I walked in this past Thursday at around 6:55pm to an empty ordering counter. It took about a minute for a young lady with a hoody to pop up from the back of the kitchen. She walks to the counter and proceeds to fix her hair throughout taking my order. Another employee pops up to begin to make my smoothie. I ordered a Chia Banana Boost and asked for it to be well blended. When I got into my car, the smoothie was so thick, I couldn't get anything up the straw. Big chunks and clearly not enough water or ice. Unprofessional young kids working there and very little care for what they are serving. I do not like to give young workers bad reviews but this was too bad not to share. read more

I was skeptical about the bad reviews at first, but you can trust those. We ordered a quesadilla and it was being put in a box VERTICALLY. As a result they were all stuck together. The girl that made our order literally rushed so she can jump onto her phone in the back. Which was exactly what the reviews described. Very nasty attitude. No "please" no "thank you". When I asked the workers questions they just gave a bland "ya" "ok" like they are talking to strangers at their school. If you are wondering, yes, this place is ran by angry teenagers who simply does not give two crap about the business or the customers. From the minute they clock in they are looking forward to clocking out. You know what? Tropical Smoothie Cafe ain't getting enough love. This place serves you healthy, customizable bowls, wraps, and salads and they're serving you up the yummy stuff too. It's a top secret thing, apparently, but if you are vegetarian/vegan, they offer a straight-up meat-free wrap/bowl option. If you're looking for something with a little more bite, they have the no-meat "chick'n" you can sub/add to anything. It's boss! I don't get here nearly as often as I like, but they are quick, you can even order ahead, and their food is consistently good. Show some love to your local TSC! This was my first time coming here and I can't wait to go back! Pros: We had the Caesar chicken wrap, which was really delicious. The wrap was lightly toasted and made it crispy. My wife and I split the wrap since we each got a smoothie. She had the strawberry kiwi smoothie and I had the acai berry smoothie. The smoothies are huge and we couldn't even finish them with the half wrap each! We saved the smoothies to finish the next day, and it still tasted amazing a day later. I order from here all the time. I love their triple oat berry or island green smoothies, and their Buffalo chicken wrap. You can substitute plant based chicken in anything, and it tastes great! I get salt and vinegar chips, but they have a good selection of sides. They have lots of wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, and of course smoothies. They even have snickerdoodle cookies! Reviews at the other TSC locations in the area rave about the great food as well as the smoothies, so I decided to stop in for lunch. So I went up to the very colorful counter and ordered a turkey bacon club from the disinterested teenager at the register, along with chips and a drink -- which came out to more than $9. A couple of minutes later my name was called by the second disinterested teenager and I brought my sandwich back to the table [see photo]. It was warm and tasty, but I left unsatisfied. The turkey was prepackaged deli meat and the sandwich overall was just too small for the price point. I thought that the size would be okay -- lately I have been trying to watch my portion sizes and after the initial difficulty, my body adapted to the smaller servings and I was filling up on less and less food. And yet, I was more hungry after this $9+ sandwich than I normally would be after a $6 6-inch sub combo at Subway. There's a pizza company that caters to our workplace once a week or so, and if he hadn't run out of pizza right before I got back, I would have brought a slice back to my desk. But as I said, the food tastes good as long as you have a very small appetite. Miracles can happen. A young couple has bought this location!!!! I had been there in 6 months but out lack of options, I wondered in back in June, I noticed a change for the good but chalked it up to luck-thinking the previous owner was still in place. Thank goodness I was wrong, he is gone and now I am back in the fold. I noticed today when I was ordering there was a photo up of him and his wife saying now locally owned and operated. I asked him if they were the new owners and he said yes we just got this place in June. I told him that was the best news I've heard this year. He also is there on the day his wife delivered their new baby boy, wow. Already the customer service is amazing but more importantly the smoothie's flavors and the food are a 180, the last owner was awful. these two people are going to bring it back to what Tropical Smoothie should be... Do yourself a favor, stay away. If you must go only get a smoothie. If you venture outside of smoothie territory you're on your own. The food is terribly prepared and hastily presented. The restaurant is Always in disrepair and it's never clean. I live by this tropical smoothie and take my kids there for the smoothies but when they have gotten the food it's really terrible. I vowed after yesterday not to go back and just to go to smoothie king or some other place. It's amazing what cleaning a few tables might do. Also the place seems very hollow like it is temporary only. Don't forget to order your smoothie for 3.99 after you make your 25.00 purchase as the employees won't give it to you after you have paid. I wasn't going to complain, but after being in a hurry during a school day in May to bring my daughter lunch, 12:45 during rush, 2 employees went in the back and vaped in the office and me being late I'm annoyed. Now really..this place is obviously ran by high schoolers, where this is their first job, they are super uninterested in greeting you and stare with that blank stare until you decide to spit out your order, then they will probably mess it up. BUT, you'll probably get an extra smoothie or sandwhich out of that. If you ask for "No tomatoes"..it will probably come with extra tomotoes. I used to be a Tropical Smoothie die hard. It was one of the first things I looked for after changing jobs/locations. I've actually been to this particular location one other time but didn't recall the "issues" until we stopped in again for second lunch, err...snack. Unfortunately, this location didn't have any menus accessible so we had to stand at the counter to stare up at the over-sized menu above the registers. Since they have changed their menu (AGAIN) it must have taken me too long to decide what to order because the cashier was full of sighs. I have always gotten the Hawaiian Breeze smoothie and a half hummus veggie (sandwich) deal because I can easily fill up on the smoothie but figure I should eat something, too. Due to the menu change and impatient staff I got flustered and ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch (read: anti hummus veggie). It wasn't bad, just disappointing. The flavor was salt; not turkey or bacon. Just salt. The BF ordered a Chipotle Chicken Club flatbread and I WISH I would have taken a photo. There was, and I am being generous here, 4-5 half strips of chicken. I don't even recall any bacon but I do know we were both feeling sub-par after our visit. The smoothie was pretty much the same, though I don't imagine a 3 ingredient smoothie could change all that much. I am sure the menu gets revamped frequently for a reason but I have to assume it's because what they are producing isn't keeping their doors open. This tropical smoothie location was recently purchased by a new owner. The owner has owned and operated the location off Kirkman road for about the last 3+ years. He is not new to the company and really strives to do what's right! That being said. The prices did go up slightly to be on par with the rest of the locations in the Orlando area! Basically everything went up 30 cents. Not horrible! The cleanliness of the cafe has gotten immensely better! you may see more new faces as you come in the cafe regularly. That is bound to happen when a lot of changes come at once good or bad. First time coming here, I'm usually more of a Jamba Juice girl. I requested that my smoothie was extra thick and the girl at the front made that happen. Both girls were very friendly and my smoothie was great! Only thing I would have liked was if it was less sweet, it tasted like the juice they use is sweetened rather than just pure fruit juice. But I will be back! My smoothie was 4$ as opposed to my usual 7$ Jamba Juice smoothie. Plus the food options looked great and I'm looking forward to trying their flatbreads ! read more

For a foodservice establishment, this place is not up to par. The first thing I noticed was the entrance door and windows were dirty or not cleaned properly. They have smeared wipes all over them. The bathroom is dark and appears like it hasn't been cleaned recently. The rest of the restaurant was ok, however, the kitchen area didn't look well maintained. Discolored flooring and such. The staff didn't seem happy. I saw about four workers--they looked tired and unenthusiastic. No one smiled during the customer reaction. The food wasn't what the ads make it appear to live up to -- lacking freshness to say the least. Food usually doesn't look like it does on ads but this place appeared less visually appealing than a place like McDonalds. Are used to eat at this location several times a week. Recently they were bought out by another person after the owner fell ill. Now I don't eat hear anymore. The owner nickel and dimes you on everything and they make the sandwiches and smoothies as cheap as possible. They even bought a microwave to cook the sandwiches in so that they would come out faster but they just come out cold in the middle. read more

No customer greeting or any other pleasantries when you walk through the door or leave. The girls behind the counter were reluctant to answer any questions and seemed annoyed by the presence of customers in general, and it took twenty to thirty minutes for the food to be ready.
