The restaurant is on the smaller side and was pretty full when we arrived. We were sat at a table just behind the partition at the front of the restaurant. The chairs to the table appeared to be intentionally mismatched, two with cushioned seats and two without. We shuffled them around in order to make us both comfy. I was going to order the breakfast tacos, but I'm not a fan of the "scrambled eggs mixed with hash browns and your choice of Mexican chorizo..." I prefer all of my taco components to be separate. To that end, I ordered the El Mexicano Skillet with scrambled eggs. I substituted chorizo in place of the carnitas and requested tortillas in place of toast. Everything was perfect and I used the components to build my own breakfast tacos. It was delicious. My husband had the Two Eggs Combo and added 2 mini waffles to the meal. He enjoyed his food and the coffee very much. I ordered a mimosa flight that we shared. Every table must be cleaned and sanitized before seating guests, restaurant 101. I watched this process for the vast majority of the other tables, same towel. Sanitizer bottles and clean towels are paramount to prevent bacteria etc. The food was not hot and the bacon was cooked long ago and served at room temperature. The sausage links were the same, grill marked but cold in the middle. They offered gluten free options which were fine and appreciated. We also ordered the yucca fries, which are served with white queso. They were like regular potato fries, but more earthy and dense. One order can feed two or three people -- they're very filling, with an interesting texture. I'm glad I ordered them. The service was OK, but we had to ask for plates, even though the server saw us dripping empanada juice all over our napkins. (It's like, hello! Yes, plates would be good. Bring us plates.) I'm also not a fan of servers not writing down my order, and instead, trying to memorize everything I say. I'm not impressed! It makes me stressed! If COVID taught me anything, it's to call first to make sure the information and times are correct. I called on Friday August 21st to verify that the buffet is Saturdays and they open at 8 AM. I was informed that the information was correct. On Saturday morning, we woke up early and drove 26 miles to be there at 8 AM. At a few minutes after 8 we walked to the restaurant. There was no one in sight working. I couldn't see a cook or cashier. I did see the completely bare buffet table though. I thought, okay, it's early...we'll walk around the store and check things out for a few and come back. We came back at 8:15 and the buffet was still bare. This time there were two women talking near the kitchen so I went over and waited. When they were finished talking I asked when the buffet would be done. One lady asked the other who was walking away and going over to the buffet table and maybe turn it on? She was visibly annoyed to be answering that question. I couldn't hear what she was saying because of the noise of the grocery store but it took her like 2 minutes to answer the first woman and she relayed that it would be like another 30 minutes. The reason given was "due to the flooding". The restaurant is miles away from River Road but I didn't know what flooding she might be talking about so I thanked her and went on our merry way. After leaving the building we discussed that we might as well wait since we drove to Carmel for the breakfast buffet. So after driving around going nowhere particular since nothing is open at 8:15 we swung back around to The Farmhouse and lo and behold, the breakfast buffet table was still empty 50 minutes after the restaurant opened. Once again, there was no employee in sight. I took the video at that time. The only items out were for salads. Terrible restaurant. Very disappointed in how things were handled, the lack of service and no actual breakfast buffet. We will not try to come back here.
