Comparing this to L&L so it's gonna be a high bar. We were a fam of 5 late Saturday night so things were quiet but the service was still very nice. From assorted dishes: meats were nicely seasoned, just wish the short ribs had a little more char on them. Still very tasty, tho. The mac salad was slightly dry -I'm used to a little more mayo but, again, still tasty. Overall, the 5 dishes we ordered were a hit and we went away with happy bellies and smiles.

We were driving through Grand Junction with a hankering for Hawaiian food and found Tropix on yelp. A bit out of the way, but we can't get Hawaiian food back home, so a little detour is worth it. We dined in, as we didn't really want to eat in the car. But I do believe that this is mainly a takeout place. The lady taking our order was pleasant. She also served our food and checked back on us as well. We ordered the Katsu Chicken and the Kalua Pig. One with a side of fried rice instead of white. We also ordered a side of short ribs , because we're fatties. The Chicken was good. I think you really can't mess up Katsu. It wasn't greasy and it tasted good. The Kalua pig was just meh. It was very dry and not very tasty. The fried rice was very good and the spare ribs were good as well. All in all, it was average. Nothing to write home about but it hit the spot.

First time here . Food cooked when i ordered . Hawaiian BBQ rice plate was good but they ran out of ribs so I got more beef . Beef was a little tough but tasted good! The Hawaiian fried rice was delicious even if a little a salty. Had meat and prawns and pineapple in it !

This is how much food I am leaving because it sucks.

This is how much of $19.35 worth of food I am leaving on the table. Their "smoothie" is nothing but icemilk something with some flavor syrup, but absolutely no fruit at all. It's a watery, chalky-tasting icee, basically. I had the beef see loo I think. Bas9cally drunken noodle with beef. The beef tasted way more aged than it should and the whole dish was basically tasteless other than the slightly off beef. When I said "mild" I didn't mean completely bland with no flavor. I have nothing more to say other than that it's obvious that people here don't know what food should actually taste like. I felt completely ripped off.

BBQ mix plate!!! Omg better than L&L (I love L&L!!!) the short rib super tender, beef soft and juicy, chicken is just right my god!

BEST HAWAIIAN PLACE ON DA MAINLAND TOP 1! I got BBQ mix plate (bbq short rib, bbq beef and bbq chicken). YUM the meat is super tender and juicy and the flavors are just right!!! So good(had to order another one to go) I think the meet selection is better than L&L the short rib is very soft and juicy! The bbq beef is not dry at all super good. Better than L&L :p I'm a big fan for L&L My husband got the loco moco~ wow... they got it super authentic and right. The burger patty and gravy taste so hawaiian! Every bit is heaven!!! Cuz it's so good we order another BBQ mix plate and chicken katsu to go~ chicken katsu sauce is just the right flavor! Yes the chicken super tender and perfectly fired not dry at all! I can tell they used good chicken meat for this! We also got a tarp smoothie with boba~ not ice chucks at all, very smooth~ flavor very good! Like taro ice cream cups I had when I was little living in china :p Love this place! Will come back in the guayule every time I visit grand junction!

This place has the Hawaiian decor feel. Their food was good. I had the the chicken combo which had both teriyaki chicken and chicken katsu. Which came with a side of rice and Mac salad. My wife had the kalua pork which was surprisingly good

    Here's the menu.

It's been a while since I've been here but it was one of my favorite places in GJ. Spam Musubi in Grand Junction? Best of both worlds.

As soon as we walked in the door we were bombarded with the smell of sewage. A bug was found in our egg drop soup. Will never go back.

You will never eat brisket this good. Not only is there a well defined smoke ring - a real hallmark…read moreof great barbeque - it is still tender and juicy. I rarely order brisket, fearing choking on dry meat. But - this is a whole different thing. The flavor is there and it is fine by the slice or on a sandwich. The Santa Maria tri-tip is also tender and juicy and tastes so beefy. This feels like eating a steak. I never expected to like turkey legs - but I do love these. Good smoke flavor. It need no sauce (though if you are going to use sauce - try the wasabi!). This is a great food when you don't have a table or want to use a fork. The chicken thighs are also good, though I do take off the skin - it isn't crisp and I don't actually like poultry skin even if it is crisp. Ribs are also fall-off-the-bone tender and gently sweet and tangy from th glaze. I love the coleslaw here - it isn't too thinly cut so it stays crisp. This is in a lightly creamy sauce and is just the type of slaw that makes pulled pork sing! Tamales are really nice - filled with plenty of meat. These have just the right amount of masa. They aren't always available, so get them when you see them!

The order is the Brisket Sandwich!…read more My husband (a born and raised Texan) was craving BBQ on our way home from Moab. After a quick Yelp search, I found Smokey Bonez BBQ food truck. After a quick visit to their Instagram, I found their location. Next thing you know, two croc wearing travelers are walking into a Cattle Auction! The truck was easy to spot: bright orange! They had a menu of classic items, although a local told us they change it up. My eyes went for the Burnt Ends, while my husband ordered the Brisket Sandwich. I hate to say there was a winner of the two, but there was. The Brisket Sandwich was piled high with the perfect combination of lean and fatty brisket. It just melted in your mouth! There may have been a battle over who got the last bite haha. :D Luckily, we got the same side of Potato Salad. Although, I should have challenged my husband for the last bite of his, as well. It was absolutely delicious! Beyond the great BBQ, the owner of the truck and his family were ultra friendly and kind. It made us feel like we were back in TX for a moment. Everything you want in a BBQ experience. If you ever randomly spot the bright orange Smokey Bonez BBQ truck, GO!
