I have tried their Smoothies in the past at another location. I purchased a peanut butter cup smoothie that was disappointing. Customer service was nice, service was fast, but the flavor was below average. I felt the smoothie lacked thickness and can't say it tasted like a peanut butter cup. The service has gone down since Tropical Smoothie opened and I fear I'll have to stop going altogether. Recently I was recommended to try the Island Green Detox I was skeptical but usually enjoy a good referred smoothie. Upon tasting the smoothie I instantly knew that I wasn't a fan and wanted my usual. They informed me that I was not able to exchange it for free but they could add sugar. Since when can they not replace a smoothie if you don't like it upon their suggestion. They brought the manager out and she flatly said no they would not replace it but they could add sugar to it to make it sweeter. The manager here doesn't not wear gloves and mask while preparing my food. After I noticed I pull him to the side and asked him why he wouldn't follow covid-19 instructions. He replied that he was training a new partner that was getting on his nerves because he couldn't hear. I explained that it wasn't a good enough excuse to ignore health guidelines. I live right around the corner and tonight I called tropical smoothie at 8:40pm to place a to-go order. Yes, it was very close to closing time, but I asked the rep if it was too late to place a to-go order, since the online app did not allow me to apply my coupon that was from a local magazine I received. The rep said "yes, it's too late to place an order. Sorry." I still had 20 minutes until closing. I understand that the reps are tired & want to go home. However, from working in food service for a number of years, I have always followed the rule of "you service the customer until closing." This could have been an extra sale towards closing time, and it's a little sad that they would say no to a customer. As a loyal Tropical Smoothie customer that would drive out of the way and wake up early just to drive all the way to the Bowie location 1-2 times per week before work I was excited to hear that the Laurel location was coming. I went in yesterday on opening day and got my usual Sunrise Sunset which was ok. I think over time the smoothies will be perfect. However, I went back today to get smoothies for my pending snow day tomorrow and had to spend $7 to unlock my five dollar reward. So I bought a smoothie and two cookies before ordering my second "free" one. While waiting for my smoothies I realized I wasn't given/didn't grab my cookies so I went and grabbed the two I purchased. There was a pregnant young lady that wasn't behind the counter but sitting at one of the tables who helped two girls pick up their online order at the time I went and got my cookies. After helping them she approached a gentleman who seemed to maybe be an owner or district manager and questioned whether or not I paid for the cookies. She then went to the manager and did the same. After spending money on two smoothies I would hate to think that I would steal .99 cent cookies. But while I somewhat understand that still didn't make me feel welcomed or like I want to come back and spend more money here. Very disappointed! I made an order last night from Tropical Smoothie. The driver was taking forever to come and the app kept saying the food was still being prepared. This is an hour later. I call tropical smoothie to see it said was still preparing the food after an hour had gone by. The woman My fiancé spoke to laughed when he asked "how long has our food been sitting there?" She replied "45 minutes (still laughing)". He asks her if she can remake the food so the food is fresh when the driver arrives. She said "it's not our issue, but Uber's." So I took the phone and I said "as a restaurant, whether fast food or 5 stars, they would never serve food to their customers that has been sitting for an hour and it's not the customers fault." She then proceeded to say, "we can't make your food again because we will lose our money for making it again." I HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS IN MY ENTIRE LIFE I HAVE EVER HEARD SICH BULLSHIT FROM ANY RESTAURANTS THAT INHAVE ORDER FOOD, whether in person or delivered. And I replied, "if you have a problem Serving fresh food to customers then let me speak to the manager." She said she was the manager and that she was not going to make the food again for us because she already hit ready for the Uber driver and it's Uber's problem. Again, I asked her, "As a manager, you are ok with serving old food that has been sitting? You are ok with this food being picked up and delivered knowing the Smoothies were already melted because they have been sitting for 45 minutes and serve cold food?" She said, "the food should still be warm and that they will lose money if she makes it again And it's Uber's problem so cancel it". Yea like I'm going to cancel my order for $24 dollars. So I said to her, "You're disgusting and ridiculous. I will make a formal complaint to Tropical Smoothie for your unprofessional, disgusting behavior with being ok serving old food and that I needed her name." She proceeded to say "have a nice day" and hung the phone up on me. Very disappointed and that phony manager needs to be fired or penalized for her unprofessional behavior. She could have simply said "you know it's almost 9pm, you ordered your food at 7:45pm and it's 8:45pm, how about we make the food and if you'd like you can pick it up If the driver doesn't arrive before 9pm because we don't want to serve you old food and if you able to pick up, great. We will let the Uber driver know." And guess what no one would really lose money. Just disgusted that this supposed manager was tripping over a $11-15 dollar order when the food ended up being thrown away anyway because Uber never came to deliver. SO NEVER GOT MY FOOD! Total asshole and I will never order again from here. I'll stick to my classy Bethesda Tropical Smoothie that knows about customer service and will fix things even when Uber messes it up. Can't believe that woman was apparently a manager. Sounded like some high school kid. You need to do better. Staff proper people and make your freaking customers happy. Tropical Smoothie Laurel Md has a terrible manager, that is degrading and no regard for customer service. I was charged twice by an employee and the employee ( who was apologetic and friendly) assured me if both transactions post to come back and he will get it corrected. Both transactions did in-fact post. I went back and the same employee got the manager to correct. The manager proceeded to tell me that I was basically lying even after I showed him my receipt and the two transactions posting to my account. He spoke to me and insisted I knew nothing about banking and his system would never charge anyone twice. At the end he decided to give me money back through a free smoothie and breakfast sandwich, which the friendly employee told me that they didn't have all the ingredients to but the manager over spoke him and insisted it was fine. Came here after my nightly workout! My first time at this establishment was very unpleasant and not because of the food but because of the staff. I looked at the menu and I walked up to the cashier, but was not greeted. I proceeded to place my order with a young lady (probably my age) who had the worst attitude and did not say one word to me. I asked a few questions about the menu, but she did not provide any informative answers, as if I was bothering her. I got my smoothie and it was very good and refreshing. I sat down and enjoyed it with my friends and not even 5 minutes later, the same cashier started yelling for everyone to get out because they were closed. I understand that retail and food locations have a closing time but if you have customers still eating and drinking it's rude to kick them out in that matter. Tropical Smoothie has the best smoothies but the Wraps are the worse. they load them up with veggies and very little meat. I had the Wrap the day prior that was made by another employee and it was great but when made by the owner's family, it was the pits. It was as if she was skimping to save a dollar or the employee the day prior was overloading the chicken. Either way, they should be consistent. One good note is the cleanliness but they even charge $.50 for extra sugar. In fact, after looking at other reviews and noticing who is answering to them all, I recognized the lady as being in the store that afternoon. She was taking pics with her family. It is refreshing to see her there with her family. If she trusts the place, I trust the place! Let's fix those Wraps. I almost returned it but, I was already home and it was raining. Yes, I left my house that day for Tropical Smoothie ONLY. Which is the reason for my disappointment. I am a regular customer, So regular that the cashiers can recite my order as I make it.
