Jake Fuller in the finance department is a con artist. Almost everything that came out of his mouth were lies. He asked me if I needed the maintenance package for oil changes. I said no because my husband does that for me at home and he somehow managed to slip that in and my husband noticed it when I got home. He did dupe me into getting warranty but next day we went in and canceled it which he told me that I could do. He told me that he would send the refund check for the warranty to the bank which I've been waiting and never happened. I would email him every so often and he would make up lies on why it wasn't sent yet and in the meantime I'm accruing interest that I have to pay. End of January is when he said he will send the refund and it's already mid April. Last time I talked to him a few days ago he said the check has been sent a long time ago that he doesn't know anything about it but when I called and talked to another Finance guy today he said the check has never been sent that it will be sent today or tomorrow and he apologized. There were so many other lies, like big lies that I have proof of because I kept all of our email correspondence and I will be taking this to the Attorney General's office. I do not recommend South Tacoma Mazda AT ALL! Rachel was the car salesman I dealt with and she assured me that Jake is honest and transparent but that was a lie. They all work together. read more

I did not appreciate their a la carte service. I had my car door lock diagnosed and they charged me $205, the part was about $240, and the labor was $280. A total of $725 to fix a passenger door lock. I asked if the charge for the diagnosis would be absorbed since I was planning to have them fix it and they said no. This is the first time I have dealt with a dealership repair shop where the diagnosis was not absorbed into the cost to fix it. I understand charging for the diagnosis if the car is taken somewhere else to be fixed. They did not even offer 1/2 price for the diagnosis. No repair shop can fix a vehicle without diagnosing the problem. But it's ok, I bought the part and left. I will never take my car back to them under any circumstances even if I have to go to Federal Way or Puyallup. And I will tell everyone I know not to do business with them. I definitely understand Robert M's review. South Tacoma Mazda is price gouging repair shop. Jenna was no help to me either. read more

South Tacoma Mazda will joyfully sell you an unsafe car and they have all the paperwork done to protect themselves. After paying $5800 for my car I spent over $5000 to make it safe. Struts, tie rod ends, power steering belt and pump. It also had serious emissions issues which cost me another $3400. The safety inspection sticker that they put on the windshield was a lie in the case of this car. I am thankful I did not get injured during the months that it took to get the repairs. read more

Had tried to install a cabin air filter on wife's 2010 Mazda 5 a couple days ago with no success,I gave up after 3 hours and made an appointment for them to finish the instillation. Go to YOUTUBE to see what it takes to install a cabin air filter on a 2010 Mazda 5. I'm old and not as flexible as I used to be 50 years ago. Anyhow they not only finished that, they also did a full inspection of the car. They Didn't charge a dime and gave me a free car wash coupon at Brown Bear. I brought my Mazda 3 in for service for a 60 service. The service rep. gave me service options for the $60K mile, for a range of $1100 to $1300 which involved replacing a bunch of stuff. I thought it was pricey but am a busy guy and drove a bit to get there. Honestly, they roped an idiot. I said ok. I also asked them to look at the tires because I was filling one up every two days. They tried to give it back EOD and say the tire was fine but I called and said no, look again. Oh darn it had a nail on the SECOND inspectation. After 2 tires and a cracked drive belt, I walked away with a $2900 bill. And that original $1300 because I took the higher level, was unnecessary. I finally had a chance to look at the owners manual...all of those items were listed as INSPECT. That's is where they got me. The extra repairs were needed. The $1300 was a straight up rip off for what should have been about $500 or so. Add $1100 for repairs and I should have paid $1600, suggests my reading. I have never gone to a dealer for service and realized I had to get all my info straight ahead of time. Renton Mazda never treated me that way but I moved down South. They gave me an inspection fee and then had me approve ever replace / repair and discussed pros and cons. I was a little puzzled how I could bring in a car worth $15K in perfect working order, less a tire that deflated and come out $3K poorer. I had to research it t make sure I was missing something. I was at least gouged, and perhaps ripped off. read more

Where sales is involved, I usually do not give 5 star reviews but I gotta give credit to this whole team for making me feel like I am getting what I pay for. The car sells itself with its awesome features, and amazingly for its price. The crew (special shout out to Mike and Daniel) really took their time to explain the features of my new CX-30 to me, that I'm not just one of those people who buy for "looks", although Mazda cars look beautiful. I understand how the buttons in my car works and their service team takes care of my maintenance. They take videos of what they did during the service and explain what was done with the vehicle and any issues it has, which gives an extra peace of mind! They are approachable when I have questions and during a time when I got hit by another vehicle and needed a part while my car sits at the body shop, Mike went out of his way to talk to the parts and service managers to order the missing part/look for it for me. I appreciate this whole team so much! Even though I live in Seattle, I don't mind the drive down here for my service. And I will definitely get my next car here. read more

Was looking for a reliable, smaller, good mpg car and mainly considering Honda and Toyota. Had almost forgotten about how good Mazda can be. Submitted an online request which was answered quickly and actually addressed the questions I had. Most dealerships rely on automated messages and completely ignore any comments you include in the request. Jeff Mitchell in sales was extremely responsive and professional in his communications. While many dealers are still selling at or above MSRP, South Tacoma Mazda is selling theirs at invoice and more importantly... without any forced dealer add-ons. The GM and finance manager were friendly and helpful as well. They didn't have what I was looking for in stock, but were able to bring one in from another store the next day. Went to the service department to have my wife's cars repaired for a roof leak that my wife just bought there 5 months ago. They did a leak test determined that the leak was coming from the drive's side roof seal. Approved the repair for over $400 and when they were finished they tested it to make sure it was not leaking and told us their was no more leak, even on the repair receipt it is clearly written that they had verified that there was No More Leak! Well 2 days later it started to rain hard and Lo and Behold it started to leak again in the same small area. Took the car back to South Tacoma Mazda and was told we have to pay for another leak test and repair. Then I said to them "now she has to pay again for the same repair twice". I don't think i'm trippin that it's not right that she has to pay for the same repair twice. I was mad and left.Why should my wife pay the price because your certified technician DID NOT properly repair the leak. Is it to much to ask that the repair be done right the first time. My wife emailed the general manager and the service manager Jenna Myrfield called us. I talked to her and told her about the issue. She continued the same line as the service advisor gave us. I told her I don't think it's right that we should pay for the same repair twice. Then Jenna started saying that we wanted everything done for free. That I don't understand how things work. Paying over $400 ain't a cheap repair. She started to get very condescending. I don't know how much she makes but $400 is a lot of money to us. Like most Americans we are having a hard time making ends meet. So I just hung up. The customer service is .. well if I could give them 10 stars out of five I truly would. They treat people right! I was headed out on a road trip in my recently purchased new 2023 CX-30, and realized that the key for the locking lug nuts on my wheels was not in the kit that that came with the vehicle. The third dealership I pulled into that morning was South Tacoma Mazda. The service department there had the particular master key that fit my lock nuts. They switched out the lug nuts for 4 standard nuts (which were in the kit that came with the car), and I was back on the road, and feeling more at ease within 10 minutes. That's Mike in the photo, and he was just amazing in scheduling my a/c and airbag light service, communicating every step with me, and even found a way to save me a little cash on a big repair. This review is largely for their service center. My Mazda3 was having some odd acceleration issues, and subsequently my "check engine" light came up on my dashboard. I'd tried multiple times to get in touch with University Mazda (they never responded), so I called up STM as I was in the neighborhood. They picked up the phone right away, which I always appreciate. Upon describing my situation I asked if I could stop by and have them take a look, which they agreed to do. From the moment I arrived I was treated with courtesy. An employee (whose name I didn't catch) pointed me in the right direction of the service center and even opened the door for me. I was helped almost immediately by Mike, who had been on the phone earlier. I have to give the biggest shoutout to Mike; he was courteous and professional right from the get-go. He came out to investigate the dashboard light, and to my surprise, he said he could probably look into the issue and fix it right then and there! I'm cynical enough that I didn't think that level of service existed anymore. We waited about an hour and a half (which is what he estimated), after which he took the time to explain the issue they found and what they did to fix it. After driving it around, I can confirm that they did in fact fix the issue! Lastly, I have to commend Mike's honesty. I have a dash cam that gives a verbal notification if anything happens while my car is parked. Usually, this is because someone shuts the door a little hard, or if the hood/trunk is shut and shakes the car. But Mike was honest enough to let me know the dash cam gave such a warning, and told me he double-checked with the technician to make sure nothing happened while the service was conducted. I really appreciated that he was candid so that I could assure him the dash cam is overly sensitive sometimes. TL;DR: Mike was great. Car was fixed. I'll be back for future service needs. read more

I was recently in the market for a new 2019 Mazda 3, and STM was one of the dealerships I was talking to. I preferred to do my business over email, so I let them know that I would only respond over emails, which they duly followed. (You'd be surprised to hear how many other dealerships bombarded me over the phone AFTER I told them to contact me only over email!). My Internet Sales Manager was Shayla P. and she was prompt and very helpful. Until the very last day, I was weighing my options between financing and leasing, and Shayla was patient enough to negotiate with me on both fronts, retrieving quotes for both Finance and Lease and offering me a good deal wherever she could. I also had some complications with my Visa, and she patiently helped me out. In the end I chose to finance my car and the price they were offering was by the best I found across all Mazda dealerships I was talking to. It happened to be lower than the Truecars price and considerably lower than the KBB price. And on top of that, they were also able to offer an excellent financing rate. Hunter V. was the Salesperson I was talking to on the day I arrived to make a deal for the car. He came to pick me up in Tacoma since I travelled from Bellevue to here (without a car!) and drove me to the dealership. He was super friendly and walked me through the entire process, and answered my questions. He also helped me get insurance for the car. Later I met with Calvin from their finance department and he too sat down and answered all my questions and was very transparent about the entire process, not trying to sell me unnecessary things I wouldn't need. Finally, Hunter gave me a detailed walkthrough of all the things I need to know about my car (and this was around 7pm, which I believe was past their closing time). Overall experience: Friendly staff, made me feel very welcomed and never pressured me into making a deal. As a first time car buyer, I felt very comfortable with STM and never felt like someone was trying to take advantage of me. Only con: I did have to wait at the dealership for longer than expected, but they comped me with a free car wash, so I guess that's okay! read more

Holy crap. Misery loves company, so does everyone lead a miserable life here? Had the unfortunate run-in with the bouncer Addison Granberry at the doorway. Surprised he's been employed for as long as he has, let alone making ANY sales. I was "greeted" by Addison where I asked to speak to a GSM about specialty pricing on a pre-ordered MX-5 to which this employee states "Why would I do that?" It was then I said "Okay, nevermind, thanks;" and as I turn to leave, he mutters "Get the fuck out of here with that shit." (His exact words) I turn back around and ask for his name to which he replies, "I'm not giving that to you." However, thank you Hunter, for introducing yourself and maintaining some professionalism; kudos for being a (STM) team player by not giving out his name either, but hopefully unlike you said, you two actually do talk to each other; must suck to not want to speak to co-workers. I bought a new car here in 2019. They were a little pushy but honored my TrueCar price which was a solid deal and significantly better than any Seattle dealer. And I love the car. I still come specifically here for service because their VIP deal was worth it. Oil changes and tire rotations and inspections are essentially free if you pay upfront for the VIP thing. The service guys are much friendlier than the salesmen. Overall I like this place a lot and would buy another car here. read more
