This place was recommended to me by my doula as the only place to go to buy nursing bras once your milk comes in. About 3-4 weeks after I had my baby I made the long drive with a newborn to Trousseau. I was one of only two people in the store that afternoon (weekday) and was immediately placed in a fitting room. The associate did a couple of measurements and informed me that my post-partum mammaries had topped out at about 36GG, WHAAAT????? She then disappeared for a few minutes to let this fact sink in, and came back with several bras for me to try. They were not the most beautiful things in the world but good lord they sure were super-comfortable. They also were perfectly practical for the task at hand and I wore them the whole time I was nursing and even for a while after. I have been a loyal customer of Sylene for about 18 years. I decided to look elsewhere when it became more and more difficult for them to fit me in a bra that didn't slide off my very narrow shoulders. Last time, they convinced me to buy a bra and have it altered off-site. That didn't go well. Enter Trousseau. They alter everything you buy there for free. That's right: everything from PJs to bras. They worked hard to help me find lingerie that didn't slide off my shoulders, doing multiple sets of alterations until we got it right. I feel like their staff is expert, kind, and helpful. I also like the bright, clean, pleasant layout of their store, and unlike my previous lingerie home, I never feel pressured to buy anything. I am a convert. They measure your bra size and tell you what your size REALLY is...seems as though it's a different idea from the Victoria Secret version. The staff is very helpful, the bras are nice, but the prices are on the high end. I actually didn't buy bras here, but I did try them on. I bought my bridal jewelry here. They have a great selection and I got SO many compliments about my necklace/earrings/bracelet on my wedding day....everyone was convinced they were real diamonds, lol! I looked all over for jewelry (Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, etc.), and this was my favorite! The people were very helpful, and special ordered the whole set so that it would be brand new for my wedding. Also, they saved the day in a different regard...I ordered bridesmaid shoes and had them dyed at a different store (Crystal Bridal Gallery's shoe vendor)...instead of the blush pink I asked for, they looked like neon lilac easter eggs...horrid! While I was picking up my jewelry, I told Trousseau about this disaster. They told me to bring them in and they would fix them for me ($35/pair), I didn't even know this was an option! They stripped and redyed them, and they were PERFECT! We received so many compliments on them! read more

This will be short and enthusiastic: I got the best fitting strapless bra I've ever had in my life from Trousseau yesterday and am currently wearing it. It looks fantastic under everything. I can jump up and down and raise my arms above my head and everything will still be in the right place. I also now know that I've been wearing the wrong size bra for the entirety of my adult life. They are truly masters of their craft here. The girl who helped me - I wish I could remember her name because she was awesome - was hilarious, very down to earth, and very knowledgeable. We got my correct size in two tries and I wanted to buy all the bras she had me try on because they actually fit. I was suggested this place by my wedding planner to find a strapless bra for the wedding. The lady who helped me was super helpful, and it looked like a very classy place. They also alter bras for free. I also headed out there hoping they would have wedding/briadal shoes, but they didn't have very many, and they were all dyeables. Trousseau also seemed to have some nice jewelry as well. My beef with Trousseau is really my own fault. I didn't really read through their return policy very well and just saw that a refund would be available with the store receipt (I'm pretty sure that's the wording?). The line above it says no refunds, only store credit. I ended up having to return the strapless bra because I found another cheaper one at VS that fit better for the dress that I had, and now I am stuck with a $131 gift receipt that I have yet to receive in the mail. Best lingerie shop EVER! After reading countless positive reviews about Trousseau, I decided to give this place a go, and OMG I'm so happy I did! The French and Italian lines of lingerie fit oh-so-flattering, especially when you are fitted by the ladies who work there. The ultra knowledgeable Jannette fit me, and brought me several gorgeous bras to try. She also provided me with valuable information about the way a bra should fit, where the support comes from, sizing, and care of my garments. I ended up loving everything, and left with one beautiful set from The Little Bra Company (a lingerie company specializing in small frames like mine). The next day I couldn't stop dreaming about a set I tried on by Huit, so today I'm going to go pick it up, hehe. As someone with a very difficult bra size to find and body to fit I went a few years ago to Trousseau and had one of their sales ladies do a bra fitting and they were very helpful, I left with several bras that fit very well. After losing a significant amount of weight I returned today and had the absolute worst experience I've ever had bra shopping, something that can normally be a traumatic experience for me. The staff member assigned to fit me told me that as I am in-between sizes there was nothing that could be done besides wearing the wrong size. After giving specific guidance as to what I was looking for she brought several things that didn't work then refused to help any further. I left in tears. If you are someone who normally has difficulty finding bras do not patronize this store. They used to be good but clearly have decided they can make more money focusing on bridal and the same population who is already well-served by every other lingerie store in the area. Saturday was my first visit to Trousseau. I had seen the advertisements and had tried a different business in Chevy Chase who just didn't cut it because of horrible service and limited stock. Trousseau is a bit far far out for those of us coming from DC or MD, but definitely worth the trip. When I first walked in, I wasn't sure what I was in for. Initially, I wasn't sure if they would be the friendliest but they quickly changed my mind. Once I let them know exactly what I was looking for they were quick to keep the dressing room filled with several options for bras in all colors and brands. That was a plus because as much as I'd love to go to one of the stores in the mall, it normally just doesn't work out for me. I have to admit I'm a bit of a bra/lingerie snob mostly shopping for shops in the UK either in person or online. I left Trousseau completely happy. Two items in hand and they ordered another item for me. Also important to note that Trousseau also does complimentary alterations for lingerie a purchased at their store. Love this place. Plus, they keep the ladies' sizes in the register, so if you're looking to buy something for your SO, they already have her sizes if she's an existing customer.*** I don't think I have enough compliments for my experience at Trousseau. I have been looking into getting professionally fitted for a bra for a long time, and unfortunately, the only one in my city, The Full Cup, is by appointment only, and that just makes it feel so stuffy to me. Luckily, I frequent NoVa often and found the glowing reviews for this place. Store (4/5): The exterior is very unassuming. I'm not from NoVa, so I'm not used to the small streets and parking lot. I felt that it was difficult to get into the shopping area because of how the street and parking lot entry were structured. The interior was nice and organized though with even chocolates being sold in a corner while bridal trousseaux were in the corner in the back. Service (5/5): Can I give more than 5? My aunt and I had a pretty young lady named Dasha as the associate assigned to us, and she was so helpful! I've read the reviews at these bra places and was expecting to have very pushy salesladies, but that was not at all at Trousseau! Dasha measured my band and knew instantly what cup I was. She then proceeded to give so many choices to try on once I told her what I was looking for. I was so pleased by her choices, I ended up asking for more. She stood outside our fitting room and was at reach whenever we needed help. She was also very respectful of our privacy rather than being all over my goodies. My aunt also ended up getting fitted and purchasing bras because of the pleasant experience. Dasha immediately understood our concerns and our preferences and came back with exactly what we would be looking for. Stock (4.5/5): I think this goes with many undergarment stores, especially those that stock imported European lingerie. They lack colors and sizes, but to be fair, I actually found a lot of different colors at Trousseau. Fortunately, Trousseau offers to order what they don't have in the store for you, and if you don't live in the area like me, they will ship it to you with $10 UPS fee. I'm not sure if that's a flat fee. Overall (4.5/5): I love this place, and I definitely recommend it. The sales associates are not at all stuffy or snobby, and they make the shopping experience enjoyable. I ended up purchasing 3 bras instead of just 1 because of all the great choices Dasha gave. She let the products sell themselves while making adjustments to highlight the products. I can definitely see myself being a loyal customer. Room for Improvement? I will say... considering how much the bras are, I wish they had more of a giveaway or something other than one sample of detergent, considering I spent near $300 in one trip. I also wish they'd have sales. Nordstrom carries some of these brands, albeit in even more limited sizes and choices, and they have some Chantelle and Simone Pérèle on sale occasionally. My daughter and I have shopped at Trousseau for years. My last experience will also turn out to be my last time doing business with them. Trousseau had been my source for the smaller band size my daughter wears. It was also the source for her lingerie for her wedding. Needless to say we have spent significant money at this store. That really doesn't mean that this business is not entitled to whatever return policy they choose to put in place. Having said that, I will say because I don't shop there that often, I asked my salesperson, at the outset, if my purchase could be returned. I was given an unequivocal "yes." I further explained that because my daughter now lives out of state ( in fact on the West coast) I wondered if the items could be shipped to her. I went on to say that there was a potential that the items would not fit, so it was important to know that these items could be returned. Again, I was reassured with " yes, as long as the tags are in place and you have the receipt." I selected several items, paid for them ( with an additional $10 for shipping) and left the store. My daughter ended up keeping one of the 3 bras....coincidentally a $130 garment. The other 2 were shipped back to me. The problem ensued when I returned to the store for my charge credit. I was informed I would be given a merchandise credit. The salesperson went into elaborate detail about the store policy. My original salesperson was there and heard the entire conversation. She supported exactly what I had just been told by her colleague in the same detail and the ultimate store credit policy. I reminded her of the circumstances when I initially come in to make the purchase, and how it was important to know the return policy since my daughter would not be present to try them on. I reminded her that I had been given an unequivocal " yes" without caveat or specific conditions regarding a potential return. Again, they can set any return policy in place they choose. At the same time when they are asked, point blank, if an item can be returned, they have a responsibility to be as clear about their policy before the sale as they are in the case of a return. The very lengthy store policy reiterated after the fact by BOTH salespersons, and ultimately further amplified by the store manager should have been provided prior to the sale when asked. A "yes" in response to my query just doesn't cut it. Ultimately, I did receive a return to my charge card after being turned over to the store manager. I will also say, that her manner in addressing my situation was haughty and downright rude. For the third time I had to bear through her version of their very specific return policy. She even went so far as to accuse me of "threatening her" when I told her that I felt that I had been deceived by not being given a full answer with regard to my initial return policy query and that at this point I felt the only acceptable solution would be a return to my card. Failing that, I would have to turn it over to American Express for resolution. The entire experience was unsettling to say the least. Deceptive sales practices are bad enough, but to be made to feel responsible for the deceptiveness is quite another. Buyer beware. And yes, there is a sign posted near the register at a counter with merchandise displays and many distractions- and written in a flowery and embellished script (i.e. Hard to read and lost in the clutter). I have to think this was part of their deceptive sales practices. And, I deserved full disclosure of said policies when asked directly. read more

I brought my mom here for mastectomy bras. We arrived at 10am right behind another woman. We walked in, weren't greeted and then were awkwardly asked our names to be out on the "list" to be fitted. The 3 woman at the desk were quietly arguing about their roles for the day and who was going to be doing fittings. One of the women motioned for my mom to come with her. We didn't see her motion since she didn't say anything. I was like "well you have to speak so we know what you want us to do". She replies "well I motioned for you to come". She put my mom in a room to be measured. Never introduced herself by name, like I overheard the other employees do. She ever asked my mom what type of bras she likes, colors etc. She started the appointment by telling her "we don't really carry a lot of mastectomy bras here". Way to make my mom feel important or that she's valued as a customer, especially coming for such a personal and sensitive item. Even if that is the case, offer some suggestions. She disappears for at least 10 minutes, then FINALLY comes back with 1 bra. 1 ONE! Really? You couldn't bring several options for her to try? She had an attitude The entire time. We literally just walked out. I have no idea how this place got so many 5 star reviews. It's clear they don't care about their customers and their staff needs training. After my mom told her she wasn't pleased with how she was being treated, the salesgirl walked out of the room. Not even an apology or an attempt to rectify the situation. We ended up going to Nordstrom's in Tyson's where they were extremely friendly and accommodating. Like several others commented here, they definitely seem to cater to a certain demographic because it was very obvious the level of customer service others were receiving compared to the experience my mom had. read more

I was looking for an strapless bra for my wedding and I tried EVERY and I mean every, bra store in the area. Trousseau is the best you will find. I should say, Natalie is the best you will find in the area. When I first went in, I tried on strapless bras and body shapers and ended up looking like a sausage and the sales girl told me this was the best they could do. They didn't have a bra in my size(very hard to find strapless in my size) and they ordered some for me. From then on, Natalie helped me out and she was fantastic. While I'm sure there are some other nice people working there, Natalie is amazing and helpful and friendly and knows her stuff. ****Update**** Natalie no longer works there. =( I recently went in and while the girl who helped me was nice, she was no Natalie and she kept trying to put me in undergarments I know were not going to work for me. While there are a wide range if sizes in bras, the plus size section in other lingerie is very small (but they did offer to order for me). Mask check, social distancing check, temperature check none of your business and your not a clinic AND it is not CDC or Virginia requirements but strictly the owners/managers choice. I don't know anyone in this age that would go out if I even suspected I was ill. Niemans has a lovely lingerie section, not like Trousseu but they are not as intrusive and their return policy is reasonable. If you're bustier than average (and by this, I mean that your full bust measurement is 5" or more inches larger than your under bust measurement), Trousseau is one of the few places in the DC Metro where you can find bras to fit. While American companies like to pretend that a DD cup is huge and no one could possibly be larger than that, the rest of the world recognizes that this isn't true, and it's these European brands that Trousseau carries (Fantasie, Panache, Freya, Chantelle, etc) in cup sizes up to a K. The shop is lovely, the staff is friendly, and I've had some good fittings there. So why have I marked them down a star? Really, it's mostly for the fit advice posted on their website, which says to add 5" to your under bust to get your band size. I've only had one fitter there fit me by this method, however, and she agreed it didn't work once she saw me in it - every other fitter has advised choosing a band size close to my under bust measurement. Overall, I definitely recommend - nice people, good brands, and a great resource if you're looking for larger cup bras. read more

When I read the reviews here, I thought maybe it was too good to be true, especially when I pulled up to the store and saw what it looks like from the outside. But let me tell you what, this place is all it's cracked up to be, and then some. Being a size that isn't generally well stocked (outside of boring looking grandma bras) at most department stores, I was hoping to find a few that not only fit well, but looked nice too. And I was not disappointed. I walked in, was greeted, and was taken straight to a dressing room. I did not look around, I did not pass go, I did not collect $200. Alexis asked me if I had been sized before, and brought me one to try on for size. Thanks Nordstrom, your last measurement was, in fact, correct. I told her what I was looking for, and she immediately went out and found me exactly what I wanted. I left with 4 bras that fit and even look like someone my age would wear them, and I did not spend near as much as I had expected that I would. In fact, I'm pretty sure I paid about the same amount (maybe a TINY bit more) when I was buying crappily made, poorly fitting, wrong sized bras from Victoria's Secret before I saw the light. We visited Trousseau today and had a very positive experience due in great part to the assistance provided by Kaleigh. We were in search of undergarments for an upcoming event and Kaleigh was exceptionally helpful and sensitive in helping us find the right ones. This is my fourth visit and the first since the onset of the pandemic. Measures were taken to ensure everyone's safety (temp check upon entering and sanitizer offered at the front desk, plus everyone masked up) but more than that, the personalized care offered and the huge selection of garments to choose from made our shopping experience a great success. I guess that's why we keep returning here vs. going to department stores which can't come close to offering the choices in larger sizes and the expert care needed for the right fit. read more

I came here on the recommendation of Yelp for maternity bras, and ended up buying two ($$$$). The service was very friendly and helpful, and the selection is not bad -- I mean, compared to other stores, the selection is great. Supposedly they will alter bras for free if necessary. But... apparently even a store like this can't really sell attractive bras in the larger sizes. And there was only one bra in one color in the store in my new size with a lining, so they had to order others for me to try one. They did come in pretty fast, maybe a week later? Honestly, this was a successful expedition (or two), and I suppose if this store doesn't cure me of my hatred of bra shopping (due to the $$$$ and persistent lack of pretty things even in my non-pregnant size), nothing will. I assume I'll be back to spend more $$$ when even these new ones don't fit anymore once the baby arrives. read more

Great experience! I already had a large bust with sizes you can't easily find at common mall lingerie stores, but I'm also 5 months postpartum. After birth my bras did not fit the same and getting a proper size was a struggle. Upon arrival, I was immediately questioned about my preferences and needs. The store's employee (Debbie I believe) was very thorough and checked every bra on me and gave lots of professional input. I did not feel pressured to buy anything or uncomfortable in the obviously intimate setting. Yes, the bras are expensive, but compared to popular stores and brands it is not that much more and you are guaranteed a proper fit and superior service. Absolutely worth the price. I went in today super depressed and stressed out of my mind about finding a bra for my wedding dress fitting tomorrow. I have ordered probably 30 bras online, bought another 75 in major department stores and have a small army of them waiting to go to the fitting and knew none of them were right. Someone suggested Trousseau when I started to cry today at Bloomingdales out of anger and stress, and I am SO GLAD for the woman I probably scarred for life and her recommendation. First impression when I walked in was the store is BEAUTIFUL. Gorgeous things...literally everywhere, in dozens of sizes, colors, materials. There were quite a few people in the store so I had to wait a few minutes for assistance, which was actually really nice because I got to look around at some of the beautiful things in there. My lingerie goddess, I have NO idea what her name was other than she was really pretty and blonde (she gave me her card but it's in my car and I'm far too lazy to go dig it out for this review), was quite literally a goddess. She asked me what I needed, asked for a picture of my dress to see what she needed to work around, and carefully explained how they worked. She led me to a small fitting room where she measured me, asked my bra size and went off. She brought me in one option first - which she helped strap me into, before explaining to me that they do FREE ALTERATIONS. If the cups needed to be lower? FREE. Back needs to be lower? FREE. OMFG THIS PLACE IS GENIUS. Alterations to be free takes two weeks but ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ONE OF MY BOOBS IS LITERALLY ALWAYS EITHER BUSTING OUT OF A BRA OR FLOPPING IN A TOO LOOSE CUP. This place is GENIUS. GENIUS. I really liked the first option but thought my boobs looked a little weird, so she explained why it was actually a good thing with the thick bodice of my wedding dress and they did that to make sure that I actually had cleavage and didn't look weird. I accepted this response because she was the professional and I already pretty much trusted her with my first born, so I tried on three more options she handed me. Each time she listened to what I liked and didn't like, and made her own observations on what the pros and cons of each one was. I ended up buying two because one was probably perfect for the dress and the other was really pretty. She even showed me a pretty nightgown that I really liked for just...lounging...that didn't look like a grandma, so I bought that too. This place has everything from odd custom things you need to fit that random dress with odd cutouts, to honeymoon/wedding night/I want to entertain my significant other, to "I want to eat my feelings in soft flannel and don't touch me". I was quite pleased that Jenny did not rush me or push me into buying anything I did not want or need. Go. Go right now. After a disappointing experience with cheap undergarments while wedding dress shopping, I decided to pony up for the good stuff. I went to Trousseau on my mom's recommendation and couldn't be happier with my experience. I walked in and was greeted immediately by Brittany. I told her I needed shapewear for trying on gowns, and she took me right back to the corsets. She was super intuitive and friendly. I'm not a very touchy person but she made me feel at ease while trying on a bunch of corsets that I needed assistance with. I'm not a particularly easy customer-- I am incredibly picky and I change my mind a lot. She rolled with my changing ideas and never hesitated to bring me different styles until I found the perfect gear. And when I had doubts that she couldn't ease, she'd call in a co-worker who'd help. The whole staff was very friendly and cohesive as a group, which made me feel really comfortable. My mom warned me that I might pay "an arm and a leg" here but I was pleasantly surprised by my total, it seemed like less than I would have spent at Nordstrom or a comparable store, with the bonus of the cozy atmosphere. read more

I went in for a good fit, I was told I had the perfect fit. The bra did not fit by the afternoon when I wore it. Upon returning to the shop I was told that straps needed to be shortened 2 inches, and that it was common for them to do alterations. It is somewhat surprising that they are not able to fit someone without alterations made to the bras. I was quite surprised that this had not been disclosed when I was fitted for the bras. Ask about the shop routinely and commonly making alterations to the "good fit" of the bra before deciding this is where you want to shop. Inquire about both bras and sports bras, both are commonly altered. I had ventured into the shop for a sports bra which did not support the tissue. read more

I had always heard great things about Trousseau's but never went because I was always told they were expensive. My aunt wanted to buy me my 'body armor' as we called it for my wedding and she wanted to look at bras here too, so we went together. I got a great corset for a decent price (their bras are more expensive) and they offered to alter it for free. They told me to take it home and try it on under my dress to make sure it looked great under the dress and it did =) I never ended up getting is altered because I waited till pretty last minute to get it and then forgot to try it on quickly, but my dress fit well enough, that the cups being a little big didn't matter. Their customer service is fantastic by the way. If I can bring myself to spend the money, I will definitely be back! =) read more

Just beware: This shop is VERY PRICEY and their 30 day exchange policy doesn't fit well when you are waiting for your wedding gown, brides-maid dress, or mother-of-the-bride dress to come in. They are not at all flexible on this policy. You can get equal, or better quality bras or body-shaping accessories many other places. read more

Ever since I heard about Couture bra shops when I was in my 20s, I always wanted to go but I never made it. Today, 20 years later, a friend recommended this shop to me as I was having trouble finding a bra to wear under a new fancy dress that had a bit of a low back. I am now a True Believer that 95% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. I've never been able to wear a wired bra until today. Both my band size and my cup size were way off what it should have been. The online measuring recommendations are all wrong. Thank you to Lillian who helped me at the store today find my right size. I feel like I now have to replace all my bras so that I can feel more comfortable in my clothing. read more

I ordered shape wear because what I wanted they didn't have in stock. I waited a couple of weeks, no word from them, so I called and there was no record of my order. They said they would put in the order and it would take a week. I called 10 days later because, again, there was no word from them and got the same response, no record of my order. AND, I was told that they would NEVER tell me that an order would come in a week because it usually takes two weeks. My son's wedding is next weekend so I'm off Tysons. So much for trying to shop local. Not the kind of personal experience you would expect. read more

I love Trousseau! I was wearing ill-fitting bras for years and am so happy to have found this place. I make it a habit to go at least once a year, and bring a friend, and have ALWAYS had fantastic experiences. Kaileigh usually fits me, and she's quick, efficient, extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and hilariously frank. I'm always happy to see her when I go. I also purchased my wedding bra here and Jessica did an amazing job with the alterations. I even came in three days before the wedding and they were able to make it a priority.
