Larsen's took the time to actually inspect everything and gave me a much more accurate picture. They confirmed the rear brakes were still in good shape (around 10mm), the control arm bushings were fine, and none of that additional work was needed right now. That kind of honesty is rare. They previously handled my front brake service, and everything was done right, no issues since. This time they also completed an alignment and oil service, both at fair prices. Mark was especially helpful throughout the process. He clearly explained what was actually needed versus what could wait, and didn't try to upsell anything. I never felt rushed or pressured, just informed. Bonus points to him since he's a fellow Atlanta Braves fan! Fortunately we had an electronic tire pump, so we were able to get to a tire place. I picked Gary's based on reviews and location. I was beyond impressed! They were friendly as heck and had our car in and out in about 25 minutes. We just took the dogs and walked over to a nearby coffee shop and had some coffee. We walked back and the car was done! And it was a good job--we went on to check out many places from Evergreen State to Point Defiance in Tacoma, feeling safe and secure the whole time. We are back home and all is dandy. I took my car and got a quote for $250 to $500, a week later it was $700, and by the time it was done two weeks later I was told it was 2K for replacing an alternator and fixing an electrical problem that the dealer never found before. But, since the vehicle's catalytic converter was stolen last year, I thought maybe they pulled some wires out of place. $700 made sense, but $2k is an absurd amount. I was able to talk them down to $1,500. I should have gone back to the dealer and saved myself a couple of hundred bucks. What makes me sad is that this is my neighborhood shop, and I was looking forward to having a mechanic near my home for all my cars, tractor and boat, but it was an expensive lesson. Live and learn.

This included a free all-points inspection with photos and info (e.g. brake pad thickness) and broke everything down by degree of urgency. Service was prompt and friendly, and after I discovered transmission fluid was leaking from one car when we got home, they apologized and got me back in right away to correct the issue. Parking lot is tight and there's no night drop (fenced lot), but they have a nice waiting area and their lobby shows how involved they are in supporting the local community. The labor rates are reasonable and they take the time to explain, and show you the issue. I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I am mechanically inclined and can do some repairs myself. The hours of labor they quoted for the the repair were done by the actual amount of time it took them to do the job.
