I was trying you purchase an Açaí Bowl for my daughter before her soccer tournament, so I showed up just after 7am on Friday morning (sign says they open at 7am) and all the lights were off. I was on my phone trying to figure out another option when finally around 7:10 some lights came on. I went to the door (which was locked) and the woman inside refused to make eye contact for 5 minutes, at one point even walking right by me to check out a loud noise outside. Finally at 7:15am she actually acknowledged my existence only to give me major attitude yelling from behind the counter that they weren't open yet, that she was still prepping things. She was incredibly rude given that the sign clearly says they open at 7am and she was the one that was late for work. She could have politely apologized that she was running a little late, not yelled at me like I was in the wrong. I ended up getting my daughter a bagel sandwich at Cupertino's down the road instead (I highly recommend them). I'm sure my daughter will request an açaí bowl on this trip, but I don't want to give this place my business after that experience. read more

The smoothie felt a bit watery at the beginning, but slowly began to taste better after drinking it some more (probably not mixed thoroughly). Gee, where to start. Placed an order (two smoothies, two yogurt bowls and three cheese chicken quesadillas) over the phone. When I arrived to pick the order, no one was in the front of the shop for takeout. After a few minutes, I called to the back to inform the staff of customers waiting. When someone finally appeared I was told the other items she told me only drinks were order. The manager "(?) " then took the rest of the order and went to the back to have someone staff the front. I heard as she tried to get someone to complete the order, two in the back said they were on a break. After all was said, she filled the order herself. I love smoothies! Especially the island green smoothies and the sunrise smoothie! I have the app so it's a tropical breeze to order and pick up when you're in a hurry! I also grab the breakfast all American wrap for a protein packed bfast on the go! This location is just as bright and festive as their sister locations, colorful and cheerful. Yet, this one is not as fast service and is messier than some of the stores closer to my house, so I'll stick to the ones in my neighborhood! I placed an order in house for two pomegranate plunge and two Thai Chicken wraps (one with faux chicken). The cost, almost $28 when I received the pomegranate plunge smoothies one was almost full the other not so full, $28 my cup should be full or am I wrong? I shouldn't have to ask what happened, should I? The response from the employee was, "I can make more" he continued to perform his duties without making "more". I haven't been to Tropical Smoothie in years & decided to try it again since a couple of local smoothie places I would go to have recently shut down. So far I've been to this location 3 times. The first time to order to-go and the second two times I have ordered on the app. I am a huge fan of ordering on the app now that I've tried it twice. My orders were ready right when I arrived even though the store was very busy. The chicken pesto quesadilla was super good and so was the Santa Fe chicken quesadilla. If I could give zero stars, I would. Walked in for the first time to this location on 8/9/24 at 1230pm and several people were waiting for food and two workers behind the counter. The store looked trashed, messy, and staff unorganized behind the counter. We waited in line several minutes and the African American lady came up to take our order. I had several orders to place so began with the first one and she acted irritated that I was apparently taking too long to tell her my order. My daughter tried to tell me no tomatoes and she rolled her eyes and snipped at me "what side??" I think they picked the fruits fresh from the Tropical islands with how long it took them to make TWO shakes. The 'Dillas were done in a timely manner, but the shakes took 30+ minutes to finish. Moreover, there were way too many trash on the tables. Half-eaten cookies and empty wrappers. They only have 3 people, but the lady doing the cashier also did the food AND ended up helping out with the drinks too. This is not my go-to or normal location, but I find myself here on occasion when out shopping or running errands. It's a much different layout than most TSC locations, smaller IMO. The staff generally are okay-fast service but not super personable if that makes sense. No issues with my smoothies here as they are rather consistent at this location regardless of flavor I select. However, when it comes to food at this location that is where my experiences have been more inconsistent. I've just learned that places like this order what they are known for (smoothies) and leave the rest and you will remain happy. read more

This location went from 5 stars to negative 5 stars. This place is hit or miss with the smoothies and food. Some days it's good but most days it's not. It's like rolling dice. It's overly crowded during lunch time, so if your time is limited then don't go here for lunch. I have passed Tropical Smoothie many times, and I was always under the impression it just sold Smoothie Drinks and nothing else. However, I ran into a young Lady who works there and she told me how they make great sandwiches and other items.... so I thought I would check it out. I was looking for something light since it was a Hot Day here Richmond and when I entered.... I found the place very busy and also very clean. In addition, I saw a sign which said $5.99 for a Flatbread Sandwich, Chips and Drink. Not a bad price for lunch. So I looked at their menu to see what they had in the way of choices and I decided on the Chipotle Chicken Club on Flatbread. I than asked for the Jalapeno chips. I did not get a Smoothie for $2. more as I get these awful Ice Cream headaches and I knew I would have a problem with the drink, however they look delicious being served to the other customers. I am giving it 4 Stars, for a couple of reasons. The sandwich I ordered said it came it with Bacon. In fact, the sandwich had such a small piece of Bacon on it.... it would have taken a magnifying glass to see it. This was one of the reasons why I ordered this sandwich. The sandwich did not have any Bacon flavor to it at all.... In addition, the Chipotle Mayonnaise they put on the sandwich was mostly Mayonnaise... it had NO bite to it when it came to the Chipotle Flavor. Very disappointing.... In fact, my Jalapeno Chips had more bite to it than the Chipotle Mayonnaise. I posted a photo of the Chipotle Chicken Club... You will see, how there is NO Bacon... :-( So, I do not think I will order this sandwich again... Also, what was disappointing the Gentleman who took my order did not tell me about the extended menu which they carry, so I was under the impression what you saw on the board was what you could ONLY order.... Since he was the order taker, he should have asked if I had seen the extended menu which they keep in a folder. Again, after discovering this on the way out, I was extremely disappointed as I saw several other items I liked. I will go back, as the sandwich was good but not great, but at a good price. I am a rewards member and frequently get Tropical Smoothie from multiple locations in Richmond. I went earlier today and got a smoothie that was just awful. The ingredients weren't correct and the smoothie wasn't blended fully, so my straw kept getting full with big pieces of ice. I ended up taking the top off and eating my smoothie. August 31 - arrived at 8:37pm with a group of 6 family members and two young children. Manager had already given us an attitude with his facial expression. Didn't look friendly, didn't say hello. Manager asked "are you guys ready to order?" My husband replied and said that the rest of the family was still making their way in as we had young children with us as it takes some time to get them out of the car. After not even a minute later he then asked "can I at least get started on anything" as he was loudly tapping his fingers on the cash register impatiently and he kept doing it until we finally placed an order. After taking our orders we overheard the manager keep repeating to the other employees "20 minutes" (I'm assuming it means that's the time until they close) as if he was impatient to get off work. Even though we had a right to stay and eat our food we chose not to bc we understood they closed at 9pm. As we left, more people came after us at 8:58 pm. It is so sad but this place has no proper management. First if all, I've never been here before and I ordered a smoothie and a quesadilla. It's a combo with a discounted price. I was charged full price for both items. Ainsley (I hope I didn't butcher her name, this place has no name tags) rung me up and didn't say anything. As I waited for said quesadilla, I went back up to Ainsley and asked why I was rung up full price. She said since I didn't ask for the combo pricing I do not get it. Mind you, when I started ordering I let her know this was my first time here. She said the management does not allow discounts once it's been rung up. I asked to speak to the manager but the manager was not there due to a family emergency. I hope they are okay. That being said, they ought to have a person on duty to take care of the customer. I will not be returning to this store ever again! Apparently, the young girl that took my order, doesn't know how to open her mouth and greet customers, nor does she have any manners. She barely wanted to take my order and it almost killed her to stop her conversation in the back to take my order. She made my smoothie in a rush, trust me. On top of all that my Detox smoothie was a mess, it didn't have the right texture, taste, dripping all out of the container. I ended up getting a refund and made my own smoothie at home.
