I went to The Peppermint Club for the first time to watch an Afro beats artist. I went here for Janelle Monae's pop up, so any logistical stuff on that side is not reflected in this review at all It was super packed (probably a fire violation, tbh) you had to find a place and just stand there, so I can't speak to cleanliness or anything. Literally couldn't see the floor and if I'd had to go to the bathroom, I'd have just held it. The venue is really cute. Very tiny and intimate. Probably hard to have a "bad seat" unless you're super short. The bar takes up a great deal of the space, and the bar also encompasses my issues with this venue. Flat out, the service sucked and I feel my bartender was biased. It took some time for me to order, so I was able to watch the bartender as he interacted with a number of guest and it was crazy to see the difference in facial expressions/body language. A Black woman gave him a $20 he told her he could not make change and gave it back. I heard her tell her friend that she wanted to tip, but oh well. Right after that an older white couple ordered. He was super smiley, answered their questions politely, gave them yes ma'am/yes sir. The man paid with cash, but his change was $56 and there was no issue making change. When it was my turn, he didn't verbally acknowledge me, just stood in front of me and just cocked his head/ear to the side. I ordered two drinks, both for me bc I knew it'd be HELL getting in/out of the crowd. He repeated them back to me, then looked at the placard as though he didn't know what the drink included. It was a special drink for the JM album, okay fine, understandable. I wait, he brings me ONE drink, drops the bill and moves along to take the next guests order. Uh? Small venue with lots of potential. Came to see our favorite band L.A.B and they did not disappoint! The bar is massive and sits oddly in the room. The issue we had was that everyone orders from the bar and never leaves. They lean on the bar to watch the band, so you have no clue where to squeeze in to order a drink. There were 2 bartenders, and they did their best, but it was just too crowded. I had to order 2 drinks at one time to avoid having to come back. I would have ordered more if it wasn't so challenging. The staff from the valet to security were awesome. They definitely need a raise. Because of the staff we will be sure to be back soon. read more

The Peppermint club is a cute venue by the Beverly center I've only been for album releases and shows, but both times it's been intimate and fun. The club has a few charms like a large bathroom, quirky decorations( see wall of 750 catcher in the rye books), pillow peppermints at the bar, and a well-designed are near the front for dancing. Moving back and forth between the bar and bathroom is a bit tricky when it's packed, but it's comfortable and intimate in the low lighting. The sound quality is high Parking: find street parking next to the venue on the two streets on the same side as the club. read more

I've only been to the venue once but want to put it on your radar as somewhere to consider if a small act you like is in town. The ambiance is beautiful with a special art deco feel. It is SMALL thought. Not sure if they cap attendance - I came into tickets to see a small family band out of NYC for their first LA show - but I wouldn't want to go with any larger of a crowd based on how much room the bar takes up. It's definitely a find a spot and plan to stay there through the night type of venue. It's interesting to see so many poor reviews and concerning that they all seem to consistently call out r*cist behavior, so I'm hesitant to give it another chance. I likely wouldn't have if I had seen those reviews before attending. Sound quality was decent and there are parking meters nearby that end around 8pm if I remember correctly. read more

The Peppermint Club is refusing to provide refunds for a mistake their advertisement team made. I requested a full refund for the Ben Ottewell & Ian Ball (of Gomez), and Buddy concert. When purchasing tickets from their website, it displayed Buddy, the hip hop artist, image as the performer; however, Buddy confirmed on 11/5/23 that he was not the artist performing. It was the alternative rock group Buddy instead which was confirmed when I called the venue the concert was held at on 11/5/23. Ticketmaster said the event organizer, The Peppermint Club, is not issuing refunds unless the show is canceled; however, they advertised the wrong artist. Whether the show is canceled or not does not negate the fact that they falsely advertised an artist that was not performing and received compensation under false pretenses. Peppermint Club's mistake resulted in me purchasing a concert ticket for the wrong artist and hundreds of dollars on a flight to LA for the concert on 11/6/23. I have sent messages and yet to hear a response. What a horrible establishment! read more

I did not come to this venue to eat, but rather to see a live show. They are one of my favorite bands, Rosegarden Funeral Party. If you haven't heard of them, please give them a listen. As for the venue, the best way to characterize it would be intimate and elegant. This is the perfect place to go and see a band live with a more personal experience. The bar is an oval in the middle, with no menu, though. So trust in your bartender unless you have a preferred drink. For the concert goer their are several couches on stages that are only a step elevated from the floor. With significant standing space, it could easily handle 60 or fewer people. More than that, and it might get a bit crowded. For a performer, the stage can handle about 5 bands members max unless you all stay still. Then maybe 7 or more, but I wouldn't push it. There are substantial parking options nearby that are not overpriced compared to central LA. To me, the venue is a 5/5. Perfect to go and see a band that means a lot to you or to create that more heartfelt experience. read more

This is one of those reviews where I wish Yelp would give an option for zero stars and u can see by my history I hit up alllllll types of places and rarely leave places without giving a little grace for a situation that's less than par. I've been to hip hop clubs in multiple cities and although the music was great, the place is trash. Set up is horrible, it took us over an hour to begin to get our bottle service. NYE and we didn't even get to toast with our group because we were trying to figure out how they possibly booked 3 other groups of people for our table on stage. Zero security in the place, no one watching who comes up to our table, and just overall stretchy as hell. I even had to get a little out of character and keep my guard up because I was convinced our night was going to go sideways. This is what this place was... straight riff raff and definitely not a spot for anyone over 24 max. We left with multiple bottles unopened and stayed about an hour longer than we wanted because it was so hard to catch an Uber to get out of there. I'll put it this way... I didn't even care if I had to stand in the rain because this place managed to ruin what could've been a great new years with a fun group of people because they were so unorganized and horribly managed. At one point the managers gf was even serving our table bc it was such a sh*tshow and she knew how pissed we were. She didn't even work there, smh. Worst club experience I've been to by far. The talent on display is usually surprising and very enjoyable. The atmosphere on the other hand ... Jesus. Most jazz spots or places with live music have ample seating. They want you to relax .. enjoy the music, maybe order some food and stay a while. NO. Not here. It's almost like they're trying to force you out the door. As soon as they check your ID, is a cage fight for who will come out on top -- your bank account vs your fun. If you has e it to throw around, fine. Come on in and pay $20 per drink, knowing it's going to take about 3 to get you where you need to go. So if you're taking a guest, bring paper AND plastic in case one isn't enough. My main problem here .. THERE IS NOOOOOO FOOD! What the F!CK is that about? I can go anywhere more than an hour without thinking about food. So you can already assume how my nights goes .. I stop by 7/11 and get a personal box of wine (equal to 3.5 cups) and drink that before I arrive. If I have time, I'll feed myself beforehand too -- otherwise I won't stay long. So .. moral of the story here is, enjoy the music .. but be prepared to pregame or half your paycheck tryna kick it witcha friends. read more

Peppermint Club is a tiny, nondescript music venue and bar on the edge of West Hollywood. I initially thought this was just a bar but was pleasantly surprised to find that one of my favorite artists, Rachel Platten, was scheduled to perform. Given that I have seen her at the House of Blues and Staples Center, I loved the opportunity to see her in a small venue. When I went, there were probably no more than 75 people as the club had not oversold the tickets to pack people in. The acoustics were amazing -- very crisp and clear -- and one of the better experiences I have had for watching music in a small venue. The inside is lovely as the ceiling sparkles and has a mid-century feel. It is standing room only with some booth table seating. I don't know how you get a table during a show, but standing we could get very close to the stage, and even if you were further back near the bar you would still have a great view. Drinks were a little expensive (like $15 a pop). Parking is $15 valet right outside the door. Immediately before the show, I ate at the restaurant next door which shares the same valet (but charges $8). I am disappointed that I still had to pay a whole $15 for the parking. I do not recommend parking on the few meters in the area on Beverly Blvd as they limit you to 2 hours until midnight. read more

Venue is lovely and the sound is good, but some of the bartenders are weirdly rude. I asked for a menu, was told they didn't have one. I assumed they meant none printed, so I said "No problem! I'll look it up", having seen it online prior to that night. After minute he said "Are going to our website? Don't bother." Very confused, I asked why not? He said they don't make any of those drinks. At this point I was totally baffled and I thought I heard him say something about not having ingredients and that it was a menu for a venue maybe the east coast? It was weird.
