I have been taking shoes etc. to Troy Quick Shoe Repair now for probable more than two decades. I have never been disappointed with the service, price etc. I've had shoes cleaned, soles redone, repaired etc. I have an inexpensive pair or shoe boots that I adore. They have issues in winter collecting salt marks. TQSR to the rescue! They've cleaned them up now several times. When my Dad is in his 80s, he took some shoes to a local shop and was disappointed with their re-sole-ing. He brought them here and was so happy, he now sends his shoes to me to take them here. I have a couple of leather purses for which I was looking to buy polish and spruce up. The leather is gold on one and light gray on another, so I can't just get the polish at Walmart. Plus, I'd heard that my favorite polish Meltonian was being discontinued. So I wanted to stock up. The owner of the shop actually recommended another business for my purses, because he said they needed reconditioning rather than just polish. He said they needed to be cleaned and dyed and that buying shoe polish would result in the shoe polish just rubbing off on my clothes the next time the purse was used. I was impressed that he would steer me away from his business toward another in order to get the job done right. The owner said he bought the business 30 years ago. I was impressed by this, yet upon reflection I can see how he's managed to stay in business despite recessions and our throw-away economy: He gives quality advice and sells a quality service. I wish they were closer to my home but I am delighted to have a real, old fashioned shoe repair shop. I try to buy shoes that can be repaired and this is the guy. Handbags, luggage, backpacks too. And other gear - whatever leather or heavy canvas you need worked on. I'm sure he could repair my butterfly chair covers. Heading there today with two pairs of espadrilles that have leather soles - he's going to put thin heels on them and give me more years in the shoes I love. read more

I would NOT recommend this place for cleaning of Ugg boots. I recently dropped 4 pairs of authentic Ugg boots off. There were 4 different colors, 3 were in good shape (minimal salt marks from the winter) and 1 black pair with the noticeable salt marks. While I did want them cleaned- I would have preferred a phone call giving me the option to proceed or not rather than to have had them cleaned and with a HOLE in it. Now, I can't wear this pair at all. As for the 3 other pairs, one has stains on them that wasn't there prior dropping them off and another has worn marks in the same area as where the hole is on the other boot. I was told that the hole was from where "the bend in the shoe was" and that was the reason why. Having spent over originally over $600 on these boots and taking good care of them- I am left with 3 pairs looking worse and now completely out of 1 pair of boots. While this place may be good for leather work it certainly does not do good work for Uggs and should not be advertised as such. I will not be recommending them to family or friends. read more
