I came here and ordered the lamb plate (really good!) and the mezze plate -- the food overall was solid and flavorful. That said, there were a couple of service hiccups that brought the experience down. We asked for a $15 bottle of wine, and the server suggested a "better" bottle at the same price. I confirmed three times that it would be matched at $15. Instead, he ended up only bringing us glasses of wine and declined to give us the bottle, which didn't feel right. On top of that, pita bread took forever to come out, and our water glasses weren't refilled. The food here is definitely worth trying, but the service left me frustrated -- hopefully it was just an off night.

A lovely Greek family owned restaurant with great vibes. It serves hot pita and the most flavorful chicken and tomato's you could imagine. Even fillers like salad or rice are some of the best I have ever had. I recommend the Turkish chicken meatballs, they have a bit of everything with an amazing chicken that breaks apart in your mouth and is delicious. And comes with an amazing dip.

First timer at Troy ATX, and I have to say it did not disappoint:) The ambiance first off was not what I expected when I walked in (in a good way)! The location was obscure so I did not have expectations for the inside. That said I think I was fabulously surprised by "don't judge a book by its cover," because the inside was a cute setup. A small hidden gem, but well dimmed for a Friday night dinner. The service was also great, very fast, responsive, and happy to help. Now the food let's get into what we really want to hear. Chicken Skewer plate: The chicken skewer plate was great because the chicken itself was juicy and well marinated. The rice on the side was something I was not the biggest fan of. It missed a lot of marks for what I usually think of when I think Mediterranean Turkish rice. That said, the rest of the plate made up for it with a pretty good salad, granted I got the entire hummus board. I absolutely threw extra hummus, tzatziki, and other flavoring on my rice. It was served with a salad that had some great toppings and of course the poblano pepper and tomato. The board dips: These various hummus, tzatziki boards were good, but I definitely must say it was a fun shareable board. There were 6 different dips all of which I tried. Now I cannot name each one, but I do think they all hit the mark of pretty close to fabulous tastings. Turkish coffee: This coffee was the favorite in my experience. It was strong, but it had a great cut of sweetness. You are served these chewy sugar pieces on the side, I do not know the name but I enjoyed them with the coffee. The way the coffee is served is also a wonderful treat because it is well presented. Overall, I would give this hidden gem a try.

I went here for lunch with my friend, and the service was 10/10 while the food was delicious! We got the chicken kebab, douma, and the mixed meat plate. Everything was cooked really well and the seasoning was amazing. I especially like their douma the most. We also get to tried their tea. The waiter today was awesome and very considerate. We don't know his name, but he truly did an amazing job and we appreciate it!

Overall great service and a nice place to get your Mediterranean/Turkish food fix if you are ever in North Austin. The first time I came here was with a friend, and we shared some small dishes off the appetizer side of the menu. We tried a dish that was like hummus but a darker red color and spicier, which I found exquisite. I decided from that visit that my next mission was to bring my boyfriend and try some of the entree specials. I had the chance to do just that last weekend. My boyfriend got a meat dish (Turkish meatball dish) and I got the falafel platter. My plate came with rice, two small pita triangles, a modest side salad, halved falafel balls, hummus, and tahini. I feel like it could have come with more sauce to balance the falafel, but overall it was a reasonably-portioned plate. We were also given samples of grape leave rolls and a pistachio dessert to try! My boyfriend was incredibly impressed and now wants to come back so we can try the Turkish coffee (we were too full to try it during this visit!). The staff was super friendly and nice, and was gracious to have us come by on a Saturday in the late afternoon (we were the only ones dining at the time). If you are looking for small business to support, definitely check out Troy ATX!

Already looking forward to returning! This little spot may be overlooked as it's a part of a strip behind the Chevron gas station, but don't be fooled. Worth getting to know this authentic Turkish taste of the Mediterranean. Yes, it's small. It's family-owned. Therefore, this might mean longer waits (so don't show up hangry). But because it's small and family-owned, you'll truly feel like you've come to the home of the owners, and once things start to slow down after the rush, you'll feel like you've been welcomed by the family as you get to know them. It's truly a family effort, and it's admirable to see how even a small service can work together to accommodate the needs of all their guests (15 tables). An eclectic ambiance, sharing vibrancy. Orhan, one of the sons, makes it a priority to provide the best service possible and cares to share the culture of his family; learning your names, opening doors, sharing details relevant to what you're eating/drinking (if you care to know). In the kitchen, Okan and Cam, make sure it's a collaborative effort and not simply a separation of front of house and back of house. We truly felt like we came to their home and were welcomed as family. Do yourselves a favor and order the Iskender. Not only is it tasty, but there's a presentation of the meal that you may not get elsewhere. Of course, it may come out quicker than you expect, so feel free to slow play it by starting with the Mezze Sampler. We decided against it and started with the lentil soup (perfectly pureed with a unique taste of olive oil with seasoning) and the Acuka. Perfect amount of pita, so you don't fill up before your meal. Of course, plan accordingly. You're not going to want to miss out on Turkish coffee. Beautiful presentation, with a unique experience. We look forward to returning to try the Baklava and Turkish Ice cream, along with some tea. Thank you to the family at Troy ATX for bringing a piece of your home to Austin.

Don't sleep on this place! I was in the area and stumbled upon this hidden gem. What originally brought me here was the Turkish coffee (which was so good, I ordered 2!), but the food sealed the deal. We ordered the mezze plate for 2 and it was so filling. Each dip was so flavorful; my favorites were the carrot, hummus, and shakshuka. We also shared a troy plate for a little bit of everything. I was surprised by how much food there was and the distinct flavor of each protein. Will definitely be back!

I've had plenty of mediterranean places before with the traditional gyro and rice place meat offerings, but not traditional authentic Turkish food. My turkish friend (doesn't live in Austin) looked at the menu and confirmed the menu and food is traditional Turkish dishes. I was torn between the Iskender Kebab or the meatballs, the serve recommended the iskender kebab as that was his favorite Turkish dish. I was not disappointed, definitely a unique combination of tomato sauce on gyro meat with chopped pita bread at the bottom. The yogurt complimented the meat and sauce very well. They added melted butter on top which was a very nice touch to bring out the flavors. I also ordered the pistaschio baklava, love the pistachio flavor but the baklava itself its just a tad bit too sweet for my taste. Service was great and they are super friendly. Would return to try other dishes!

This was quite the treat. I was shopping before Thanksgiving with my wife and we decided to try it out for lunch. We almost missed the place. The parking is TINY. When you get to the corner of the two roads and you see the Valero gas station, go right in there. It is in the same parking lot. In fact, it is so small of a lot that everyone starts cramming into random locations. The owners seriously should think of just marking lines to make it easier for all. It's likely that they will get more customers. If the parking looks full, don't worry - they probably have space for you. Inside it is smallish in a nice intimate way. Almost all the seats are designed "family style". In fact there's a 30 person table running thru the center of the restaurant. Can't find a spot? Just slide on in with the rest of the folks. For lunch, I had the Turkish Style Grilled Chicken Turkey wrap. It was fantastic. The pita bread seemed to be hand made. It was certainly warmed up beforehand. The chicken and spices made me feel like I was in a foreign land enjoying myself. No sides, so consider that. I thought it would be accompanied by something. Wasn't. My wife got the beef doner wrap. It was like a gyro, but with beef and no sauce. It was an instant hit. Again, awesome pita and no sides. That was fine, as I wasn't too starved. We had trouble getting out. The waiter was too busy with the credit card machine that was having a fit. So, no refills on fluids and very slow at the end. I don't hold him to the problem - likely all the pre-sales crushing the Visa network. Leaving there were a ton of trucks & cars in random arrangement. I felt sorry for the gas station and it was tough weaving to get out. Did I mention they should draw some parking lines in that tiny lot? I only wish I worked next door. I would be there almost every week. read more

A hole in the wall type place. This place was a bit hard to find (basically in a lot with a gas station). Parking was odd but easy to find. We sat down and it was so cute inside. Definitely not what you think it'll look like from the outside. The food was so good but the tzatziki sauce was a bit weird and the only thing I didn't like. Most people who walked in got to-go food. I would definitely recommend the gyro meat (lamb meat). read more

My new favorite lunch stop! This place has everything: charm, friendly staff, and of course, amazing Turkish food. The restaurant is certainly unassuming- tucked behind a Valero gas station, I've passed by it many times, but honestly didn't even know what kind of establishment it was until I looked it up (the only signage is "TROY" in all caps and a Trojan horse on top of the building, so it could really be anything!) I walked in and was greeted with friendly smiles by Orhan and Nazmi (sp?), and while I waited for my food I was given some delicious Turkish tea and I chatted with them about the restaurant. They are both from Turkey, and the restaurant is a family business. They even taught me how to say "thank you" in Turkish: teşekkür ederim!! Good vibes all around. I ordered the chicken tantuni which was promptly devoured when I got home. Slightly spicy chicken with vegetables, served with buttery rice, a salad, and a Turkish dessert (revani- a bit like flan, dusted with cinnamon). Seriously so good!! Overall, Troy adds something very special and unique to Austin, and should be your first stop if you're looking for authentic Turkish food (or simply to try something new.) I really like this place. We especially enjoyed the mezze plate. There was a carrot dip based on the greek type of the same but it has fish eggs. I cannot remember the name of the dish at Troy nor the one in Greece. (too much raki?) Anyway, the mezze plate had many tasty bites but they were a bit stingy with the pita. So we had more dip than bread to go with it. I also had the kafte kebob which is not served on a skewer. I was looking for skewered foods for an event I was hosting. It was also very salty. The service was slow. But even though my review is meh...I did like the place. Variety is good for Austin and I liked feeling like I was somewhere besides Austin. This place did it! read more

Stop what you're doing and go here! This little restaurant shares a parking lot with a Valero gas station but dont let that detter you- Troy is an absolute gem! The food- amazing! The staff is also so friendly and inviting. We came in with our infant and there was a man there will several different musical instruments. He came to sit by us and entertained her with music while we ate. She loved it and so did we. I would highly recommend to anyone to give Troy a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Absolutely delicious!! The lamb plate did not disappoint! Flavorful, tender, juicy, everything lamb should be. Even my 2 year old loved it! The rice was flavored well with I think butter and salt and the salad was simple but refreshing. We also got hummus & baba ghanoush, which was also a hit with our 2 year old and all the adults too! Found this place when we were looking for food semi-close to the Arboretum. Boy, was it a good find! Located next to a Valero gas station, looked kind of shady walking in, but the inside decor is ok. For $9.95, you can get a plate with meat, rice, salad, tea, and a dessert. I had the beef donor which was tasty, and my girlfriend had the grilled chicken, which was equally as good. I'll admit it. I came here just to try the turkish coffee after a friend posted a photo of the beautiful coffee service they use. I ordered the Beef Iskender and was blown away. Let them pour the butter on this because adds a richness to the dish that is perfect! Ate every bite. Both my husband and I were blown away by the coffee. It was strong and definitely served in the most fancy coffee set you have ever seen. Made me feel like a princess! Lovely family-run business. This is a nice little family run joint, tucked in the back of a small neighborhood strip mall. It's in the same parking lot of a Valero gas station. Just look for the large inflatable dragon, you can't miss it! The moment we walked in the door, you could feel the care and love the family has put into this place. A complimentary tea was handed to me, as I made my order. I went with the Beef Iskender and it was amazing. A pile of their flavorful beef, topped with a slightly spicy gravy, and then an au jus like sauce pored on top for good measure. Very filling, but completely satisfying. I highly recommend it. The service was top notch, everyone is very friendly and enthusiastic about the food and dinning experience. I highly recommend coming here with a few friends, so everyone can try a few dishes. This was a great meal and an awesome experience. We love finding little family owned places like this. We were here on a Wednesday afternoon, about 4PM. The restaurant was fairly empty, so we got lots of one-on-one attention from the husband and wife team that run the place. We shared the Best of Meze sampler and the Iskender plate followed by Turkish coffee. The food was amazing! Thankfully we had read up a bit before coming and saw a comment about bringing our own wine. The owner graciously provided a wine opener and glasses. We will definitely be adding Troy to our regular rotation of dinner spots. read more

GREAT PLACE! They have the right mix of food, atmosphere, and personalities. The owner, who I assume is Turkish, was also the host/waitress and took such a genuine interest in ensuring we had a great experience. So friendly. They obviously have a lot of pride in what they do. Cute cafe style place, very casual. The Turkish coffee experience at the end seemed very authentic with the tray that has the flavored sugars you let dissolve in your mouth as you sip the coffee. They also have these great sampler plates of both appetizers and entrees if you want to try many things. My family also really loved that we tried Troy. read more

Two words: Iskender kebab. Iskender kebab is my favorite Turkish dish and while kebabs writ large can be found easily across Austin, Troy ATX is the only place I've found that has iskender kebab and it DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Unfortunately we haven't been able to dine-in at Troy ATX but we have been lucky enough to order curbside pickup no two occasions. Definitely looking forward to dining in once COVID lets up. read more

Everything looked delicious.... BUT... i ordered a plate of food and a Turkish coffee, and a few minutes later a meeting reminder popped up on my phone to begin in 15 minutes. SHOOT!!!! They canceled my order and let me run, and we're super kind and understanding. I will absolutely be back, because this place looked bomb. For now, I know they are delightful people... will update after my return visit Update: Came back here for lunch with my wife-- she got a Gyro plate, I got the Iskender plate, and we ordered the Tzatziki appetizer. I would order all 3 over and over again with no regrets. 2 critiques -- 1.) Canned soda only. I could care less, but Diet Coke addicts (like my boo) would want you to know this ahead of time... for mental preparation. 2.). The Tzatziki was a hearty portion (and excellent), but served with 4 teeny tiny pita triangles. We used the rest with our meal, but absent a plate, we would have eaten 3/4 of it with a spoon I guess. read more

Ordered a Greek Salad and gyro meat to go on top through Door Dash. I received no salad, thus have an incomplete meal. Instead of a salad, I received some cucumber/tomato thing that was not good, because the tomatoes were mealy. The gyro meat was greasy. Maybe the food is better in the actual restaurant, but what I received was a wrong order and overpriced bad food. read more

The variety is also amazing, and it's easy to build a plate for pretty much any type of diet whether you're keto, high protein, balanced, veggie-forward, vegan, etc... Kind of irritating when you're trying to relax. A cabana is the way to go but the seating for the couch slides all over the place. Service was great for how busy they were! Update- apparently the dog's owner is a resident of The Proper.....still not okay to be doing this....but grateful for the waitstaff for trying to manage such rude people

Everything is counter service so you'll order your entire meal at the counter along with drinks, the cashier will give you a number and the service staff will bring your items to your table. My friend and I ordered several different items on the menu to try out, we got the etouffee, red beans and rice, and a mushroom salad. My favorite out of those items was the mushroom salad with vinagarette dressing, who doesn't love mushrooms and some greens! The etouffee was rich and savory with what i believe was their rotating protein of the week. Can't really go wrong with red beans and rice, these are like an upgraded popeyes version. To end the meal we tried their beignets which weren't stellar but reminded me more of a fried donut with some powdered sugar sprinkled on top. I'd come back but maybe not get so much food since we both definitely left stuffed!

We had an incredible dining experience at Troy ATX! From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. We ordered a spread of dishes including hummus, acuka, dolma, Iskender kebab, Turkish beef meatballs, doner, and baklava. Every single plate was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The Iskender kebab in particular was exceptional, perfectly tender with rich, savory sauce, and the brown butter topping was excellent. The hummus and acuka were some of the best we've had in Austin. The dolma had that perfect balance of rice, herbs, and tanginess, while the meat dishes were cooked to perfection. And of course, the baklava was the perfect sweet finish - flaky, nutty, and delicious. We loved the fact that it was all made fresh and in house. The service was wonderful as well. Our server was incredibly honest, thoughtful, and attentive, which made the whole experience feel even more enjoyable. It's rare to find service that feels both warm and genuine, and Troy ATX really delivers on that front. The atmosphere is relaxed, casual, and very homey - the kind of place where you feel comfortable lingering over your meal with good company. We'll absolutely be back again soon. I am so glad to find this place.I've been to Turkey years ago and which makes me happy because the food is so delicious just like i remember. It was just a conincidence while i was getting gas for my car.. i saw wooden horse head on top of the restaurant and wondered what this place is.. I found out it's a new restaurant..they still do not have printed menu but it's easy to understand what they have when looked at the black board..Place is neither big nor small.. They have Doner Kebab and Chicken Kebab and something i can not remember now..I got doner kebab and salad..Doner Kebab was tasty but especialy the Kisir Salad was delicious..i am not a vegetarian but i can eat it everyday...and Turkish coffee which they gave it free..also while i am waiting i tested some rice which was realy spicy but nice too.. As i mentioned above there is a gas station in front of the restaurant.. Anyway i think i will visit that place more..i would go everyday just the place is little bit far for me.. read more

I went to this restaurant for the sixth time last week. The staff is so kind and warm to every single customer. The food most importantly is delicious and they really work hard on the meal. There hasn't been one single time where I left disappointed. Their kefta kabob, beef doner, lamb, turkish style grilled chicken is amazing. Also, their mix plate is AMAZING. I love their turkish yogurt beverage it is amazing too. This people have never disappointed me and you should definitely try out their place. Everyone in the establishment not only gives you excellent customer service but tops it off with great food. Thank you for always giving me great food and great customer service. read more

From the moment I walked through the door, I felt genuinely welcomed. The warm atmosphere and friendly service immediately set the tone for a great dining experience. The Turkish-style menu offered a wide variety of dishes -- everything from flavorful appetizers to beautifully presented main courses. I decided on the Gyro Plate, and it was absolutely delicious -- tender, perfectly seasoned, and served with fresh sides that complemented it perfectly. It's rare to find a family-owned restaurant that combines authentic flavors, attentive service, and such a comfortable environment. I highly recommend this spot and am already looking forward to my next visit! read more

I love this place! The food is amazing. They are so helpful when choosing what to eat. Everything is fresh, hot and delicious. Also healthy. The service is even better! The employees are eager to please and always bring back more of their amazing tea. They don't seem annoyed to be serving customers, like you may see at other restaurants. The owner is so fun. He had a group of our friends out to karaoke. He even brought a DJ in from out of town! The owner sang for us, rapped for us, and taught us how to dance. I was so excited to learn there is a fresh Turkish restaurant in North Austin. And the best part is, the location is awesome. The whole staff is super fine and took the time to spell out the menu to my pals as well as me. They brought us out some samples before we purchased, and some Turkish tea. We were a party of 7, and we ended up sharing a whole lot of distinct food collectively. Everything I ate was utterly delightful, but my favorite by far was the steak iskender. I'll definitely be going back for that and the Turkish coffee! read more

My daughter and I ate here today and the food was delicious. We lived in Turkey for a couple of years and really enjoyed the food. This place took us back. The Dolmades were so delicious. I devoured them My daughter usually can't eat alot but she finished her entire plate. The food is authentic and fresh. I don't live in Texas but my daughter does and she said this is her new favorite restaurant. They will be seeing more of her I'm sure. I highly recommend. read more

Really friendly family owned eatery. Looks like pretty genuine Turkish setting and food. And quite yummy also. The steak iskender is particularly tasty. And they've bona fide Turkish coffee. Only position for just a little enhancement was they appear to be getting their table service system down (they're just 3 months old as I wrote this review). Bottom line, I advocate it and encourage folks to attempt it! read more

I am a Turkish-American born and raised in the U.S. by a Turkish mother. I can tell you this place is the real deal! Authentic, so darn good and charming. The owner/operator is very attentive, very personable and is eager to share his family recipes with patrons. Not sure what to order, just ask him and you will get a culinary delight! I ordered the beef Iskender and it was good. I rarely have Turkish food, the meet was tender and juicy. Delicious food at reasonable price. When you come here the first time, they'll explain the menu to you, very nice and friendly staff. read more
