Only giving 2 stars because the staff was working their butts of getting orders out and it was busy. This location is in dire need of a remodel. It's nasty and dirty inside. I order an item that had black beans and when I noticed it didn't have black beans I asked for black beans to be added. I overheard the staff discussing it and they had them in the back but were not available so they said they were out so I ordered another item and waited over 15 minutes for the replacement item. My smoothie tasted off, like an ingredient was missing. It's always hit or miss at this location. read more

I don't eat meat/dairy, and TSC's (non-dairy) Orange Ginger Glow is one of my favorite things. My really thoughtful Mom stopped in to order me one as a surprise treat this morning to drop by the office, and asked for an "Orange Glow" ... there was apparently some confusion between the employee and manager about whether Mom really meant an "Awesome Orange" even after she said, "No, my daughter calls in an Orange Glow." Long story short, my surprise smoothie treat has yogurt in it. First World Problem, I know; but good thing it's only a dietary choice and not a food allergy. Absolutely the worst location! They move so slow & I'm talking sloth slow, with no regard to their customers time. I had 15 mins to get in & out which shouldn't be an issue since they are considered "fast food". After 5 mins in line with only one person in front of me someone walks over to take their order. After an additional 10 mins of waiting for my smoothie, the only thing I ordered, I asked where it was & was met with attitude. I asked for a refund or my smoothie because I was late & had been waiting for 10 mins already. Got my smoothie about 2 mins later. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time something like this has happened but it's definitely the last time I'll go in there. Their bathrooms are so gross & there are flys all over! I will start by saying that I used to love this place! However that all changed today when some coworkers and I decided to get takeout from this location. We ordered our food and I went to pick it up. When I arrived I noticed that the cafe appeared dingy and the huge fish tank that used to be up front was empty and had some graffiti on it. There was about 4 customers there at this time and 4 employees. The employees seemed to be more interested in socializing with each other rather than doing their jobs. They were talking loudly about their personal lives and standing around leaving the one girl at the register who seemed very sweet a little over whelmed. I wanted to pay separately for our orders and was told I couldn't do that. The employee said she would go and get her manager to see if she could explain to her how to do it. Well the manager never came out and when the girl came back she said something about voiding and re ringing the food. I had already been waiting for about 20 mins so I just said that was fine. I finally received my food after 35 mins of waiting. The staff seemed very inefficient and definitely not knowledgable. When we opened our sandwiches, we were less than thrilled, they were topped with what looked to be old wilted lettuce and were basically flat as pancakes, the contents of the sandwiches were so sparse that my one coworker could barely even see any chicken salad on hers. (I am posting a pic of the sandwich so everyone can see how bad it was) I called the store and talked to the manager, I didn't want free food from them bc honestly I'm never going back. However she offered for us to come back and receive a meal on the house, I replied that I just wanted the staff to be properly trained and know that they messed up. I have 13 years experience in the food service industry and never write horrible reviews bc I know all too well that a business can have an off day, but this was just too horrible and unprofessional to not share so others don't waste their hard earned money at this establishment. The manager replied that in the staffs defense most of them were new.....well if that was the case why were they left unattended to just try and run things by themselves without the supervision of a senior staff member and second of all anyone with a shred of common sense could've looked at that sandwich and seen that it was not remotely even close to being something you should serve to a paying customer. I previously loved tropical smoothie and am so disappointed that I wasted $11 on food that I couldn't eat. I doubt that even if we took the manager up on her offer which none of us are, that the food would be any better bc the employees seem to just not care at all. Maybe the owners will see this and do something about it since when I called corporate I was told I had to fill out some online form to be called back. read more

Whomever the guy with the colored hair is needs to work on his customer service skills. He completely ignored me when I stated I was picking up an online order. First I want to mention that I love Tropical Smoothie! I love being able to order things on my phone and then pick them up at the time i choose to! The location on Midlothian TPKE near Chippenham PKWY has been awesome! That being said the app for the Commonwealth Center (Hull/288) does not always work and when I finally got it to work my order was cancelled for an unknown reason 10 minutes before my selected pick up time! I ordered an hour before so timing was not the issue! Also it was just smoothies because the app would not let me order a combination meal, so the oven being broken like it has been in the past at the Commonwealth location wasn't it either! I didn't bother going in to order in person because service has been ridiculously slow and waiting 15-20 minutes with a toddler is not fun!!! The location on Courthouse Rd near Midlothian TPKE is also painfully slow. This prevents me from going to Tropical Smoothie and have to choose something different often!!! Please fix your app and do whatever needs to be done to speed up the process! Maybe talk to Chick-fil-A because they have their take out orders down to a science, the workers always have a smile on their face and thank you for your business!!! read more

This place needs a lot of work. Needs to be updated, it's extremely run down looking inside. Has a big beautiful fishtank that used to have fish, now just collects dust. One of their doors was broken for 2 and a half months before it was fixed. Will usually take around 15 minutes to get one Smoothie on a slow day. Employees are rude, never greet you, act like you are an annoyance by coming in and making them have to work. Wait time for food is always awful. Has a lot of potential in being the only one around here but it really needs help. read more

Great smoothies and you can add supplements to them (ie, Vitaminc C, Energizer, etc). The wrap I had was good. Good lunch specials to where you can ge a combo like smoothie and 1/2 sandwhich. I'll definitly be back for more! read more

Customer service at this location is awful. They have one speed. SLOW. No matter how many customers are in the store, as I have been there while there is many, but my review is based on my experience as I was the only customer there. I arrived at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday. No employees available to assist me, but I I could see 4 employees in the back area. I waited. Finally someone came out to help, while walking up to the front at a snails pace, she continued to chew whatever she had in her mouth at the time. Arrived at the register still chewing just staring at me. I had plenty of time to decide what I wanted. I proceeded to give her my order while she finished chewing. While I was speaking, she finished chewing, interrupted me and said, "Welcome to Tropical Smoothie, can I help you?". I think we are beyond that point, but thank you for rudely interrupting me. Finished placing my order and I confirmed their phone number, 763-2900. I had tried calling in my order prior to arriving, but the line was not working. It brought me to an automated Verizon wireless mailbox service. I explained this issue to her. Her response was less than helpful and offered no follow up or problem solving. "Really, I'm pretty sure it's working, I called the number this morning." It took another ten minutes to get my drink and sandwich, as chatting about their plans after work was more important than completing my order in a timely fashion. Each of these establishments are usually owned and operated separately. I would never go back to this location, and highly recommend the owner/manger retrain their employees and visibly provide their name/contact information for future complaints. I was reading peoples yelps, I will agree with the long wait and very confuse staff. The Long waits are for those Sugar and lots of Ice GMO Drinks. Nothing is healthy about them, they add 1/2 cup of pure white Sugar to one drink a non organic already frozen fruit..And what is that powder they call vitamins? eek!!, Dont like there drinks at all.. Putting this location on blast - this is the third time I've gone and the cashier not ask if I have the app on my phone. With every order, they are supposed to scan your phone so that you can accumulate reward points. Ordered 2 smoothies to go, 4 people came in behind us and ordered sandwiches and smoothies. From the looks of it these guests were friends with the young ladies working behind the counter and therefore received preferential treatment as they all received their food and smoothie before us. There were about 6 different people working this shift, one out "cleaning", one in the back, and 4 behind the counter, every single one of them moved at a snails pace. There was no friendly, welcoming 'hello what can I get for you', just 3 tweens hovering over the cash register with blank stares. Extremely poor customer service; no drive, enthusiasm, or work ethic was put on display whatsoever. There is no reason to return to this establishment. read more
