Amazing company to work with! I recently purchased a home and have been doing little projects here and there. For the bigger stuff I've been hiring contractors and yesterday I had a painting contractor out to paint 2 extra bedrooms upstairs. While resurfacing a wall in one room, they had plugged in an air compressor and blow dryer which blew something and the power to part of my house went out. We checked the breakers and GFI outlets but to no avail. I sent out a request on yelp for quotes this morning for someone to come out and assess the situation ASAP. A big thank you to Trout Electric, and especially Christian and his able assistant. We called them to have the 100 amp breaker replaced, and Katie initially suggested an appointment a week away, but when I explained that we were without power, she immediately worked around their schedule to fit us in at 4pm. However, rather than 4pm they actually arrived at 2pm and proceeded to evaluate out 60 year old panel, and concluded that it needed to be replaced. Well, they diligently worked straight through till 8pm to restore power to our home. It is really a pity that Christian's wiring is covered up by the panel cover, it was truly a work of art. This morning, Christian dropped by because rain was in the forecast and he wanted to seal off the panel from the elements. They were at all times highly professional. I recently(7/13/18) had an electrical problem in one the walls of my kitchen(where my refrigerator is plugged). Keep in mind I just remodeled my kitchen in October 2017.I was having company over that morning and needed the problem to be fixed quick. I called other companies but they would not be able to come in until the following week, so I called Trout Electric based on the Yelp Reviews.They were able to send a technician by 10:00am. What I failed to ask was what were their fees; $199 which included a minor repair. He checked every outlet and over and over and after almost two hours the technician ended up saying that our electrician had done a terrible job and I should contact him. At first he had said that he was not going to charge me since he could not find the problem. But he then came back and said he could only give a $10% discount. I did not question it because I saw how long he took and my family was due any minute. What made me write this review was that we called another technician the following week and that technician found the problem within 30 minutes. The wiries on the outlet where the refrigerator was plugged in were loose. He just re-connect them and boom there was electricity. I feel I was taken advantage off and I should have not been charged since the technician could not find the problem after almost two hours. These electricians from Trout Electric (Scott and Noah) were great. I had a problem with my GFI outlets in my garage which were tripping out multiple times this week due to overload from my water heater, refrigerator and water softener. While the tripping problem did not occur while they were inspecting it, they were very knowledgeable about how these GFI outlets work and offered me advice on how to prevent these GFI outlets from tripping out in the future. I give Trout Electric 5 stars for being knowledgeable, honest and professional. Best of all, they did not charge me for the consultation. I will definitely call them back if the issue arises again. We had to put in a lot of new light fixtures and some fans to make our old house current. We also wanted the job done right. We called Trout Electric to come out and give an estimate. They were very reasonable and very friendly and very straightforward. There was no up selling. Mark came and did our estimate and he was also the one that did our install. This was going to be an all day job, so they booked Mark from 8 till 5. When Mark got here we showed him where we needed the fixtures, ceiling fans and two exhaust fans. Mark was very friendly and professional. He was also fast and tidy. My wife and I were so surprised how quickly he got the lights and fans up. He also was very neat in cutting the dry wall to connect the exhaust fans. He also cleaned up everything and put all our old stuff by our trash cans. On Aug 31, 2013. I called this service because someone stole my main breaker in my circuit panel overnight. I asked them for a quote to see how much it'll cost for them to come to my property (in city of Chino) and install a new main breaker. They quoted me at $600.00 just to install a main breaker?!?!? WAY OVERPRICED!!! I went on Craigslist and looked for an electrician and they did it for $115 installed (parts and labor) in an hour. This company might have good feedbacks from previous customers, but they surely scared me right off the bat with their up-front quote. read more

I am a skeptic. I want that known out of the box. Unless a trade is known to me, I have a certain amount of distrust before I go in. I had an electrical problem with my old home which 2 independent electricians could not find. I was referred by one of them to Matt at Trout Electric to troubleshoot the home to determine what was wrong. Two men who were very nice showed up and ran through my home. They were here for almost 3 hours. They told me up front it was $200.00 to find the problem. Not long into the service, I was being told that my house was basically a fire hazard and I really needed to do a complete rewire...(skeptic coming in here...) and after the 3 hours was up, I had heard enough about new panels and rewiring to last me a lifetime. I thought, well, is this all they want from me? Where's the service? Why isn't my problem being addressed? They told me they found the problem, broken wires which could have led to a fire, but nothing was fixed when they left, and I was $200.00 poorer with a huge estimate for rewiring. I was up all night getting more and more upset with the company because I felt ripped off. First thing the next morning I called Matt and gave him a piece of my mind. I told him how I felt...and figured it was worth the effort to get it off my chest. Matt surprised me, however. He remained calm in the face of my wrath, and proceeded to tell me what they had uncovered, and why they thought I needed a rewire, and after discussing with me these things, offered me a reasonably priced solution which would buy me time to determine whether or when I could afford to rewire, but which would make my home safe and working in the meantime. He also offered me some discounted pricing to make up for me being upset, and credited back the price of the original troubleshooting. I accepted his offer. The same guys came back, and unfortunately, I was having a really frustrating day and got bitchy because they had to work in my garden and some plants were becoming casualties of their work. Just like their boss, they remained calm, were more than polite to me, and worked on my home from 8 a.m. until after 10 p.m. making sure that everything was done correctly, all my electrical worked, patched up and cleaned up as much as possible, and went home hungry and tired after a 14 hour day. This morning I called to apologize to Matt for being a less than nice client, and told him how much I appreciated what he and his crew did as professionals, and I want anyone to know who is searching on reviews on this company that they are really heads up. It takes a lot to impress me...and I am impressed and trying to make amends for being such a pill. 5 stars. 'Nuff said. read more

Tesla owners beware. If you need a 240v outlet installed do not mention you need the outlet for a Tesla because you will be charged a ridiculous amount. My contact at Tesla advised me of this after they've received numerous complaints. I too read the 5 star reviews and decided to schedule an appointment for a quote. Now to test these guys I did mention I needed the outlet for a Tesla. So one of the company"s technician came by my house and after looking around and taking some measurements quoted me $3,500 to install a simple 240v outlet. Yikes, the fact that this company was on Tesla's website just means they took a basic online course on Tesla's products and nothing more and for that they get to be listed on Tesla's website. The growing Tesla market is very lucrative and these guys will take advantage and hustle you for some serious money. The technician even confesed that all their Tesla customers called for their service only after they already had posession of the car; not a very smart move. Honestly, it's best to call a company not listed on Tesla's website as it is a very simple install and should not cost you more than a few hundred dollars, definitely not $3,500. read more
