He explained the special (some sort of fish which both my wife and I thought sounded wonderful) and then let us take our time looking over the menu. When he came back, I asked him about the sautéed mushroom appetizer. He described it and we immediately ordered it. It came out piping hot, and I must say - my wife and I both were 'fighting' for each bite - it was AMAZING. The sourdough bread is fantastic (and was great to use to mop up the rest of the melted butter from the sauteed mushrooms). I ordered the bacon wrapped, blue cheese encrusted filet with the house mashed potatoes and my wife ordered the ribeye steak with the potatoes au gratin. Mine selection was pretty awesome. The kitchen burned the bacon, but the steak was done perfectly and with the blue cheese encrustment and the sauce that came with it, I just pushed the bacon to the side (note - if I had pointed this out, I have no doubt that the staff would have refired the entire plate - so that's on me). However, my wife's selection blew mine completely away. Her steak was done perfectly (medium-rare) and the au gratin potatoes were absolutely to die for (I may have stolen quite a bit from her plate). We have our favorite place in Loveland, Co (4th street chop house) and Colorado Springs, Co (Peppertree restaurant), and we've now added the Winery to that short list. He also described the filet as very lean, which while true is still a delicious cut of meat. Then he started explaining what the Oscar topping option and it was just too much, so I told him we understood the basics. Our first time, we received a description of the specials and asked if we had other questions about the menu - perfectly appropriate. We started with the bacon wrapped scallops which we've had plenty of time, but these were topped with an apricot chili sauce that totally overpowered the taste of the scallop. All you could taste was the bacon and what tasted like a barbecue sauce - not an apricot chili glaze. We'll never order those again. The steaks were perfectly cooked as always, but the baked potatoes were luke warm and barely hot enough to melt the butter and definitely not hot enough to melt the cheese. We had a show to attend so there was no time to send anything back. At this point, we're not hurrying back for another dinner for 2 with a $300 price tag, which includes a $130 bottle of wine.

We took dessert on the go. The Palisade was worth it though!

Pro tip: The Thai noodle menu is the bread and butter here. It's about 3/4 toward the back of the menu and only 1 page. I personally suggest the Pad Won Sen or the Pad Ke Mao (probably both spelt wrong) and the Won Ton Soup is excellent. I've gotten to know the staff and except when they have the 10 year old serving when they make deliveries they are all very attentive and friendly. Still the ambiance of the place is weird with Easter, Christmas, Halloween, and Redneck decor being represented here. Pretty funny actually.

From the outside, it's connected to the Ramada and doesn't necessarily look like a fancy steakhouse. But once you walk in, it has a nice Japanese-style vibe. They also have an outdoor patio with market lights that would probably be great in warmer weather. It was mid-March and cold, so nobody was sitting outside. The young man who greeted us at the front was fantastic -- very friendly and super helpful. We grabbed menus and sat near the bar for a few minutes while deciding what to order. Inside, it's set up like a traditional hibachi steakhouse with several tables where chefs cook right in front of you. There were four hibachi stations and three of them were already full when we arrived, which tells you the place is pretty popular. I only saw one chef at the time, though, and a couple more groups came in while we were waiting for our food, so hopefully they had more chefs coming on -- otherwise that could turn into a long wait. I ordered the hibachi ribeye, which came with vegetables, fried rice, and a salad. The ribeye was tender and cooked perfectly. The vegetables (carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini) were really good. The fried rice was decent but could have used a little more seasoning. The salad looked pretty basic at first -- mostly iceberg lettuce with half a cherry tomato hiding at the bottom -- but I wanted to try the ginger dressing. That dressing was actually delicious and tasted homemade, and I ended up eating the whole thing. My husband ordered one of their combo bowls with chicken and fried rice, which he said was very good. He chose the miso soup instead of salad, and that was the only miss of the meal. It didn't really taste like the traditional miso soup we're used to. Overall, the food was very good and the service from the host made a great first impression. If we pass through Grand Junction again, we'd definitely consider stopping here again.
