Walked-in before the karaoke rush and the place was filled with locals celebrating birthdays and anniversaries alike. Troy introduced himself to us since we were looking a little lost.. and made us feel so comfy! Let me preface this with the fact that I'm from Cali so I dig places like this. East of the Rockies, I don't know; you guys have some different opinions. If you're into dives then this is the place for you. This place is laid back with good service, cold beer, plastic-tip darts, music, and karaoke from your seat at the bar. It's a local hangout when you want to get away from commercialized vacations, where you can chill and feel at home even if it's 3000 miles away. Don't expect anything fancy or pop-culture. We stopped by Kyle's tonight for some drinks. The Oiwi band played, and kept us all laughing serenaded us into the night. Some of the most gifted musicians I've ever seen! The service and drinks were outstanding. Best of all, Kyle greeted all his patrons and guests and made us all feel welcomed. It's a great place to come and sing Karaoke and play darts. Walked in. Very open setting. Losts of family style tables. Got eyes by a lot of the "locals"?... bar tender served someone who came and sat next to us after we got there. She knew him...ok. Asked us if we are 21, we nodded being in our early thirties. Had a question about a shot special... she then ID us cause I asked. Came to play darts. All electric machines. Super friendly to mainlanders! staff and other local patrons welcomed us with open arms. Asked where we were from and thanked us for visiting. I asked if they served desserts and sadly they don't serve food but they allowed you to bring in your own take out. they do provide pretty tasty popcor. And becuz I had asked about dessert for my husband the bartender brought over a piece of his pie at no charge. Super nice!! Andddd the owner Troy sings kareoke and has the voice of Kenny Rogers. We visited Troy's on a Wednesday night to hear a band group. We were told it was very local and offered no food service. You can order out from other nearby restaurants that deliver. It is a bar but the local charm was wonderful. I particularly enjoyed watching the interaction of local people. The warm embraces and quick laughter reminded me of the 24+ years spent on Oahu earlier in my life. I wish them many years of service to their community. The band was fabulous. It was pretty dead on a Tuesday night at Troy's when my newly wedded wife and I decided to check this place out. Although it was dead it was an awesome experience. Troy made us feel like we were at home on an island thousands of miles away. When he learned we were on our honeymoon he gave us free karaoke for the night and bought us a round of drinks. My husband and I are currently staying in Lihue for our honeymoon. On our first full day here, we wanted to check out a casual bar and chose this place because the highest rating in our area AND on that particular night they had live music. Seemed like a good place to start. We went around 6, 30 mins before the music was set to start. I can't lie- we were a bit skeptical at first given the place seemed a little dead and its location in a random shopping plaza. However, things quickly changed as more people rolled in. A couple of the locals started chatting us up and before we knew it, the music started. The band noticed we were new and asked us where we were from (NY) and whether or not we were on our honeymoon (affirmative). People then started coming up to us, hugging us, congratulating, you name it. I still can't get over how warm and friendly everyone was. What a great night we had!!! We ended up staying for almost 5 hours and we had SUCH a blast with all of the amazing locals we met. I'm so glad we came for live music- the band was pretty fantastic and played lots of old classics. Drinks are cheap and served with popcorn. You can also bring your own food if you'd like, or even order from the Chinese food place next door and they'll bring it over for you(that's what we did). This place is going to be really, really tough to beat in terms of a fun, cheap night out. The other reviews are all spot on- Troys is the best! read more

We decided to stop in on a Friday night on our way back up to Princeville - Glad we did! I'm a karaoke junky and was due for my fix. My wife and I walked in, grabbed a table and a waitress stopped by to take our drink order. Drinks arrived quickly and a short-time later, she brought us a basket of popcorn. Karaoke was in full-swing at this point! Our waitress brought us a songbook and explained the process. Troy even stopped by to introduced himself and welcomed us to his place -- He even bought us a round of drinks. Though he's an admitted Green Bay Packer fan (we are from Chicago and are Bears fans), Troy is cool guy -- I hope you get to meet him. He has a ton of karaoke songs... stuff I have always wanted to sing but was never able to find. The pace is quick as there is no KJ (karaoke DJ) - The staff plug your request into the machine and poof, you're in the queue... just keep an eye peeled for your song. My wife and I would make the trip back to Kauai just for Troy's. When we first walked in it was all locals, listening to a band who was local and I wish I could remember what they were called. But needless to say we were pretty skeptical. But the music was amazing and they served the best microwaved popcorn I've ever had so we agreed to have 2 drinks and give the place a shot. Well I had 2 drinks my wife was 7 months pregnant, then 2 extremely awesome, outgoing, (karaoke'ly talented) girls sat next to us, they were very friendly and convinced us to stay longer. Eventually the rest of the girls' party showed and they got their own table. When they left 2 guys took their chairs and immediately started a conversation with us. I told them I was from Stockton, CA and they immediately associated that with Nate Diaz which sparked another conversation. Long story short it was as great a night that we'll never forget. We went back the next night and had a blast again, we promised Troy we'd go back before we left, and he said he had a gift for us, unfortunately the next night we got stuck at something much less enticing. The thing I'll never forget about Kauai is how great the locals are and how awesome and inviting they are I encourage anyone who visits Kauai to check out Troy's, best decision of our trip! read more

We were looking for a place to have a drink before heading up to our Princeville timeshare when we saw Troy's listed on Yelp. We were not disappointed! Troy, the owner, is very friendly and has a great singing voice! A Karaoke Sing Along is available for $1.00 per song which added to the fun atmosphere. Not only does it seem like seem "Cheers" the TV show but each night the friendly patrons close the bar singing the theme song. Troy's bar only opened in April 2016 but we think it is already a winner! read more

This place is a dump. We walked in the door and the locals acted as if we had no business being there. We turned around to leave and they said "yeah, get out".
