plates was smiling and quick. It was nice to see!

However, the salad bar is reliably a good idea (for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike) when dining in. Also, they do baked potatoes! At my last visit, I got grilled cheese and tomoto soup. The rye bread was delicious and so pretty with its swirling rye marbling. However, there wasn't nearly enough cheese in the sandwich. Also, the tomato basil soups tasted like mass produced soup from a bag (think Panera). I was grateful to have an easy veg option, but it was just alright. The space was big and had a lot of tables. Also, there were a couple of employees who were bussing tables quickly, which was awesome. To me, this is a spot to eat in a pinch and not somewhere to sit and enjoy a meal. Overall, not great and not terrible. So three stars is where I'm landing in my review.

The good news? It's worth it. I had the Reuben, which was excellent, along with a pasta salad that was surprisingly good. I also sampled the artichoke crab dip, and it was easily appetizer-worthy. Today I stopped in for a to go order, but next time I plan on enjoying the patio with my pup Ziggy and try one of their burgers. I ordered the Madison Avenue which is a croissant smeared with honey walnut cream cheese, smoked turkey, and granny smith apples. My side was slaw and I also ordered fries with a side of ranch. Upon walking in the place appeared clean, the customer service, not the best. But maybe someone was having a bad day, I get it. I'm so glad I did check my bag before I left because they did not give me ranch or plasticware, man I would have missed out on some amazing ranch. The young man gave me three ranches which I'm so disappointed I only grabbed one. Unfortunately I didn't get the best pictures but the food tasted great. The fries were thick cut (probably frozen) and let me tell you, I would just come back for the ranch! They have my favorite restaurant ranch. The slaw was really tasty - good ole southern sweet mayonnaise slaw, not too vinegary. The sandwich, not bad, good combo of toppings, they paired well together. I' ll be back. Anyone want to go for a patio lunch? Ciao for now
