A genuine professional auto repair service shop. Troys Auto Service saved my life by restoring my headlight wiring on my 1955 Willys Panel Delivery Truck. I was driving in the dark and my lights went completely out. The earliest I could be seen by other shops was not until September. Troy's was able to get me in the same day, and drove me home. They picked me up the next day as the work was already completed. And they also restored my heater back to working order again. The price was almost half of the original cost, and the professional mechanics work, was reassuring. I just called this place and the guy who answered was very unhelpful! I gave him the part about three times, and he cut me off in mid-sentence. I even gave him the part number needed, and he couldn't find it in his system. I then asked what he needed from me in order to repair the parking sensor, and he was very short-tempered. They have worked on several cars for me. They've done everything from basic maintenance to helping me out of a REALLY tough spot! When I bought my CRV in Portland I was lied to and 4 months later my timing belt snapped and caused what I thought was catastrophic damage. The crew at Troy Auto checked it out and luckily no damage was done to the pistons. They told me to do it right I'd need a new head(due to cracks, a timing belt, and do a water pump while in the engine). I told them that was the problem they called me back and and reassured me that there was no blown gasket but a misfire and needed a tune $2000 down the drain. Troy's auto service fucked over an active duty service member I was training in the field so my wife picked it up. I would to start off saying that this company changed their name and is still the same con artist that he was before. Him stating that he is pro military actually makes me angry. He blatantly took advantage of a young Navy sailor and the story will follow. His original company name was J & H Auto repair. If you search Yelp for it, you will see the two addresses match. Here is the original review: I would like to give this business a star, any star. It does force me to give one star. I want to make it clear that it needs zero stars. However, my daughter is in the US Navy and asked John Troy to store her car for her while she was deployed. She would call in and check on it and even offer storage fees on a regular basis. The last time she came home, the vehicle was full of someone else's mail and personal items. The dash board was a different color and a new cheap stereo had been installed. My daughter spoke to the woman who owned the mail and said she purchased this car from John for a hefty chunk of change. The reason it was there on the lot when my daughter came home on leave, is because she rear ended someone and it was being fixed. The entire front end is rebuilt with junk yard parts that are all clearly marked from the junk yard. This is why the dash is a different color. The girl who bought the car told my daughter that she had "owned" it for 6 months, racked up miles commuting to Chehalis area, and was upset she had no title. She was forced to add new tires and John installed them and also she paid him for the new crapy stereo. She is a single mom and was also taken advantage of. She was told that my daughter was out to sea and was not available to sign over title and that her father won't return calls. He was going to try to get a lost title! Are you kidding me? So while she is serving our country, you sell her car to a woman that ruins it and is now a salvaged title? We have information from a source close to the owner that this man really is a crook and watch out. He had been the "trusted, family mechanic" for many, many years. This is currently under investigation with the Lacey police department. What a crook. Beware. You might up with a bunch of junk yard parts or not even the correct parts that you went in their with. Shame on you, John Troy. How dare you take advantage of a sweet 20 year old military person who had no where to store her car in Olympia? It is at my home in Idaho now. You are a crook. They have had my girlfriends car for two months. We were in the area so we stopped by to check the status of the car and get an estimate timeframe of when the work will be done. John was the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered; cussing us out for simply inquiring about our car. So far in two months they have not touched the car. They said they found parts at a junk yard, but they could not say when they were going to get the parts. I offered to go to the junkyard myself and bring the parts down to the shop to save time, and John yelled some more profanities before asking us to leave. Over the past few years we've had to make multiple visits with vehicles to actually have a repair completed satisfactorily. Final straw: at the last oil change, the drain plug was over-tightened, stripping the threads in the pan. After weeks of oil dripping on the driveway, we had another mechanic take a look, and identify the issue. Cost us hundreds of $$ to rectify. We will not be back, and do not recommend this shop to anyone, unless you just want to throw money at them and don't really need your vehicle to function properly. read more
